  1. You mean the Brossoit who finished the season on Injured Reserve??? Numbers last year were. 2.90 GAA and .895 Save percentage on a pretty good team. Thompson might give them reasonable option, but would you want to ride a whole season on a guy who just signed a 766k cap hit for 3 seasons?
  2. Ok, let's see what there is on CapFriendly...hmmmmm, here's some interesting options! Holtby....ohhhh wait, out for season with surgery. Ohhhhhh, Tyler Wall....wait, WHO???? Roman Durny....???????? Tyler Parsons????????????????????? ooooooo....I know, Andrew Hammond....wait, he only played 11 games last year, 3.89 goals against and .879 save percentage on a really good team... Ahhhhh, here we are, Cory Schneider, someone get out the smelling salts, a hand truck and some duct tape, we'll just wheel him out there every night. Problem Solved! Yay Management!!!!
  3. Now playing goal for the Golden Knights, the guy from Row 18, Section B, Seat 11..... Godspeed, son...
  4. So, part of where I suggested that Vegas would finish was based on their lack of depth overall, including in net. The fact that they are now without Lehner for the whole season due to hip surgery suggests that they might struggle to make the playoffs. They have zero cap flexibility and running low on assets to acquire a new goalie before training camp opens.
  5. They only really have one NHL ready goalie signed, and that's Lehner. On the other hand, they now have increased cap space due to more LTIR. So, I started a new thread about a week ago under Canucks talk where I speculated that Vegas would under perform this season, partially due to lack of depth in goal.
  6. I'm in first with.... DiPietro to Las Vegas for a 1st!!!!!!
  7. Yup, the only person I'd really want back from them would be Theodore, and they aren't about to give him up. I would probably do: To Vegas Miller DiPietro To Vancouver Theodore 2024 2nd *Conditional - becomes 1st if he re-signs with Vegas 2025 2rd But, Vegas already has enough high end talent, they need depth.
  8. Would be awesome to grab him, but they can't afford Miller. They really can't afford Roy either for that matter....
  9. The challenge is, all teams in this division have flaws. They have areas of weakness that "could" hold them back. Look at the lack of depth in Vegas, they really have very little past the top 6, and if Lehner struggles with health etc, they have no cap space to really address areas of weakness. I don't see the Canucks as the best overall lineup on the division, but probably one of the most balanced.
  10. I look at Vegas and on paper, they have a good team and I think they will start strong. I think their problem is a lack of overall depth through their lineup and that they are going to struggle with consistency throughout the year due to exhaustion. When they are on, I think they are going to be a formidable team, but I think they will have trouble maintaining that.
  11. Let's sign him to a PTO and see how he performs against the new guys we signed.
  12. Everyone seems to agree that Anaheim, San Jose and Seattle are going to generally suck. I think Calgary is going to start strong from emotion of all the changes and then fade out. They are going to need to rely on defense a lot more this season, if Markstrom has any injuries, they could be in trouble.
  13. After they pay the year 7 signing bonus, makes him a easier sell, presuming he can still maintain a level of production.
  14. Vegas is still going to have to badly overplay their top 6 due to vast lack of depth. This could very well lead to more injuries in their top 6.
  15. So, structured so that they can dump him in year 7 or 8 a little more easily.
  16. Calgary is diminished, Edmonton made some improvements, but still have a weak defense Los Angeles is an improved team, but Vegas has a LOT of holes and Stone has been having trouble staying healthy. Vegas will have trouble putting up a balanced lineup on a nightly basis. Canucks should be improved under a full year of coach BB and with a healthy Pettersson to start the season. Last year, Pettersson didn't get healthy until around game 55.
  17. Personally, I think other than weakness on RD, we have one of the most balanced lineups, if not the most balanced lineup in the Pacific Division. We have a lot of depth at forward, we are really strong down the left side and we probably have the best goaltending in the Pacific or at least really close with Calgary.
  18. Although there may still be some minor moves and some teams still have some housekeeping to do in terms of wrapping up contracts, I think the teams in the Pacific Division are pretty close to set as to how they will roll into training camp in September. Based on how teams are now, how do you feel they stack up against each other and based on team strength (baring injuries), how do you feel the will finish for the season and why. I'll start things off with projecting how I think they will finish and why. 1. Los Angeles - I like the changes that they have made, they have a young, fast team that pushed Edmonton hard in the playoffs. I think they have the overall depth to carry them to #1 in the division. 2. Edmonton - I don't think this is a cup team, I think they still have significant challenges on defense and Campbell only really fixes one position. I thing they will have a good record based solely on 2 guys up front, but unless they figure out the defense, I don't see them making it past first or second round as they sit. They can only play their first line for so many minutes. 3. Vancouver - I think this team, even with the weaker RD, made some solid improvements through last year and got deeper and stronger on offense over the summer. If Pettersson is healthy and Hughes a year older and wiser, I don't think we have a cup team, but I think the Canucks have the makeup to push Edmonton and Los Angeles hard. Our record since Bruce took over the bench would have reflected this type of position last season if projected across the whole season, and we've improved up front. I think this is doable. 4. Calgary - This is a toss up for me, they have lost roughly 100 points in offense and Markstrom can only carry them so far with being another year older. If Markstrom struggles to stay healthy, they may drop further from here. 5. Las Vegas - I personally think this is a team that is heading in completely the wrong direction. A little like Vegas, but with big question marks in net and bottom 6, they can only win so much on their top 3 forwards. If first line has to play 30 minutes per night to win games, they will struggle to make the playoffs. 6. Seattle - I like the changes and additions they made at the deadline and through free agency. They have made good use of their space to add and fill out their lineup. They aren't a playoff team yet, but they will be harder to handle this year. 7. Anaheim - Really in transition, I think they will start strong again like last season and then really fade as we get into mid December. They have a long way to go to be back to competitive. 8. San Jose - I like the direction their are being taken in by the new management team, but they have at least another 2 years to being a competitive team again. How do you see the teams?
  19. I actually wouldn't mind McLeod, too bad we don't have room to offer sheet him for a couple million. I'd say he's worth a 3rd rounder!
  20. Not disagreeing with you. Our right side needs work. Left side, we're pretty solid. Fixing the right side is not an immediately fixable problem, better overall team defense will help with this. Until someone is willing to part with a solid RD, our defense is how it currently looks. What I'm hoping is, once teams get into camp and start drilling down their roster, someone like NJ or NYR are going to look at their team and see someone younger pushing HARD to make the right side and decide that they can spare a good RD in exchange for an upgrade upfront. That's where patience will hopefully pay off for us.
  21. They gave up their 1st round pick and 3rd round pick in 2022. That's a lot for a kid who was drafted far earlier than he should have been.
  22. There were a lot of times last year where we played TEAM defense like we thought we could score our way out of problems that we created. We might have been tied for 9th overall in least goals allowed, but we were down around 16th or 17th in team offense. That doesn't exactly scream that we are capable of scoring our way out of games. We should be better on offense this year with Pettersson being healthy in camp and having a camp to prepare for that matter, but we just have to play better on our side of the red line as a team. No more badly timed cross ice passes inside our own blueline and making smarter plays on the powerplay when we're pushed at the other teams blueline and we only have one guy manning the line.
