  1. Stecher will get traded, there's enough upside in him, plays a solid game, would be an improvement in 5/6 pairing on a lot of NHL teams and is not a bad rate. Roussel, I believe that they will keep, he's had a rough year, but he was injured and that takes time to fully recover from. I think you're right, there's a good chance that they will try and move Benn and Sutter I agree on the resign, they will also resign Markstrom, probably about 6 million. Your list of changes is really pretty close to mine. I really think LE retires.
  2. Wow, if there's this much activity a week out, I wonder if next Monday is going to be REALLY nuts, or just crickets...
  3. You would think today was the trade deadline. All the good options are going to be gone by next Monday lol
  4. He said at least. He started at 7 and then said, probably more, but was later in the interview. We have a lot to be excited about!
  5. Madden could come back to bite us, but at the same time, we have 3 young centers, and I don't see him replacing any of them. So, this really was just a matter of time until he got moved to address a need somewhere else. The advantage of the depth that Benning has built up for us is, we can afford to do that now. Benning also said in his interview, that he'll look at options to pickup other draft picks before the draft. He's going to have an active summer of reworking the team to make room for everyone.
  6. Could be, remember that they start earlier than the NHL.
  7. Its really hard to keep track, this team has never had this kind of prospect depth.
  8. I believe his season is done before end of Feb, but then playoffs. Have heard that its likely that his team will be a first round exit. If that happens, and the schedule that I looked up on the KHL website is correct, he could be here mid March.
  9. My list is close; MacEwan Podkolzin Lind Hoglander Tryamkin Rathbone Juolevi Rafferty Likely Woo He said at least 7 probably more. In fact, from his comments, I don't think he even included MacEwan in his estimate as they seem to believe that he's already here to stay.
  10. These are the notes I took, in some cases inferred from the conference: - Boeser is worse than they thought, he's at least 8 weeks out, could be sooner, but will be reevaluated by doctors in 3 weeks and revise timeline if necessary - Ferland played first period and didn't feel right so, took himself out of the game, will continue to work with specialists and will see if he's able to resume next season. - Leivo will be reevaluated in next few days, but is gone at least until the end of the season, possibly playoffs as well, but they don't know for sure yet. They didn't say this, but it sounded like Benning was saying that they are waiting to see if he will need surgery. - Motte is practicing and is really close, should be playing again shortly - MacEwan might need to go down again, but they see him now as an NHL player and that they expect him to be on the team next year out of camp. They are happy with his play and how strong he is along the boards. Pretty much indicated that MacEwan made Schaller completely expendable. - They said that they considered bringing up Baerstchi or Boucher, and that they may still get an opportunity through the end of the season, both have played well in Utica and that Boucher is engaging, driving to the net and playing a much better 2 way game than he has in past. - Said that they made the trade because that wanted to show the fans, coaches and players that they believe in this team and group of guys that they have here and that the needed someone who could step in for Boeser and perform. They weren't specifically looking to make this trade until Boeser went down. - Said that they believe that they have at least 7 guys in the pipeline right now, either in Utica, Junior or College, who they expect will be full time Canucks over the next 2 or 3 years and because of that, they felt that they could afford to move a prospect and that they felt that center was a position that they could sacrifice from. - Doesn't like to move draft picks, but felt it was necessary at this point. - Will talk with Toffoli after the season is over about staying long term, said he was thrilled to be coming to Vancouver with the strong mix of young talent that has been assembled here, is looking forward to competing for playoffs again. - Said that he's not specifically looking to make other moves ahead of the deadline, but isn't opposed to it, will see what's out there and if anything makes sense. My general feeling was, especially after saying that he thinks at least 7 guys are ready for full time over the next 2 - 3 years, that he sees a number of guys will be signed out of Junior and college over the next 8 weeks. If we're not looking for more help with defense, I think it probably means (making assumption) that the believes that he will be bringing Tryamkin back.
  11. So, Leivo also done for at least the regular season. We suddenly have a LOT of LTIR. So, according to CapFriendly.com, we have used $4,945,000 of $10,875,000 current LTIR. We're looking at $5,590,834 still available, which is more than enough to bring in Tryamkin as well.
  12. Personally, I don't think the play in question was where the real injury happened, I think he'd been fighting this for a couple of weeks and that play just aggravated it and made it a lot worse. I could be wrong, but that's my theory on it at least. He was struggling before he left the lineup, so it kind of makes sense that he was trying to play through something.
  13. Just heard that too. He's likely down for 8 weeks. They will reevaluate in 3 weeks, but its worse than originally thought, he's likely done till at least the first round. Sucks!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Although I agree that our defense could still use some work, I can't see this happening. I think if there's a solid belief that we will be able to sign Tryamkin and bring him in before the end of the year, either Benn or Stecher, could be moved. I think up front, JB likes the depth that we have and the overall mix.
  15. I agree, I think this injury was there for a couple of weeks, I think he just really aggravated it during his last game. I think that’s why his production was down, he was trying to play through it. Glad they are treating now, so he’ll be ready for the playoffs.
  16. No, its not what I said, but there are many ways to "encourage" someone to retire, and there's nothing at all illegal about it. Eriksson can't keep up, even if the Canucks buy him out, he would have a lot of trouble getting a contract with any other team in the NHL at this point. Which would equal, retirement.
  17. Every season, we hear about how we won't have cap space, and every season, we wind up with enough cap space to cover things. It always works out, we always have other players who wind up on LTIR, it happens EVERY year, without exception.
  18. There's nothing illegal in informing someone that they will be playing in Utica next season, a LOOOONNNNGGGG way from where his family lives. If you think that's illegal, you need to be talking to a different lawyer.
  19. I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that Benning has a plan for dealing with that, which we don't know about. We have players who won't likely be with the team next year (Eriksson), who will free up room for those bonuses.
  20. In these circumstances, its not necessarily a bad thing. It just measn that we have to make sure that we do everything to encourage Eriksson to retire this summer.
  21. Goodbye Tyler Madden thread, we'll miss following you and pulling for you... Good luck with your future, but not when you're playing against the Canucks....
  22. Really glad they aren't even going to try again this season. I think there's a really high chance that he's done permanently, but time will tell. Sucks for him, but he needs to think about his long-term health for his family as well. He has young kids who need him around without a completely scrambled brain.
  23. Yes, the announcement came out today, he is done for the season but will continue to be evaluated. I rewatched that fight, I still really think that he wasn't 100% when he came to camp. I think he was still dealing with borderline symptoms from last season and they just finally caught up with him in that fight.
