"The company held a special meeting Thursday morning at a Calgary conference centre where shareholders voted by a 99 per cent margin to approve the proposed sale to the federal government." I want to know who the 1% that decided once a pipeline was killed actually voted still to keep it lol.

Wow just wow.... so basically we have 7.4 bill in dead money now for a bunch of pipe currently sitting in the ground not doing anything... I was so livid when they bought this, thought it was the stupidest thing possible because I knew when they "resold" it they would lose money, now they just lost even more.

I do like jake nerwinski, he still has some learning to do. Wish YP Lee was a coach and could teach him a few pointers on how to grab that back post man. But yea the defense has been embarrasing since they started in the league, was a bit better last year but still wasn't great. It was such a blatant foul, why is he getting his leg and arm into the back and head of the opponent. He's bloody 6 inches taller probably with a good vertical, or even better, just let the guy try and flick it on or take it down then go and take the ball for him. Those needless fouls drive me up the bloody wall.

Yup they have pissed away so many bloody points this year with late goals that its become a joke now. Absoultely embarrassing. And is there seriously no one in the organization that can play left D when Marcel is out? Honest to god, Shea is the most god awful defender ever. Absoultely 0 heart and effort every time, does more flybys than I can count and never puts in a half assed effort unless he's going on a run after he had given away his defensive responsibilities all season. Davies should have tracked back on that last goal but Shea had absoultely no man whatsoever. If he did have a "man" he ran towards the center of the net and Shea half assed floated to the back post where the ball went and used a garbage kick attempt to get rid of the ball.

Sorry I expressed that wrong. I just hate hiding costs and vague reasons. Governments are something you live with I just want transparency, which as every government always, they always try and hide costs of stuff, and do stuff that clearly the public disapproves of just to help big private businesses which I absolutely hate. My comment definitely came across wrong when writing it saying I am anti-government, I am more anti-jackass-government.

That carbon tax really pisses me off. Not necessarily that its being implemented but because it was so hidden behind secrecy for ages. I wanted to know what it was going to cost the average Canadian family each year and when they kept getting pressed by both opposition parties on it the Liberals kept trying to deflect the answers to questions for no reason. I understand each government elected is going to do its own sort of agenda and at the end of the day theres next to nothing I can do, even standing on Parlament Hill yelling would fall on most peoples deaf ears. All I want is the government to be transparent, want them to tell the truth (or atleast sort of) and mostly just not keep the people of the country in the dark on all of the matters that are going to effect our every day lives. I guess at the end of the day its hard to care, I can criticize and will criticize each and every party, I am almost more anti-government than anything.

Has the Western World Lost Moderate/Centrist Politics?
Russ replied to Rob_Zepp's topic in Off-Topic General
For most people it seems to be so hard on one side or the other. Each group basically wants to force the other group to believe what they believe and if you don't your labeled ridiculous things. Social media has really brought this to the for front, where groups can hide behind computers and hate on people of either side and then it has created a rage where when the 2 sides somehow meet in the streets all hell seems to break loose for whatever reason. I find myself as fairly centered still, theres lots of things on the left I like with some tweaks and theres lots of things on the right I like with some tweaks. Theres also many many things on both sides I hate and think are radical thinking and moronic statements. -
I tried some of those Monster energy drinks before, every time I had one I felt sick. And that was when I was early 20s.

Ughh... hope my financial investors saw this coming, conveniently I have a meeting with them this afternoon lol

Last I heard its rumored that Davies could be around $10 mill, not sure if they were doing that as CAD, USD, EUR or PND when they were talking about it. Regardless he's going to be the most expensive player the Whitecaps will probably ever buy or sell in their existence. These types of players very very rarely come along and for one to be with the Whitecaps is amazing.

The Rebuild Kicked Off With Acquiring Bo, & Was Completed at 2019 Draft!
Russ replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Canucks Talk
I dont generally condone tanking eventhough I joke about it online, I sort of really want the team to tank simply because the chance to get Jack to join his brother and also the draft in our backyard, I can't see it not being a party if somehow the stars lined up. -
This is the best thing for consumers. I remember my wife and I got screwed out of a house because the selling realtor wouldn't answer our realtor for 3 days and then finally gets ahold of us and says "oh sorry didn't see your messages we just accepted an offer this morning" oh many was my realtor pissed because he hated that shady crap. He did some digging and found out he ended up being both the buying and selling. Was a real piss off, was a nice place in Mission we would have loved to have lived but oh well, ended up with something as nice or better in the end for a bit more. I just figure realtors will go find their buddy, give them one of the clients and then get a cut of the sales from the second realtor. Concept is great but I am sure guys will find a way around it. I know many realtors who wouldn't push for trying to be dual realtors themselves but if it happened then it would just happen. Its the dicks who have buyers, look around, get a seller and just match them up instantly to make the extra quick buck.

Meh touche, I guess thats true. I can usually only smell it for maybe 24 hours after they spray the fields which might be once a month or so. Really doesn't bother me anymore these days.

Garrison is pretty nice, little to cramped for my liking and a little to ritzy. I will gladly visit there but could never move out there. I prefer acreage where I can barely hear or see my neighbours like I have currently so it suits me just fine for now I am just bugging you haha. Outside of a couple days a month that odor isn't noticable. But damn is Chilliwack starting to boom. Houses frickin galore, moved here to have my space but thats being taken away quickly now!
-
Hey hey hey now don't you go bashing my Chilliwack!

This is what I most rather would have had the government go and spend 4.5 bill on rather than a pipeline....
-
If this is true and they could somehow scale it up this is what the governments should be throwing their money at
-
Thats the thing. Ideally if even they broke even then it wouldn't be the end of the world but how often does the government ever make a profit off stupid purchases? Oh well only time will tell I guess...
-
Haha thats funny. When I did framing years ago I met a guy on our crew who used to be a biologist. He said he had education up the wazoo, was a top student, etc. but he said there was next to no money in biology. Was making 45k a year at the time with almost no chance to make much more in the field he said even moving somewhere else and he said after a year in framing he was making as much if not more. I don't know how reliable thetyee is as a paper but yea I have heard 12 bill at the lowest, and probably closer to 15-16 when its all said and done. Maybe it is up to 20 bill at the end up of it, has a government project ever not run stupidly over priced before anyways? Either way I am still pissed we spent a dime of tax payers dollars on the pipeline. I truely hope this is the end of Trudeau, we have had so much tax payers money spent so stupidly and given away around the world it drives me insane and when he came here last year for the forest fires and told BCers that they wouldn't get any federal funding and felt BCers should continue to help donate to redcross etc to help their fellow BCers out in a time of crisis when many people are already financially strapped because of low pay and high taxes on everything, that basically took the bit of likeness I still didn't mind with him and made me say "go F*** yourself Trudeau". Why they can't fix up the refineries in Alberta is still beyond me, rather see my tax dollars go and fix those and try and help Canadian jobs more than shipping crude to China.

Im getting close to 30 and between my wrist and my ankle injuries, man it sucks trying to work out sometimes. Theres days where it feels great and days where I pick up 30 lbs and my wrist is just like "nope not happening today buddy"
-
yea they did that already with that BS speculation tax. Friends parents sold their place at Cultus that they had for 30 years because the 2% tax would have destroyed them financially. Well just read the story and it says its down to .5% for BC residents, still that wasn't the number when people were trying to dump their properties before going broke.
-
None of the 3 candidates show promise, next election is going to be a gong show...
-
Oh trust me I know, it was plastered everywhere. Probably the stupidest thing Trudeau could have said, I thought it would have bit him in the ass at elections but I am sure it will come back to haunt him when it comes to re-election. I think next election is going to get almost American style nasty where things will be more slander rather than actually showing plans to make the country better.
-
When will that be though? I don't know, whos going to buy it and for what price? Would it just be more beneficial to keep it running as a Canada revenue stream instead of selling it off? Oh well, what can you do? 4.5 bill to buy it isn't a drop in the bucket, thats a lot of bridges, roads, etc. that aren't going to be built, fires that wont get federal funding to put them out, etc. Thats a hard pill to swallow as a tax payer, especially when you see 750 mill going over seas to India in "investments" or millions and millions going to various countries. How long can we constantly put up with so many tax dollars going overseas and being spent stupidly before our economy collapses because of the crippling debt. Oh well I guess the "buget will just balance themselves"
