[GDT] Kings @ Nucks Dec 28, 2019 - 7pm - HNIC/SNET

I missed the start, is Benn injured or just sitting tonight? -
I think if he comes back, and we don’t have anybody down injured on the blue line, that we’ll see Stecher get moved for prospect or pick.
-
Rafferty is a really good, exciting prospect, but he has only proven that he can play and produce in the AHL. Let’s see how he does when he gets a real test in the NHL before we start trading proven NHL defensemen to make room for him. He’ll get an opportunity soon enough.

I think Hischier will have an okay career, but I'd be really worried about Patrick if I'm Phily. Even before they drafted him, he was having issues staying healthy for a full season in Junior. I think its between Maker and Pettersson as to who the best player in the 2017 draft was. I think Pettersson has a slight edge, but Maker is pretty impressive. With how Lind and DiPietro are developing in Utica this season, and Rathbone in College, the 2017 draft is looking pretty strong for us.

Doesn't matter if you are or not. The fact is, we'd be in a better spot right now, and heading into next summer if we could do this swap, even if it meant not qualifying Ho Sang at the end of June. Doing the proposed trade (which, granted, won't happen), would immediately gain us 2.3 million in additional cap space that we can work with. I have no real desire to see Ho Sang join us, either.
-
I would actually do that trade in a minute. The reason is simple. One guy is on a contract worth about 3.3 million and change, taking up space that we could really use. The other is on an ELC worth a little under 900k and takes up zero cap on an NHL team. I would happily include a 4th rounder to make that exchange happen.
-
He's there for another 18 months. That's not necessarily a bad thing, this kid is only 18 years old, he still has a LOT of developing to do. If he was coming up through the North American Junior systems, he would still have this year and next before he'd be eligible to move to Utica and start gaining the type of experience that he's already gaining in Russia. As an 18 year old, he's being moved actively from their version of the AHL, up to the KHL for experience and then back for bigger minutes. I think fans forget how young he is. No one is going to try and get him out of his contract, they are happy with the development path that he's on.

I think Subban is quickly moving past his best before date. I think NJ is realizing this and just wants to clear 9 million off their books. If it was Baertschi, Eriksson and a third for Subban with 2 million retained, what the hell!

(Proposal) Vancouver-Arizona blockbuster

I don't think running an NHL team is anywhere in your future. At all..... -
[Rumor] Kovalchuk done in LA?
VegasCanuck replied to HerrDrFunk's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So, I'm noticing on CapFriendly.com, Kovalchuk shows as terminated, but his full cap hit is still on Los Angeles. With Richards, I guess they felt justified in terminating him for substance issues and the league imposed a recapture penalty. In this case, it looks like he's just been terminated and essentially being paid his full salary to do nothing. That's a pretty good deal for Kovalchuk, Here's 6.25 million per year to sit at home and play couch potato..... It should be noted, in case any NHL teams are reading this, I can be available to play couch potato for a LOT less than that, if any of them wish to put me on salary.... -
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, how crazy would this board have gone, if we did this trade with some guys from Utica as well as potentially 2 First Round picks? What if we included Lind or Gadj? This was a really steep price for Arizona to pay, but they need to show the fans of Arizona that they are serious about making the playoffs and pushing a round or two.
-
Definitely wouldn't, but with Baertschi, I think there are team out there, now dealing with injuries, who would take a chance on him, who wouldn't have on pre season waivers. I've had the feeling for a couple of years, that Baertschi would be the odd man out eventually, due to the style of game that he plays, and that we have others in the system who play a similar game, but cheaper.
-
When teams are struggling to meet the cap and submit their opening night roster, its not as easy as fans on this board think, to claim someone off waivers. It generally means making a last minute decision to waive someone else from your lineup. Once someone has cleaned waivers, it actually becomes easier to make deals.
-
My personal take on this is, the Canucks want to have someone around as a 7th D, and they are mixing it up so that different guys are getting rewarded, and the benefit of some time with the main team and better overall training staff. Unless someone else goes down to injury, my guess would be that in a couple of weeks, Brisebois gets returned back to the Comets and Rafferty gets called up for some time up here.
-
As long as we get the injuries on the Blue Line that I know we're ALL looking forward to, and OJ can stay healthy the rest of the season, I think he gets his first NHL game sometime before the end of this season.
-
Why isn't anyone taking Lind????
-
I think he'll be back in Utica before the end of their season. As soon as his season wraps up in Finland, I believe the intention is to have him back there. I think he was sent to Finland due to overcrowding in Utica. I think they felt his development would be better served over there.
