  1. Fingers still crossed that he'll be back and will be able to fill that role for us.
  2. I think Stecher is the guy that the ream feels that they can replace from within. I could definitely see him get moved during summer.
  3. There is absolutely chance that both guys are back. We have the cap space to do it. Markstrom I believe will definitely be back and probably signed before the deadline (just a hunch). Tanev, we will sign unless we feel there is someone else ready to step in. I think Taneve wants to stay here, and Benning likes depth and competition for positions. To me, that means he's likely back.
  4. Doesn't matter, looking at who steps into the role in general on defense.
  5. I actually see either Brisebois or Utunen as a target to replace Tanev. Brisebois I think is much closer to NHL of course, but I think Utunen might have the highest ceiling as a defensive player.
  6. Stay the course, works for me! Pretty sure that's what Benning is doing anyway
  7. In this city, YES. If it made the team stronger and gave us a better chance to win, Aqua wouldn't have an issue with it. Its not like this team isn't profitable.
  8. Who would have thought a year ago, that this season, after the All Star break, that this team would be in control of its own destiny for the year. If we just match record with the rest of the teams in the division for the rest of the season, we will finish first in the Pacific. How cool and awesome is that?
  9. Would rather resign Tanev. We have our offense from defense, finally coming together. We need to maintain strong defensive group as well. Resign Tanev for 6 million per for 3 years.
  10. My thoughts exactly. The way we are playing, everyone wants to make changes and trades, but in the last 5 weeks, this team has about the BEST record in the league. Yes, there have been games where they fall apart, but that's also about being a young team. We have a strong leadership core around the young players, EXACTLY what Benning has been talking about achieving, and we are bouncing back after a bad game, and let's face it, EVERY team in the league has games they would like to forget happened. We are finally in a place where we have the depth to win a long series in a war of attrition, and some fans want to blow that up and start again and bring in guys who do nothing but shuffle the deck for no purpose.
  11. To go deep in the playoffs, you need depth guys like this. All good teams load up on this type of players. Eriksson is not going anywhere at this point, until summer. Baerstchi is the only guy on your list that I would consider moving at the deadline, and that’s just because I think that he deserves a chance to get back to the NHL and I can’t see his situation improving next season if he’s still here.
  12. Expansion draft is coming up in 2021, and although I trust that Benning will make a deal for who gets chosen, there's the possibility of losing a goalie. Would much rather lean on Demko in case of injuries, until we have no choice. DiPietro is not ready.
  13. Its incredible how much fans undervalue Tanev. When he's healthy, we are a far better team defensively. Its not all about goal scoring, his blocking shots and suppressing chances are a massive part of our success this year. He's having a generally healthy season, if he wasn't we'd be struggling more.
  14. Depth, why do so few fans get this? Demko isn't going anywhere.
  15. Unless this team suffers a complete breakdown after the All star break, there's not a chance in hell that we trade Tanev unless its for a windfall of assets. Benning likes how this team looks and is performing, I'm not sure why people aren't getting that. Anything that we do before the deadline, will be lateral, tweaking of prospects, and possibly trying to offload Baerstchi's contract and get him back to playing in the NHL with someone, which he really deserves.
  16. I do too. We're moving out of rebuild and into win now. To do that, we really need to figure out exactly who is able to push to that extra level.
  17. You know, as much as its fun to speculate on "What if..." and "How would we look if we did this...", I kind of like the way this team looks now and would really be happy if the deadline passed with nothing more than a couple of lateral trades like possibly moving Baerstchi out for a mid range pick. Unless there's an upgrade that comes at an unbelievable deal, I would be just as happy to let this years playoffs be a benchmark of how far the team has come and then look at trying to push harder next year. We need to see how these guys really work together under pressure and who is going to be able to take their game to that next level under playoff pressure conditions.
  18. Interesting idea, but it leans too close to the idea that we're ready to push for the finals this year (we actually might be, really depends on how other team injuries go). I would say that if we were going to try something like this, and I'm really not completely sold on the idea, something that "might" interest the Devils would be; To NJ: Madden Stecher Baerstchi 2020 3rd round pick To Vancouver: Palmieri B level prospect 2020 5th round pick Sending Madden out, I really hate that idea, but we would need to include something to make this attractive. We would need them to take back Baerstchi, who I think would work pretty well in NJ, as a way to balance out our cap numbers. Moving out Stecher makes room for testing Rafferty in Vancouver as well as for us to sign Tryamkin in a few months, This would also free up one other contract spot for us against our 50 contract cap (we're currently at 47) and give us more room to dip into the College free agent market as well. Again, not really endorsing this move, but I think this is closer in line to what it would take.
  19. I think your numbers are a little off. I think Tanev is probably closer to 6 million as is Markstrom as they have UFA status as leverage. I think Virtanen is around 2.75, Gaudette I think is around 1.75 - 2. Other than that, I think your numbers are fairly close. Other changes, I think Benn will likely be moved, and I won't be surprised if Stecher is as well as he deserves to be playing bigger overall minutes. I think they will make room for Tryamkin to step in. I think they will try and bring Fantenberg back at about 975k for insurance. He's been pretty good this year. I think we'll see Juolevi and Rafferty given an opportunity to prove that they should be in the lineup next season. If fans thing the level of competition for jobs was crazy this year, wait till next. Going to be a whole new level. So awesome to finally have this team back where it should be
  20. I had actually considered started a similar thread as you see in a lot of posts, people want Benning to make decisions now, based on what "could" happen in the expansion draft in summer of 2021. When the expansion draft comes up. We will lose someone, but not too worried about that now. With the depth that we now have as an organization, we can always make a deal with Seattle, to flip them a 2nd rounder or something, in exchange for taking the player that we want them to take. We know that Benning is good at finding other solid prospects in later rounds, losing a 2nd round pick would be a good option to control who gets chosen. For now, let's just enjoy the team that we have, and trust Benning to make it work in future, that we don't lose anyone that we need around for the long term.
  21. Not likely going to happen. Players at their stage of career want more guaranteed. I know exactly what the attraction is for the Canucks, but I can't see them taking that route.
