I absolutely love dogs, but people have gone way too far with bringing them everywhere to shops, classes, etc.

My little cousin's high school and college classes regularly had multiple animals (not just dogs) that people were bringing in to help with their anxiety.

Are we that fragile that we can't cope with social situations anymore without our pet? Are people afraid to leave their dog outside to wait for them while they shop? Used to be a normal thing in the 80s and 90s growing up.

Yes, society has become charmin soft now.

  3. Does anyone here have Mini-Splits in their homes?  I was eyeing up them again after this heat wave (plus my bedrooms is electric forced air anyways with one of them having no heat in winter). Seen some of those Senville branded ones on farms for their stores, etc. so just wondering what some peoples experiences could be with them.  Reading up on them again (did it last summer) and on Reddit seems like most people are happy with the DIY models for the most part, some complain it can't keep up with extreme cold but we don't really see less than -10 here in the Fraser Valley anyways and I think most of those people were more in the -30 range but wasn't sure.

I live at home still at 27 and pretty much am able to for the next while or so as I finish school. Even after 1st year of school is done I’ll probably be making 5-6k(working OT) a cheque with little commitments and lowish rent. Good time to start saving for a place.

Hopefully in 5ish years the housing market can begin to settle down a bit.

I work in a camp setting too so 2/3rds of the time I have everything paid for.

What’s in extremely high demand atm are Ironworkers in BC. Local 97 screaming for guys and you’re never out of work. They bring guys from the east coast to work here. The projects coming up soon will create even more. Gonna be a good next 10-15 years. I recommend if anyone knows anybody who wants a career path or something for themselves.

Lots of jobs in trades. I knew some ironworkers in the past and they were great guys.

    Time to revisit 'homesteading'.

Lots of government land, and we are the government, so why not give us some land?

ohh- can't do that or a very significant revenue stream for rich folk, and  for government would dry up.

Now you're just waiting for the government to find even more ways to tax us.  If theres a will theres a way the government will get a cut unfortunately lol.

Can't go wrong with those. Also cargo pants. It's almost time for camo/cargo to be in again. Having those extra pockets comes in handy

I bought some waterproof "military" style pants for work, those extra pockets come in so handy for sharpies, knives, tape measures, etc.  Didn't realize it until I actually got them.

@Russ I remember another issue actually... no rear wiper blade which was a bit of a turn off for me as we'd be driving it in winter conditions.

Some people seem to complain about that, some say its a non issue with how the water beads off.  I have never had a vehicle with a rear wiper so I probably wouldn't notice it plus the car wash stuff I got has rain-x and that beads rain off pretty darn good.

Definitely isn't a picture perfect car but it was one I was heavily considering.  I would like to go for the Ioiniq 7 since its bigger but I think it'll be out of my price range when released. Oh well wife can stick to her older EV, we drive that thing a ton.

@Russ We almost bought an Ioniq5 AWD but the misses didn't like the contemporary interior. I think it had 400km of range.

If I was getting a vehicle in the market right now the ioniq5 would be my choice (maybe model Y). Has a nice blend of space and size compared to others. Plus I love that older boxy look with the square LEDs in it. I think that one floats between 400-440 depending on rwd or AWD model which is more than enough for 2-3 days driving for most people.

Isn't the point of those vans to be camp/adventure friendly? 400km of range (presumably on flat, unlikely to get that on BC highways) is not really enough for that.

I'm surprised a manufacturer hasn't come out with an electric trades van (eg. sprinter). Those are almost always driven in city and the trades people take them home at night. It's the perfect application for an EV. Gas is more efficient on highways and for long distance trips. Hybrids that can run on all EV seem to be the best of both worlds at the moment.

Ford does have the etransit but its only at about 170-200kms depends on the model.  Its great for say a vancouver contractor, less so for someone in the Fraser Valley as we tend to travel a bit more.  If they got that to the 250-350kms with hauling the average amount of tools those things would be flying the Valley. I have seen a few of them in Langley and Abbotsford but not many (I don't really look for etransits like I do other EVs).

Yea the Buzz has something like 400kms range which isn't bad if thats after the ineffiencies with the body style. The biggest issue with the Buzz is I believe (don't quote me) its still built on the MEB platform which is only a 400v system, they aren't upgrading to the 800v system like Hyundai/Kia have (I think Ford went 800v too now with Lightning).

Our Ioniq EV gets less than 300kms (advertised but we float around 300 in this temp, should be like 320 by later spring) but thats more than enough for day to day driving and we love it, we wouldn't change it for the world.  If work didn't pay me for my truck I would consider a second EV for us but right now makes zero financial sense.

Rivians are in production as well.

Wait until the Van's start ramping up.

VW's ID.Buzz is cool, but waaaaaaay expensive.

It will be interesting to see who makes production first? Lordstown Endurance, or the Cybertruck.

Maybe someone threw a baseball and shattered the glass again.

Lordstown had promise when announced, but even if produced I would be afraid to buy it, just don't have trust in the company if something went wrong (and things are bound to go wrong with first handful of batches).  Same with Atlas (who just finished up their funding) and canoo, etc. These start ups will be so sketch. Atleast the Cybertruck and Ram/GM/Chevy will have some sort of dealer behind them.

I want that ID Buzz, looks wicked but that price point is stupid high.

I never thought I'd pick Westbrick, since I'm a huge hater, but yeah.  I pick #0 because he was the healthiest of the 3 in his prime (before his first knee surgery).  Have you seen the way Ja lands on any of his drives?  There is a pretty obvious reason why he always injures his ankles.

Ja goes for those highlight reels and every time he lands I cringe a bit.

Was watching Ja highlights lately and he's pretty explosive.  That being said, for those who've watched for a long time, if you were gonna start/ bench/ cut, who do you take for

(each of them in their prime, and based on athleticism) Ja/ D-Rose/ Russ Westbrook?

Each had their own insane abilities, their explosions were something else.  Its just to bad Rose knee blew out so early on.

    I gotta go Rose/Ja/Westbrook.

So.  Not that I should suggest this but

Go out.  Buy an amazon firestick 4k.  Firecube 4k.  Whichever you prefer.  Google how to add a kodi build to it.  troypoint is my favourite.  I also found cinema hd apk app which was awesome.  Paid for a debrid service at $5 a month for quality links.  Then for a mere $50 every 3 months I got HD IPTV extreme and only added english, uk, aus, nz, canadian channels and movies.  I essentially pay less than $17 a month total and watch whatever I want whenever I want and any movie that exists on the planet right now.

It is absolutely not perfect, some buffering issues on live tv at times but really; I am absolutely not giving netflix a dime if they start asking me to confirm my account every 30 days or less

If only that was young children friendly, so much easier for kids to find netflix or disney channel on the firestick :( Wonder if its improved much in the last few years.

I miss IPTV, was really good when it worked.

So Netflix charges a premium so you can get up to six devices or whatever. And now they want me to pay another eight dollars if I allow my son to use it when he’s at his mom‘s house they’re already charging me the premium so that I can have it on more than one device. It’s my device and this is a mobile app. Why would I pay an extra eight dollars when I’m already paying for the device, I understand people that are sharing with friends and all the rest of it but if it’s all one family or you’re already paying for the device, how are you getting charged again? This is covered already by charging for more than one device….. it’s like getting taxed on a tax which is something else that annoys me.

Theres a work around for mobile devices I believe, thought I read something if the mobile device is normally in the "primary" location then it can be used elsewhere. Its more like the devices that are permanently at a single location, like my parents who has it built into their TV and have been using mine the last 5 years or however long its been. Pretty much my kids go over there for weekly sleepovers and they use it then for them, I just ended up paying the extra $8 to make it easier.

yup. L.A. did well in this 3-way trade with the T--wolves and Jazz. Smart move from L.A especially with the 1st round pick involved.

Amazing how LA only had to ditch one 1st rounder too in all of this.

Didn't news come out not too long ago that lots of people unsubscribed over the past year?

And now they decide to add more oil to the fire?

    lol.

It's like they want people to cancel Netflix.

    morons

They have actually had an increase in subscribers in the last quarter.  If people want access they have to pay now, if they don't, then well chances are the original account holder will still hold the account.

Benning has been gone for more than a year.

The current management group had a chance to make decisions and reverse some of the negative trends which Benning had started.

They should have had the information they needed.

Yet they made the decisions to sign Miller and qualify and extend Boeser.  And they made the decision to sign Ilya Mikheyev.

All of those decisions led to where the team is now... unable to sign Horvat because the team will go over its CAP limit.  And probably unable to sign Kuzmenko for the same reason.

They are now in the position of potentially losing both players... two the of the three best players on the team this year.  (other obviously is Pettersson)

They put themselves in this position by not anticipating or making allowance for what should have been obvious.

They knew Bo Horvat would be in the last year of his contract before UFA... the experience of watching other UFA's over the years should have told them players pull out all the stops and work the hardest in the last year before UFA... but they didn't take that into account...  Rutherford admitted as much in his interview... he said they had budgeted for Bo producing at a similar rate this year as he did in 2021/2022... even though he had improved every year and was still young.  Now when Bo steps up and shows his best year ever, they are unable to give him a fair market value contract.  They wanted to re-sign Bo... now they seemingly can't.

They signed Kuzmenko out of the KHL because they thought he could be a high scoring forward in the NHL.  But despite the glowing reports of their own Scouts surprisingly, they didn't budget for the cost in re-signing him if he performed as they projected he would.  When they signed him initially, they could have locked him down for a couple years at a bargain price... but they preferred to be cheap and make it only one year.  Now they are up against the CAP limit again when it comes to his contract.

This was supposed to be a veteran management group, with vast experience and the knowledge of how to operate within CAP limits.  But what they have shown is the opposite.  They are getting caught out like a bunch of Rookie GM's.

Now they are in desperation mode... trying to unload Horvat, trying to unload Boeser, etc.  Most likely they will not get value for assets because other GM's know they are desperate.  It is possible they will lose Horvat for nothing.... in the same way Benning lost Markstrom, Tanev and Edler for nothing.

Now I am hoping they do pull the rabbit out of the hat and somehow unload excess CAP as well as re-signing Horvat... but it is looking like this is a real longshot.

    Management owns this whole situation.

How?  He comes into NHL on a 1 year ELC.  Unless magically he wanted to play for less than a mill for long term....

And how do you think they will lose Horvat for nothing?  You think they will go against their word and not let UFAs walk?  The dumped Motte last year, whats making you think a 26th place team won't unload Horvat for nothing at the trade deadline?
