  1. AHL counts as pro hockey, so leaving him there doesn't affect his expansion status.
  2. Can't wait to see Bobby Orr in March or next year! He will help our pp immensel and we'll finally have another player other than Elias that can skate the puck from our blueline to theirs and not dump it in!
  3. Why hello my old friend! 8 losses in a row. 23rd overall, while having played 3-4 more games than almost everyone below us. The Jack Hughes dream isn't dead yet!
  4. Best in the NHL 2017 Draft Getting some Hart trophy love from the eastern media from of all people Jeff O'Neil!
  5. Pettersson is so godly, he's managed to turn my cold, tanking heart! Before, when I saw a bad team like Detroit on the schedule, I was like damn, not good for the tank. Now, I'm like I wonder how many points Pettersson can get against this bad team! I want the canucks to make the playoffs and Pettersson to win the hart now! The west being such crap now has also influenced me because outside of nashville and winnipeg, the rest of the west doesn't scare me and Pettersson can beat any of the other west teams in a best of 7 in the playoffs!
  6. So reading the athletties, anyone know how long Tryamkin has had his Instagram avatar as him in a canucks jersey? Has it been a while or recently due to the benching in Russia?
  7. Man you guys all complain when leafs players get hyped up so much, that when finally one of our players is getting hyped up nationally you want them to calm down? I say screw that. Hype the Swedish Gretzky to the moon cause he deserves it!
  8. I guess when I said Pettersson will end up being the greatest swede in history, I was underrating him!
  9. I will give Benning credit for learning from his past draft mistakes. Virtanen over nylander and ehlers was a mistake that he corrected in the Pettersson draft. I had no horse in the glass/Pettersson debate at the time because I didn't know enough about either, so wasn't going to get upset about either pick. However, I was happy that he went for the smaller skilled euro with more offensive upside than the bigger and safer Canadian pick. Plus, I was extremely happy he went for the smaller, but more dynamic and offensively exciting Hughes over dobson and Bouchard this past draft. I just love skilled offensive players over the bigger safer players if the skill gap is big enough.
  10. Benning also took McCann over pastrnak, so he's not perfect.
  11. I would be ecstatic about Hughes, but I'm also falling in love with kakko and would take him as the consolation prize. There are also some top centres I don't know much about, but scouts are high on. It's supposed to be a good draft next year with elite centre talent available.
  12. Brock is an outlier though. Pettersson and Quinn Hughes say otherwise. You're more likely to get Patrick white, Schroeder, shinkaruk, Jensen, McCann and gaunce type players in Brock's draft spot.
  13. Actually Linden was on the radio saying they would have taken neither Patrick or hirscher if they won the lottery. Not sure if they had Pettersson ranked over the dmen, but the point still stands that being bad is the only way to land these superstar top picks. Hoping Pettersson wins the calder and we finish last overall for another top pick!
  14. As a member of #TeamTank, it brings me great joy watching our new God Pettersson do his dekes and snipe top cheese. It's like watching our tanking baby all grown up and reaffirmation that tanking works. Pettersson will be leading us to the promised land in the future and Quinn Hughes will be coming next year. Hopefully we get Jack Hughes, kappo or another top 5 pick next summer! The future is looking bright and our tanking years will soon be behind us and will have been all worth it!
  15. Jack is the dream, but we never win the lottery. There's also kakko and some top centres to choose from.
  16. I know it's just pre-season and I shouldn't get my hopes up, but their play so far is encouraging from a #TeamTank perspective. Hopefully, it carries over to the regular season because all I want this year is to watch Pettersson do his dekes and get another top 5 pick!
  17. That game just confirmed my thinking that he will be the best swedish born player in history!
  18. My God Hughes is a beauty! That's exactly why I wanted him over dobson and Bouchard. He has electrifying elite offensive talent that those 2 don't have.
  19. Our own Marty St Louis with his tree trunk legs!
  20. Oh yeah I still watch every game. I just watch them with an eye towards the future now. Instead of getting pissed off at blowing 3rd period leads, I get pissed off when we tie it late to get loser points or ot wins. I can't wait for the day when I can wholeheartedly cheer for the canucks to win again without feeling guilty about cheering against their future success. These tank years have been bleak, but still not as bleak as the messier years! I don't think injuries are a big reason we've been bad though, but a lack of talent since we're rebuilding. We should be back on top in a few years though hopefully and then these tank years would have been well worth it!
  21. I don't think the anti tankers are in it for the long haul. If they had their way we would have been a bubble team just missing the playoffs or being knocked out in the first round and we would have missed out on studs like Pettersson and Hughes. That would would have continued the cycle of mediocrity. I'm aboard team tank for at least one more year because one more stud added to our cupboard of prospects will go a long way to making the canucks contenders again. The method of losing doesn't matter to me whether it's intentionally tanking or just being bad, as long as the end result is top picks. I don't think the canucks have ever intentionally tanked though, but I just like using the word tanking as a catch all phrase. Just look at the excitement Pettersson and Hughes are generating. Imagine the excitement next year in Vancouver at the draft if we won the lottery. I'm not banking on that though since we never win, but will be cheering for a top 5 pick to grab one of the elite centres available. If all goes well then rogers arena will be rocking again with sellouts and a winning atmosphere in 2021 or 2022.
  22. Nah Pettersson is in his +1 draft year, so he can win the calder this year. Hughes just got drafted, so can go back to school and win the calder next year. I'm in it for the long haul. Why have a mediocre team that can entertain the fans this year at times, when with another top pick we can have a dominant and winning team that will entertain the fans for years to come? Instant gratification vs delayed gratification that has a bigger reward for showing patience. The tanking is paying off and we got two studs in Pettersson and Hughes the last two drafts. Get jack or an elite centremen next year, especially with the draft being in Vancouver and we'll be well on our way to becoming a dominant team again with all our prospects. No one said rebuilding would be entertaining or fun, but if you stick with it you'll be rewarded with a great team in the future.
  23. Hall of fame dangles. I want Hughes to go back to school though because I think he hurts our chances for tanking for Jack. We still need Jack or another top 5 pick. I hear next year will have elite centremen to choose from. Get another top pick and this team could do some damage in a few years.
