  1. Has anyone tried singing Soft Kitty to Rutherford before media interviews?
  2. Although I don't discount the chance that Pearson gets traded, he plays a specific and strategic role for us. A role that most other teams already have someone in place for. What we have that other teams need are offensive upgrades like Miller and Garland. They are the guys who would return what we need to upgrade defense. The depth that we added in free agency, makes one of them expendable, both if the return is other young players who are nearly ready to break into the league.
  3. Vancouver Canucks would like to announce and introduce the NEW Director of Media Communications. He will be handling ALL further media interviews while JT Miller is still a part of the team.
  4. My guess is, after not even a year in Vancouver, dealing with fans and media here, this is probably pretty much how he approaches requests now...even looks a little like him...
  5. I've said before in other threads, New Jersey is our perfect trade partner. We have the means to upgrade their offense, they have the means to upgrade our defense.
  6. My biggest issue is, he hasn't managed to play more than 2/3rds of a season, 3 of the last 4 years. I like the size etc, but I think there are better targets out there.
  7. So, to recap, you want to give up young assets for a guy who hasn't been able to stay healthy for the last 4 years and is currently on IR with concussion symptoms? The guy who was stretchered off the ice in March? I'd rather not do this trade if it's all the same....
  8. The really revealing comment from JR in his most recent interview was, "....you can only do things if you have a partner to do it" Most people on this board seem to think that Rutherford and Allvin simply go to teams who can't afford to lose a guy on RD (Islanders) and say, GIVE ME YOUR LUNCH MONEY... I think this is how CDC think Rutherford and Allvin treat other GM's...
  9. So, continuing on from my Miller proposal yesterday, NJ is a little shallow on Goaltending prospects. To NJ: Miller Di Pietro To Vancouver Sererson Mukhamadullin 2023 1st 2025 2nd
  10. Your first trade makes no sense from what I can see. Chicago has no use for Myers or Dowling. In terms of Chicago, adding Myers would probably make the trade less likely to happen. Second trade, Boeser at this point in his career is far more valuable than Toews, he's not a cap dump as you've kind of positioned him here. For Chicago, their option to move Toews is dependent on his ability to bounce back after last season. If he can, then they can probably get a 1st for him at the deadline. If he doesn't, then he probably walks for free next summer. The trade I put forth was about taking a chance that he could really recover his game without risking too much.
  11. Right, the all purchases are final, no refunds or exchanges clause....
  12. Okay, I have a lot of experience in corporate law, but I have zero experience in NHL laws around No Trade Clauses, so I found this on CapFriendly. I didn't realize that a player must be 27 to be eligible for a NTC. Here's a breakdown: A limited, or modified no-trade clause (M-NTC) is less restrictive than a full no-trade clause (NTC), and can be added to a player's contract in the years after they are eligible for Group 3 Unrestricted Free Agency (7 Accrued seasons or 27 years of age), and has the following properties: The player's contract includes specific terms in respect to being traded without their consent where the player must: In a specified timeframe or window: Specify a pre-determined number of teams the player would be willing to be traded to, or: Specify a pre-determined number of teams the player would not be willing to be traded to Consent is not required to be placed on waivers Consent is not required for assignment to the minors Player is not exempt from a buyout or contract termination Once the clause has gone into effect, it can travel with the player even if he consents to being traded or is claimed on waivers This requires that the acquiring team sign an addendum to the contract ensuring that the clause does in fact travel with the player (written by the player's agent) If the acquiring team refuses to sign the addendum, and the player waives his clause anyway, at that point the clause may be nullified In prior CBA’s (2005, 2013) if the player was traded before the clause took effect, the acquiring team could opt to void the clause. However, as of July 2020, and under the new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), all No-Move and No-Trade clauses included in the players active contract shall continue to remain active and travel with the player even in the event that the SPC is moved (either by trade, waivers claim, or loan to another league) regardless of whether or not the clause has taken effect. Example: Modified No-Trade Clause: Within 48 hours of request, the player must submit a list of 18 teams they are willing to be traded to without consent. If the list is not received within 48 hours, the player can be traded to any team without consent. So, a player is not required to lead a clause in effect all season, they are required to submit within 48 hours. If they miss that deadline then I believe that would deem the clause null and void.
  13. Calgary ranked him exactly equal with Tkachuk. He was selected to fill a role that we needed, someone who could settle down a game and close it out.
  14. Again, I believe it is only if they are being asked to waive. A list of teams that a player may be willing to accept trade to, may change over the course of a year. I believe the team must ask for a current list if they are shopping him.
  15. I believe the structure of the contract and clause though, is only if the team asks for a list. If they ask and he refuses to provide one, then it would be null and void. I believe the team must ask for a list though for enforcement to kick in, it's a team option.
  16. You know, we're only about 3 players away from being able to ice a full PP1 of Elias Petterssons. Pettersson, over to Pettersson, across to Pettersson, back to Pettersson at the point, shoots, SCORES!!! What a nice tip in front from Pettersson.... Get er done, JR, clone them if you have to....
  17. I think we should get JR and Allvin on the phone and tell them to make these happen. Toews is getting a little on the old side, but he's also a proven leader in the room and would bring a lot of experience to our third line. His offense has faded a little, but he's still a guy that is hard for opposition to score goals when he's on the ice.
  18. Yup, they are playing the blame game. Team wants fans to make sure that they understand the reasoning for not jumping to extend him, Miller's agent releasing a statement a few days ago tells me that Miller really does like it here and would like to stay. There are risks on both sides if they go into the next season without him extended. All it takes is one injury to kill all trade possibilities and set us back a year or two on being really competitive.
  19. I actually really hope this kid gets his game together. There was so much talent there, really unfortunate that he had to write off most of 2 seasons with major surgeries. He wasn't the same player after having that much work done on his knees, not sure if there's a way for them to rehabilitate them.
  20. So, just to confirm, we haven't traded him in the last 15 min?
