  1. Oh yeah I still watch every game. I just watch them with an eye towards the future now. Instead of getting pissed off at blowing 3rd period leads, I get pissed off when we tie it late to get loser points or ot wins. I can't wait for the day when I can wholeheartedly cheer for the canucks to win again without feeling guilty about cheering against their future success. These tank years have been bleak, but still not as bleak as the messier years! I don't think injuries are a big reason we've been bad though, but a lack of talent since we're rebuilding. We should be back on top in a few years though hopefully and then these tank years would have been well worth it!
  2. I don't think the anti tankers are in it for the long haul. If they had their way we would have been a bubble team just missing the playoffs or being knocked out in the first round and we would have missed out on studs like Pettersson and Hughes. That would would have continued the cycle of mediocrity. I'm aboard team tank for at least one more year because one more stud added to our cupboard of prospects will go a long way to making the canucks contenders again. The method of losing doesn't matter to me whether it's intentionally tanking or just being bad, as long as the end result is top picks. I don't think the canucks have ever intentionally tanked though, but I just like using the word tanking as a catch all phrase. Just look at the excitement Pettersson and Hughes are generating. Imagine the excitement next year in Vancouver at the draft if we won the lottery. I'm not banking on that though since we never win, but will be cheering for a top 5 pick to grab one of the elite centres available. If all goes well then rogers arena will be rocking again with sellouts and a winning atmosphere in 2021 or 2022.
  3. Nah Pettersson is in his +1 draft year, so he can win the calder this year. Hughes just got drafted, so can go back to school and win the calder next year. I'm in it for the long haul. Why have a mediocre team that can entertain the fans this year at times, when with another top pick we can have a dominant and winning team that will entertain the fans for years to come? Instant gratification vs delayed gratification that has a bigger reward for showing patience. The tanking is paying off and we got two studs in Pettersson and Hughes the last two drafts. Get jack or an elite centremen next year, especially with the draft being in Vancouver and we'll be well on our way to becoming a dominant team again with all our prospects. No one said rebuilding would be entertaining or fun, but if you stick with it you'll be rewarded with a great team in the future.
  4. Hall of fame dangles. I want Hughes to go back to school though because I think he hurts our chances for tanking for Jack. We still need Jack or another top 5 pick. I hear next year will have elite centremen to choose from. Get another top pick and this team could do some damage in a few years.
  5. Yes! Bring him back for a final year!
  6. The hockey gods will finally reward us with a lottery win and Quinn will go up to the podium to announce the drafting of his brother Jack!
  7. I pity the foo that doesn't like woo! Love the pick! He hits like a beast!
  8. Another successful stealth tank year! Hughes is going to be a superstar! Now, we just need another stealth tank year to draft his brother!
  9. Love the pick! Wanted him or walhstrom. I remember in the world juniors tournament in the semis I think the US coach was barely playing him, then late in the 3rd he started playing and was amazing and almost led a comeback. Now let's tank for his brother Jack, so we can be led by brohers again!
  10. Demoralizing tank win yesterday, jumping ahead of 3 teams! God damn oilers and montreal are trash and keep losing! Ottawa and arizona has been doing us a solid by winning lately, but we failed to capitalize on it yesterday. We still got 4 huge tank games vs arizona and it would be huge if they swept us!
  11. Oh I never expect players to tank. I just hope to lose every game 5-4 with Boeser scoring a bunch.
  12. Man, this current run of mediocrity just shows how hard tanking is. Even our run of losing like 11 out of 15 didn't create enough tank separation from the pack to be safe. These last few wins have bunched us up with 5 teams now and we're even further from 3rd last than before thanks to ottawa never winning. 4th last looks like the only realistic goal left, while the worst case would be finishing 8th last. We need to get this tank train back on track, but it's going to be hard now with horvat back!
  13. Yeah costly win as we didn't take advantage of the rare Buffalo win the night before. Also bringing us closer to the pack. I want to stay in 3rd last with the outside hope of Buffalo passing us guaranteeing us 5th overall at worst. I'd be happy with any of the projected top 5 right now.
  14. Haha, I know. I say that half seriously because I'm just high on the Elias kool aid with how hard he's dominating the shl at his age.
  15. I mean yeah, it would be nice if he got to 200 pounds, but I'm not going to hold it against him if he doesn't. Some people just can't gain weight and looking at his frame, I'm not sure if he'll reach 200 pounds. He may just be a natural lanky and skinny guy that might not be able to bulk up much.
  16. I'm not worried about petterrsson adding strength. He will in time, but I don't think it's mandatory like some people think. No one says patrick kane and gaudreau need to add strength because they just have elite skill where it doesn't really matter that much for them. Petterrsson is the same and has the chance at being the best player sweden has ever produced.
  17. Yup! Boeser getting a point and us losing are the best tank days and there's been a lot of those lately! Really happy with this current run of losing 12 of 14 because it really solidified the tank and basically killed our playoff chances, so benning won't think about buying now. After that decent start, I was worried about this team being a bubble team. However, this great tank run we've been on has alleviated those fears and now we have a good chance of solidifying 3rd last with an outside, but unlikely chance buffalo can pass us. The dream is dahlin, but I don't expect that and just hope for another top 5 pick this year as there's a lot of good players available. The future is looking bright for this team once all our prospects start getting into the lineup, so the addition of another top 5 pick will just add to our great future. This team is better than it is when healthy, so the silver lining of the horvat injury is that it really got the tank back on track, which was the best thing for the future of this team. Here's to more boeser points and losses in 2018!
  18. I think we'll all look back one day ask why didn't anyone take lind in the top 10 of his draft?!
  19. Really excited about this kid. He could turn into the power forward we all expected virtanen to be.
  20. Kid is NHL ready. Boeser is going to score 50 next year with Elias feeding him!
  21. Nah, if it was rigged mcdavid wouldn't be in Edmonton and Matthews would be in Arizona to save the coyotes. Them ending up on cdn teams is the last thing bettman wanted because it doesn't grow the league. Bettman wants stars on American teams to try to gain more fans.
  22. Oh right. I forgot Carter went to Columbus first.
  23. Nah, both for the first cup and Carter for the 2nd cup as Richards was less of a factor by then.
  24. Sure it does. He was a high pick used as a piece to get Richards and Carter. Kings don't win the cup without those 2.
  25. Kings had 2. They used Brayden schenn (5th overall) in a package to get Richards and Carter.
