  1. Its a long shot, but I guess its possible. Lot of ground to make up with 20 games left.
  2. Definitely, I thought that at the start of the season, they need to rip it apart and put it back together. They have the pieces and assets to build a Cup team, but they need a major overhaul on how everything fits together.
  3. I think Stecher gets moved before or at the draft for a pick. I think Eriksson will retire this summer, which will free up 6 million in space (hey, lets dare to believe in Santa), and I think Tanev takes a minor discount to stay, signs for somewhere between 5.5 and 5.75 million per for 4 seasons. I'm only guessing, but that's what I see happening. I think there are teams out there who would look at Stecher at 2.5 - 3 million as an upgrade on their middle pairing.
  4. Yes, Tampa needed to move him for cap reasons. Do you really think that Benning was the only GM interested in him? We got good value on a guy who has become integral to our team. Would we really be chasing the playoffs this year without him???
  5. Yes, although I think we will extend Tanev and probably trade Stecher after the playoffs. I don't believe that we won't qualify him. He's not same situation as Hutton. There was a real scenario where we could have been paying Hutton over 4 million per season if we qualified him.
  6. So, we spent a 1st and a 3rd to get Miller, NYI just spent a 1st and a 2nd for Pageau. I'd say we easily got the better value for our picks.
  7. Benning views Toffoli and Miller as his deadline moves. He spent high draft picks ahead of the deadline to get the guys he wanted.
  8. If we do anything, I think it will be minor. From one standpoint, I wouldn't mind seeing us move Baerstchi, but on the other hand, I won't be disappointed if this gets pushed to summer and he's here for Utica playoff run. I could see if trying to move Benn, but only if Benning feels confident that he'll have Tryamkin back in a few weeks. I'm sure there are tweaks that we can make to the Canucks and Utica, but they are just that, tweaks. I don't see anything that would upgrade us in a substantial way, past what Benning already did in acquiring Toffoli. My guess is, he'll let this team stand as it is and see how they run.
  9. I really think that we will have Tryamkin coming back in about 3 weeks. Hoping at least, he would be a punishing force on the blueline.
  10. Is Buffalo going to flip him? Trying to figure out how this makes sense for them. I can’t see how Simmonds would help them make up enough ground to grab a Wild Card spot
  11. How about we just sign Tryamkin in 3 weeks (maybe less), and get ready for the playoffs?
  12. I don't think he'll be quite as good as Hughes, but if he's 75% of what Hughes is, we got one hell of a mid round pick.
  13. Sucks to be them! If this doesn't trigger an overhaul, nothing will.
  14. My point was, if you look around the NHL, most teams are paying their 5/6 guys significantly less than 2.55 million. If Bogosian is down at 750k to 1 million, there will be a lot of interest.
  15. Why when there's cheaper 5/6 options out there. The teams who would be interested, can't afford 2.55 ,they are squeezing everywhere to afford additions. At 750k to 1 million, there will be takers.
  16. He needs a year in Utica, very unlikely that he makes this team out of camp next year. Watch for him to be signed and assigned to Utica when his season in Sweden wraps up.
  17. He looked great until the injury, hopefully we keep him around for next season as well.
  18. Really hope he's back in a month. Big boost for our defense, no trade required.
  19. Okay, so there's a method to encouraging Loui to retire this summer. #1. We need his mailing address #2. We sign him up for EVERY piece of literature that we can, including email mailing lists about retirement living / communities / you name it. #3. We send @Alflives to visit him and "encourage" him, that he'd find the fan base, much happier with him, if he wasn't actually on the team.... Nothing illegal, just some gentle nudging....maybe call BC Hydro and tell them that he's moving....:)
