  1. Maybe, next week, we should all go through and change our Usernames to: OffendedFan#1, OffendedFan#2, OffendedFan#3 etc, etc...
  2. That comment was made by CFO during my call with him. I have never seen it substantiated and I don't believe it. In a public forum, you can't control what people post, you can only deal with them after the fact, and the moderators on this board have, in my opinion, always been exceptional at maintaining and filtering content that is offensive. Unfortunately I don't have a recording of the call and I doubt that it would have been agreed to and in Canada, you are required by law to disclose if a call is being recorded, but that statement was made by and executive within Canucks organization regarding this board.
  3. Not to mention, the Canucks Mobile app, really SUCKS! It's only got a little over 10,000 downloads and only rates 3.3 stars on Google Play. There's no creativity in it, they basically took the website and put it in an app where it takes up space on my phone. I can get the same usage and coverage by having the site bookmarked on Chrome!
  4. Really appreciate your response and feedback. You checked every single box that I've been hammering on as well. I've got a lot of experience in working with fortune 500 companies and this decision really baffles me, giving up this level of communication without at least trying to engage and fix the relationship first. When they fired Benning and brought in a new management team, it was promised by Aquilini, right down through management, the directive was for open, honest and transparent communication and information. This represents a 100% abandonment of that policy and a slap in the face of everyone who made this board so strong in past. The failure is theirs, 100%
  5. Personally, I don't know where they got that from. Now, keep in mind that the person that came from is not in marketing and really doesn't have any responsibility around fan interaction. If I'm going to push them further, it will be to get back on a call with the President of Business Operations as he's the one who has control, all the way through the business side of things and would be a direct report to Aquilini.
  6. I agree with you in general and was actually going to expand on my answer once I got to my desk and not typing on my phone (had to get the kid out the door as well). Price of the system that drives this at the level I believe its set at is $229 per month, I "think" that's US Dollars and yes, I'm pretty sure that there's enough support within the board to cover that fee through donations. Last night, I created a poll on this board to get feedback and find out what members really wanted and whether I should continue pushing the issue with Canucks. So far, it's kind of a mixed bag of responses, but the leading option is to Keep Pushing, but if I add up all votes on all options, the general consensus so far is moving towards let this go, but let them know what they have lost as an organization, but also to see what they might be willing do to help the new board that Ribs has created. To expand on my earlier response of Why I'm doing this, their decision to just walk away and shut down the board I find as very disrespectful, not just to the fan base that in past has made this board a thriving community, but also really to the Administrator, @-SN- and all the Moderators @diesel_3, @Templeton Peck, @b3., @-DLC-, @-Vintage Canuck-, @-AJ- and @Roger Neilsons Towel who put a lot of time and energy into this board with no evidence of any real support from the Canucks organization as a whole. Francesco Aquilini owns this team, but his success with it in Vancouver since he bought it, in my opinion, is due in part to the individuals who have kept this board running smoothly through a lot of team adversity. The Aquilini family paid 250 million for the team and Forbes now estimates that it's worth 1.01 Billion. That increase doesn't happen without a highly engaged and active fan base and all of the individuals I've mentioned above represent a part of that 4X increase in Aquilini's net wealth through keeping fans engaged, even when the on-ice product has sucked. There's no real simple and easy full answer to your question and I could literally keep writing here for a long time on what I see wrong with Canucks strategy and their thought process around this decision. The only team leadership that I've seen that I truly believe made fans a true part of the organization decision process was Brian Burke. He got out and engaged fans at every opportunity and did the work on the streets to make the hockey market in Vancouver as strong as it is. The rest of them have had a relatively easy ride in this market, largely because of his work and since he left, it's boards like this one that have fostered real fan engagement, far more than the Canucks marketing team. I think that the Canucks organization would have a really hard time finding anyone on this board who feel that things getting to a stage where they make a decision to just shut it down, is anything less that a total failure to involve themselves and engage with fans and make them feel like they are a part of the success of this team. Everyone here is a part of the teams overall success and we ALL make their jobs necessary. At the end of the day, no matter where this board resides, I'm asking them to respect it, the people who run it and the fans that they have disconnected from and understand that the failure is 100% on them! Hope that does a better job of answering your question!
  7. Ultimately, I'm trying to get them to do something I've never seen them really do, engage with the fan base that is in this board. Moving to the new board is great, but there's significant costs associated to the organizers. The people in this board promote Canuck hockey at a grassroots level. I'm trying to get them to see the power of that and maybe find new ways to grow the fan base not just here, but potentially across the NHL.
  8. Okay, based on comments coming through so far, I added one more option to the poll if anyone wants to change their answers. I'm not going to be messaging anyone back at Canucks.com again for a day or two. So far, consensus is just move to the new board, which I'm generally good with. I agree that they have lost a significant opportunity here...
  9. Hi Guys, So, I have the attention of 2 guys, especially one specifically regarding the ultimate fate of this board. I'm happy to keep pushing this, but only if it is making a difference to fans here and if you're wanting to be heard. I view their decision to shut down the board as a direct and complete failure of past Canuck Management, Executives and marketing department to engage with this board, it's leadership and moderators and empower them and give them the tools to build, grow and retain membership. Hockey community building and fan creation starts with the type of passionate fans who have been posting in this board for years. If you want me to keep up a dialog with them and see how far I can take this, then you see the Poll. If you're saying yes, then I would suggest that you also send them an email, all the addresses that I'm about to provide below, are live and accept outside email. They have all seen the initial email that I sent as well as 1 reply to all from the President of Business Operations and then my Reply to All when answering him back on his request to talk. At the end of the day. if nothing else, I want them to notice THIS board, no matter where it's ultimately hosted and start to engage and help it grow towards the goal of supporting hockey in Vancouver, and it's fans who make their jobs possible. If you decide to email the people I'm listing below, please do a reply here so that we can get a running total of how many people are delivering a message of solidarity to them. If you're on Twitter (X), you might want to also try tagging Francesco as well on your thoughts of them shutting this down. Here's the list of relevant email addresses and their titles. Again, please let me know if you send them a message: Kelsey Philpott, Senior VP of Marketing Email: kelsey.philpott@canucks.com Molly Ray, VP Live Entertainment Email: molly.ray@canucks.com Wynn Moody, VP Fan Experience Email: wynn.moody@canucks.com Alex Oxenham, Senior Director, Community Engagement & Social Impact Email: alex.oxenham@canucks.com Hannah Wilkinson, Director of Marketing Email: hannah.wildinson@canucks.com Laurie Block, Director of Partnership Marketing (Don't underestimate her value in this) Email: laurie.block@canucks.com Jill White, Director Merchandise Email: jill.white@canucks.com Myles McCutcheon, Director of Content Email: myles.mccutcheon@canucks.com Craig MacEwen, Director of Communications Email: craig.macewen@canucks.com John Delaney, Director of Social Media Email: john.delaney@canucks.com
  10. See my last post as well. For the new board to really survive and grow, it will need support. That comes easier with Canuck support. Not happy with their decision, tell them! All the email addresses that you need to send them a group message are included in my post and I know for a 100% fact that they are all deliverable addresses, there is no blocking of outside messages as there is on the Hockey Operations side, the business side is wide open to receive communication.
  11. Just as another note, if you want to share your opinion on their move to shut down this board and the fact that they are quitting on a passionate group of fans instead of looking to fix what's wrong, I've already shared earlier in the thread, all the email addresses. They are taking notice of direct communication, my only thoughts and requests would be, deliver the message but keep it positive and respectful because at the end of the day, that's what's going to get results. Regardless of the outcome, the core objective of what I'm doing is to get them to start to engage whether its forum.canucks.com or forumcanucks.com. We can grow either board far more effectively with their cooperation and potentially, access to some of their resources. I have a direct and positive dialog going with their Chief Revenue Officer as well as the President of Canucks Business Operations, so let me just continue that communication stream as I don't think harassing those 2 are going to get us much further. Others who should be hearing more opinions on this are listed below. How many fans here are willing to send them a direct email and tell them that this decision SUCKS without directly offending them? You want to prove to someone that you're alive, breath in their face! Tell them that you think they're quitting on the forum instead of fixing the issues and lack of engagement. Without passionate fans, ALL of these people are looking for other jobs. The decision to shut this down is a direct reflection of failures within the Canucks organization, nothing more, nothing less. Drop them a line! Kelsey Philpott, Senior VP of Marketing Email: kelsey.philpott@canucks.com Molly Ray, VP Live Entertainment Email: molly.ray@canucks.com Wynn Moody, VP Fan Experience Email: wynn.moody@canucks.com Alex Oxenham, Senior Director, Community Engagement & Social Impact Email: alex.oxenham@canucks.com Hannah Wilkinson, Director of Marketing Email: hannah.wildinson@canucks.com Laurie Block, Director of Partnership Marketing (Don't underestimate her value in this) Email: laurie.block@canucks.com Jill White, Director Merchandise Email: jill.white@canucks.com Myles McCutcheon, Director of Content Email: myles.mccutcheon@canucks.com Craig MacEwen, Director of Communications Email: craig.macewen@canucks.com John Delaney, Director of Social Media Email: john.delaney@canucks.com
  12. I've had stuff walked back before by some really large companies. This decision wasn't made at the very top, if they can be made to understand that there's a bigger picture here, then they can reverse course. The idea that in past we've have over 5500 fans online at one time shows what can be done and what can happen. The fact that everything got to the stage that they felt it was a good idea to just shut this down is a direct reflection of failures within the Canucks organization, on the ice, within the rebuild and in their past leadership within Canuck marketing teams. Quitting on the fans is not a good way to project a strong future or communicate that the team has turned a corner and is ready to get things done throughout the organization. For the people who have enjoyed this forum over the years, they ARE quitting on us!
  13. Completely with you on that. My objective is a couple of things. #1. If we can get them to walk this back, awesome, things remain as normal, but now that I have some direct contact with the team, hopefully we can improve communication and get resources to actually start building membership back up. #2. If they really want to follow through and cut this off, then maybe we can still find a way to get some support / funding for this operating in exile as the new system shouldn't fall completely on @-SN- to bankroll. This platform can get expensive on a yearly basis, up over $6,000 per year, which also boggles me, this system isn't rocket science, shouldn't cost that much as a license. At the end of the day, we want them to start engaging and stop treating the forum as the ugly stepchild.
  14. Just exchanged emails, no update yet, it's probably going to be next week before they get a chance to fully cover this off with the team.
  15. Good trade! We move out a forward, we had too many, free up some cap space and we get stronger in net. Awesome job! I think they still want to move Myers, but this allows that to move to the backburner. RD are a premium in the NHL, this allows us to go into camp and let our defense prospects prove that they can outplay him before we move him. Johansson, Woo, Juulsen, the door is open for one of you to step up and step through!
  16. Agree completely. The door is open at least, I have the attention of the President of Canucks Business Operations and the Chief Revenue Officer. Now, we'll see if they are listening to their fans. I might do another follow up email with some clips for them of other posts that have been placed on here since this announcement happened, no the impact it's had on people's lives.
  17. Okay, so was a generally productive call with Terry, he's the Chief Revenue Officer for the Canucks business side of the organization. Generally, this is action of shutting down the forum is coming from Marketing as they only see about 500 fans actively posting every month. I've addressed that in a follow up email to them which I'll post shortly. The Canucks Marketing team meets every Tuesday morning and the Canucks forum WILL be on tomorrow's meeting agenda. Some of the concerns that they have within the organization is the amount of negative messaging and even some stuff that they consider racist. This has been creating negative feedback and issues within the season ticket base as well as their advertiser community. I told him that there was always going to be some of that, but that the moderators within this board do an excellent job overall of policing that as do some of the other fans at calling out people who are pushing over a line. Here's a screenshot of the email that I just sent back to both Michael and Terry. I'm presenting all information back to the base here as, this is the level of engagement and active feedback that I feel should have been coming directly from the team for some time and I told Terry as much. No guarantees, but I've asked them directly to open the door and let us (ALL OF US) be a part of the discussion and find a way to evolve the forum into a model for the rest of the league. Cheers.
  18. Call is over, update coming in a few min, just composing follow up email....
  19. So, as outlined earlier in the this thread, I have a call today with senior management within Canucks Business side of the team. If they intend to follow through on deactivating this forum, I'm hoping to be able to convince them to allow for a historical backup of the existing system. I really think that I can convince them that shutting this board down is a ludicrous idea and that they need to be engaging and growing it instead.
  20. You got it! Let's see what happens on Monday! My first call is with their Chief Revenue Officer. Should be interesting...
  21. Speaking with Canucks at 2pm on Monday... The ride might not be over...
  22. Michael is engaging with me, we are figuring out a time to speak directly. STAY TUNED!!!
