  1. Even though Chicago wasn't a very good team last year, minus 37 is an impressive number for Jones, especially after he was minus 18 the year before in Columbus who wasn't horrible at the time. At the moment, his career might be heading in the wrong direction to lock into a 8 year, 9.5 million dollar contract, even with 1 million retained, considering the full NMC that he wouldn't likely be willing to leave behind in any potential trade.
  2. I actually just posted this in the Miller trade thread, but thought it deserved it's own thread as it involves a few moves. Okay, here, rip this to shreds: Trade: To Vancouver: J Toews 50% retained To Chicago Dickinson 2024 2nd 2025 4th (Conditional on Resigning / effectiveness of Toews) Trade: To Vancouver Severson Mukhamadullin 2023 1st round 2025 3rd round To NJ JT Miller Trade: To Vancouver Shattenkirk To Anaheim Myers 2023 4th round pick from Rangers New 2022 / 23 Lineup Forwards Podkolzin / Pettersson / Boeser Pearson / Horvat / Garland Kuzmenko / Toews / Mikheyev Joshua / Lazar / Hoglander Dowling Defense Hughes / Severson OEL / Shattenkirk Rathbone / Schenn Dermott Goal Demko / Martin LTIR Ferland Poolman (if he's healthy, he competes for a spot on the right side, if he can't out perform the guys who are there, we trade or waive him and send to Abbotsford. Mukhamadullin spends a year in Abbotsford maturing and getting ready to replace Schenn when his contract expires next summer. $2,906,667 in remaining cap space. Okay everyone, rip this sucker apart!
  3. hahahahahahahahaha See, I figure this proposal is good for at least 50 pages. What are you doing to push us to 2000?
  4. Might have to lose the 3rd round pick, but is that your only issue what what's being proposed???
  5. 6. WOW, Queue the Miller Trade tal............ Oh, wait....I think someone already did!
  7. So, if Chicago was willing to retain 50% and take back Dickinson and a 2024 2nd round pick and a conditional 2025 4th round pick (based on him performing / resigning), I would be interested in seeing if he would be an upgrade to our 3rd line center position. Yes, I realize that we would need to make other moves to make the cap work, but we have the rest of summer to do that and we need to do that still to address RD
  8. If we decide to move Garland, return will be a LOT more than a mid round pick, Alf. He is capable of single handedly changing the energy of a game and has strong offensive skills and instincts.
  9. Teams need to see if he's still worth 5.25 million or if he's really declined. He needs a bounce back year or he'll likely just go UFA next summer.
  10. I like Will Smith on the USA list, hear he slaps the $&!# out of people...
  11. I think both Kane and Toews get moved, but not till the deadline and then at 50% retained. Toews had a full year off and didn't exactly light it up last season, he will be much harder to move than Kane who is still one of the best players in the league. I don't see either of these guys being fit into the cap of any team trying to win a cup until the deadline. Too complicated and would require too many changes even at 50% retained, to fit them into the lineup.
  12. So interestingly, a couple of close friends were part of the team that helped setup network security for the prosecution office for this trial. They both said long before the trial that they believed that the prosecution was going to lose, that they were approaching it as a slam dunk.
  13. So, not all will agree with me, but this is how I currently see team rankings for the Pacific Division. This wouldn't be my final rankings because teams are still making moves so we don't really know for sure what final rosters look like yet #1 Los Angeles Kings #2 Edmonton Oilers #3 Vancouver Canucks #4 Calgary Flames #5 Las Vegas Golden Knights #6 Seattle Kraken #7 Anaheim Ducks #8 San Jose Sharks Breakdown #1 I think the Kings have done a great job in getting younger and faster and adding skill the past few seasons. They pushed Edmonton hard in the playoffs and I think of the course of an 82 game schedule, they currently are the team to beat in the West #2 Edmonton I think is a team that is built for regular season success, but I can't see them winning a cup or being a serious playoff success until they fix their defense. Strong defense is more important than an overpowering offense to go the distance in the playoffs. #3 Canucks have done a reasonable job in upgrading our depth at forward and improving speed. If we can move Miller or Garland for the right help on RD, we might be able to leapfrog Edmonton and surprise some people by pushing the Kings hard. We're a better team right now than many people think. That's shown statistically from Xmas on last year and based on Pettersson having a good start, not still being hampered by injury, plus Hughes being a year older and another summer to train, I think we push hard and surprise people under Coach BB's guidance #4 On paper, they did okay on this trade, but you can't just drop two 100 point players and only replace one and expect to not struggle offensively at times. They will be interesting to see if they make other moves to improve themselves upfront. Defensively with Markstrom etc, they will likely be the hardest team in the division to score on, especially with Sutter behind the bench. #5. Why do I have the Golden Knights here? The NHL is about balance to really succeed across 82 game schedule. They have great, even elite talent through about 3 guys on the team, but they are pushed WAY too far on the cap and I think they will have a lot of the same problems that Edmonton has. If Eichel and Stone can stay healthy up front, I see them in a wild card spot, but there are a LOT of question marks around their overall team structure right now. You can't win games long-term in the NHL with your first line playing 30 minutes a night to compensate for too many league minimum players filling out the roster. #6. I think Seattle takes a big step this year, they are making smart moves with their cap space and they are likely not done yet. I don't think they are a playoff team yet, but they are moving the right direction and I personally think they may shock some teams and be in the top 3 for the first 20 games and then fade through the rest of the season. #7. Anaheim I think is still really in transition and have at least another 2 years before they are really ready to be competitive again. Interestingly and I'm mentioned this before, a few hundred pages ago, I wonder if there may be an option to acquire Shattenkirk from them for a season to help beef up our RD. Doing this would involve moving someone like Myers, but I really wonder if Anaheim might be a perfect 3rd party for us with a team looking to acquire someone like Miller. They have cap space and could be willing to part with someone like Shattenkirk as a second RD back to Vancouver if we could get someone like Severson from NJ. Would free us up to move Myers, possibly back to Anaheim. #8. San Jose is in full rebuild mode, I think they are at least 2 years from being really relevant again. I think they will struggle to get out of the Pacific basement as the team sits now. Ok, go ahead and rip this to shreds. I wanted to put something into this chat that is still a little Miller related, but based more around what we could look like and achieve within our division if we are able to strike the right balance. And, if we get everyone engaging on this, we might just get to 3000 before an actual trade happens....do you see how much space I took up on our current page? Amazing, right?
  14. Yes, same, but would they? The team we trade with, has to be able to readily replace a loss on RD from their own depth.
  15. Maybe! They have more depth on RD, but anyone that we would really want (that they would be willing to part with), doesn't really move our needle much in terms of actual RD upgrade past they guys we already have in the system. We don't know what Brady Keeper can do when healthy, would he be an upgrade over anyone depth wise on RD that Carolina would be willing to move.
  16. I think NJ or Rangers are our best option as trade partners, but I don't think either will jump until Kadri is off the market as it's keeping everything else in flux, not just for a team we might trade with, but the ripple effect of possible moves and trades anyone signing Kadri might have to make. If you look at the depth of NYI. I don't believe that there are any circumstances where they would move Dobson, he fills a role for them that they can't easily replace. To me, for us to trade with NYI, it would have to be for a trade around Dobson, I think as the only asset that they have that would actually improve our defense. I think this is a dead end unless we decide to take a couple of lesser players and a 1st, which doesn't help us immediately. NJ has LOTS of depth around the right side D, and although this is just speculation on my part, I would think that they are chasing Kadri hard right now. If they sign him, they will still need to make moves, but their need for Miller drops substantially. Even if we look at Colorado and assume that they aren't able to resign Kadri, they don't have the RD assets that they would be willing to move, IMO, in a trade for Miller. My guess is, management would want to move him out East and not within the Western Conference and IF we trade him, my guess is also that Miller would want an Eastern team to sign a long-term extension with. All the math that I'm doing, comes back to Miller (or Garland), to NJ for a package that includes at least 1 NHL ready RD.
  17. We need young RD. There are not a lot of teams that have the depth at RD for us to trade with. NJ NYR Maybe Los Angeles and Philadelphia
  18. #1, Pearson is extremely tradable if we want to trade him. He's a consistent .5 point per game guy who shows up every shift and does exactly what the coach asks him. Defensively responsible and trusted on the ice late in games. His contract is about 750k below league value for similar player. #2. Dickinson has been an impact player everywhere he's gone, except this first season in Vancouver where we had a REALLY rough start across all players, not just Dickinson. I'd rather keep him and give him a chance to bounce back as he was looking better in his last 10 - 15 games. If he gets back to being the guy he was in Dallas, we are good value in his contract. If not, we can easily waive him. #3. Dermott is good depth value on his contract, has good upside. Unless we need to package him to balance cap with another move, I'd keep him, you need those depth guys to be successful in the NHL #4. Poolman was dealing this migraines (possibly due to concussions) for much of last season and as such, is not a tradable player until we find out if he's going to just spend more months on LTIR. We won't really know until he hits the ice in camp and see if he can perform. If Miller wants to be an 8.85 million cap hit, personally, I'd trade him, and once Kadri signs, there will be teams in the east looking to upgrade their offense to keep pace with Florida and a few other teams. If we move Miller for help on Right D, don't be surprised if we move Myers and sign Klingberg if he's still available. Myers gives us better size and strength on the blueline, so we won't move him until we know for sure that we have options in place to replace him. If we put Myers on the market, there will be takers. Other than Right D, we are in a much better position as a team than most fans think / realize. We will have a better start this next season and likely won't wait until 2/3rds through the season before Pettersson kicks into gear and gets clear of injuries.
  19. So, my take on things as they stand... #1, we will not trade Miller (or likely anyone else substantial, Garland etc), until Kadri signs. #2, unless Kadri signs with the Devils, NJ will be our ultimate trading partner to move either Garland or Miller for help at RD and more.
  20. Whooohooooo..... Years from now, people will ask you, Where were YOU when the trade Miller thread got over 1000 pages, and WERE you doing your part to get it there??? Be sure and do your part to get to 2000 pages, if we work together, NOTHING is impossible!!!
  21. We're going to do it.....nearly there, everyone....PUSHHHHHHHHHHH....
  22. I agree. He takes a lot of flack for doing what he believes is right, but overall, he's improved league balance and largely removed the idea of the Rangers just buying every free agent that comes along and running a 200 million payroll.
