Who owns most of the US Debt? The US itself does.
Russ replied to SabreFan1's topic in Off-Topic General
Oh I know but Mosquitos really suck where I am. I am trying to build bat houses because they eat up to something like 10,000 mosquitos a night so I can have less attacking me. And wasps are just assholes, they like to find holes in my lawn then attack me when I go to mow my grass, I have left my lawnmower running and booked it into my house more than once after being attacked haha. -

If mosquitos and wasps died I would be ok with that, outside of that I pretty much am ok with every other insect at the end of the day. -
Well I exceeded my weight loss goal! Down 50lbs this morning from when I started in April. My goal was to drop 35-40 and float around there but have sort of just kept shedding the weight with my diet. Now I just need to get to the gym. Between an ankle injury in the summer, spraining my MCL and currently on 6 weeks with it still hurting, and being sick a couple times now, I just have not had a chance to get to the gym at all for a couple months now and I really want to get into a routine again.

Liberal Government Writes off Billion Dollar Loan to Chrysler
Russ replied to Warhippy's topic in Off-Topic General
Its gonna be really interesting to see what happens if the bubble does somehow burst, really interested in seeing what the government would say about that. -
My old comment was the the guy starting to rant about how bad smoke is for the body and then did a complete 180 and started whining about millenials and the their work eithic and entitlement and not wanting to work for under $30/h.... how he got on that topic is beyond me.
-
Funny how topics change with angry old people haha
-
Pretty much my view on the topic too. As long as it doesn't create more problems, hopefully reduce petty charges on people where the tax payers end up funding jail/prison sentences, and doesn't cost more money from my pocket for peoples stupidity then sure I am ok with it. I am really interested in seeing what the new tax revenue is going to benefit the everyday person.
-
I don't believe so, its only supposed to be cars and homes???
-
Doesn't it have the same rules as smoking? As in you can't just smoke it wherever you want? Personally, I don't like the smell, I have never done it and never felt like I wanted to but if this helps people then good for them. I don't think its going to change much in the way people live their lives. If people did it before they will continue doing it, and I doubt there will be many who will just start smoking up just because its suddenly legal.

Part of their deal was not gaining or loosing anything next expansion. No fee and no loosing any players.

My couple buddies say tons are going on up there, I haven't asked for pictures of construction or anything for ages. What you do for work that you are looking up there? Yea not high paying jobs down here, all the money is up north which sucks because it would mean being away from the family
-
Wow what are the chances they were all chilling there. Well I hope they get things in gear in the spring and I am able to grab a job, would be nice to cash in for a few years to pay off the house, etc.
-
Nope Fraser Valley. Wish I had grabbed a Heavy Equipment Operator job at Site C with my buddy but didn't so I keep googling and looking at LNG now to see if they got camp jobs
-
I really hope they start posting jobs for LNG soon, I wouldn't mind grabbing a camp job if they got them there.

Can he even do something like that? Does he hold the power to postpone an election?

What money is there to invest after they blew 4.5 bill lmao! God I hate the government, just waste tax payers money constantly. Maybe with this mess they should just garnish Trudeau and Milroneys bank accounts to pay for it and not keep the taxpayer on the god damn hook.

Thats the thing, right now "green" energy is not affordable. I don't care what anyone says, this isn't Arizona where its sunny 18 hours a day 365 days a year and solar panels are cost effective. When half of our year is rain/snow, and even more snow outside Lower mainland (ie. Prairies, Ft St John, etc. and with how many power outages we can have in a given year (I had probably 6 days no electricity last year, my parents had over a week), "green" is not currently the answer. If you are telling me its going to take me 25-30 years to pay off a solar roof before I see a "return" on my investment because of weather complications, no thanks, I will take that money and invest it in stocks which will make me more money over a 25 year period while I will continue using my natural gas that is going to my house to heat my home. I am perfectly content being carbon based, do I want the coast wrecked? Hell no! But I live in a reality where right now gas is the cheapest most affordable option and thats not changing for atleast 10 years for me I don't think, tech moves fast, maybe I will be surprised but I doubt it will be anywhere near where I would be able to even consider it any time soon. The people who say "we need to ditch carbon ASAP because the world is burning" I can't stand. Its not like you can just drop the most effective power source in the world and just call it a day. People also conveniently forget to include the fact that the earth is currently in a natural warming cycle, has carbon played a part, yea it has but the earth would currently be warming itself up anyways as it has done throughout history with its warms cycles and ice age cycles. Conveniently the "green" people fail to ever mention that though...
-
Problem is we need to get the Bitumen out of the ground, get the royalties from it so that it can then be invested in green. I would love if the world went green, but the tech isn't currently there and you still need funding to get it going to make it a cheap enough and viable option. I hope the tech keeps taking leeps and bounds and doesn't stagnent and in about 10 years most things can be closer to being green as the costs come down so the average joe can afford it.

I had always hoped that if this pipeline went through (pending it was permitted safe, etc.) that the government would push a lot of the revenue onto green projects to help advance us in that area but yea lest be honest, has the government really ever spent money wisely.....

Has the Western World Lost Moderate/Centrist Politics?
Russ replied to Rob_Zepp's topic in Off-Topic General
The Federal NDP is in a funny spot right now. After some comments a while ago from Jagmeet, I remember reading some "opinions" from papers, etc. where people were complaining that they weren't farther left than even the Liberals and they were getting bashed because of it. I am really interested to see when the next federal election comes around where the NDP fall in the pecking order on topics. But yea there is next to no central anymore. I get bashed by both the right and left friends all the times because I try and take a more central stance. Theres lots of good things about left and right that I like, but there are also tons of things that are wrong. If you're right, you must be a wealthy person who wants all unions and fair wages gone, etc. while if your left you must want open borders and to just let anyone into the country and give people stuff because they were born and are entitled to all these various rights. I really hate the political spectrum, I am more on the right personally that left, I most likely will go conservative next election unless they do something to make me decided opposite but I will try and stay as central as I can. I like to hear what the other side says and like to have healthy conversations but these days its getting harder and harder to have good conversations unfortunately. I fear the extremes are going to get even worse from the USA and spill into other places around the world and create even more of a divide which we most definitely do not need because all its going to do is come down to more violence among citizens. -
Wasn't the problem getting places for people to refuel on Hydrogen? The cost was high to put in a "gas" station for hydrogen and with very little demand for the cars it isn't viable to put them in because they would just blead money.
-
Problem is at a $15+ billion cost to build a refinery, let alone run it, its almost cheaper for consumers to continue sending it to the states. Theres a reason why there were 4-5 refineries about to be built until the 2008 collapse, after that anyone with private money felt oil was to fluid in price to invest in a refinery. I read somewhere he might have the power to veto the ruling because of some law/rule? I can't remember exactly and I didn't look into the source to see if it was legit or not, I will let some journalist do it instead.

I literally re-read that about 6 times trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about. And then I reach the bottom of your post lol.

Soooooo now that its dead can I go and rip up my portion of the pipe my tax dollars paid for and keep the steel? I could really use some steel for projects around the house
