[Proposal] Vancouver- Montreal
VegasCanuck replied to 86Viking's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
The only way we move Myers is if we have at least one RD coming back to replace him. He’s far too valuable to us right now unless we can move someone else to bring back a young RD -
[PROPOSAL] 2 trades to improve D
VegasCanuck replied to KevRat's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Doesn't accomplish anything for us on cap space. I was also thinking of possibly acquiring Walsh, but getting back more on picks and for Garland. I don't think they will trade for anyone though until they find out if they can acquire Tkachuk. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
VegasCanuck replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I do think he gets traded this summer, but I think there are other players on other teams that probably need to move first. I think Kadri and the Tkachuk trade are currently obstacles to getting this done. Anyone who is going to pickup either of those guys had a lot of cap issues to work out. -
McDavid to anywhere for anything. If I were him, I'd be requesting trade out of there.
-
Can't answer this with just these selections, I actually don't think any of these guys are moving before start of camp. Add Garland, as much as I like him as a player, I see him as the most likely guy to be moved for cap space right now. The addition of Mikheyev and Kuzmenko, make him expendable within our roster. He's signed for a nice, cap friendly hit for another 4 years. I don't think Miller get's moved until after the start of the season at the earliest. The recent post out of the Miller camp about seeing a path to him staying and being resigned, suggests that he would actually prefer to stay here and may be willing to work on cap hit in exchange for trade protection and longer overall term.

(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works
VegasCanuck replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We have had more than that.... Cody Hodgson, back injury etc. Nathan Smith, multiple injuries including knees Josh Holden, we drafted him at #12 in 96, he had 112 points that season in Junior. The next year, his wrist got severely injured by a skate requiring major surgery and his career never recovered We've had more than our fair share of bad luck in the draft since 1970, when we lost the flip of the coin to Buffalo for first overall pick. In over 50 years, no matter how bad we have been, we've never managed to get another #1 OA. -
(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works

Anyway you look at it, Calgary is going to be a diminished team next season. You don't just take 220 points out of a lineup and not have a falloff. There is no one player that Calgary would trade Tkachuk for who would meet either Gaudreau or Tkachuk's production. -
(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works
VegasCanuck replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
And if Vancouver chose Tkachuk, it's just as possible that putting him on a different path, he might have been the one to have two major surgeries on his knee. Juolevi went where he should go in that draft class. Everything that happened afterwards would have required clairvoyance from management and that's not a realistic bar to hold them to. -

Those numbers are probably pretty close, Alf! Might have to squeeze Bo up a little closer to 7 to get him locked in. -
(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works

100% completely false and wrong. Calgary ranked Tkachuk and OJ dead even. Everyone wants to hold this over Benning's head, but when you draft, you can't account for major injuries being suffered by a player after you draft them and Juolevi had 2 major injuries requiring surgery. Benning wasn't perfect, but he identified a guy who should have been able to address a major need for us moving forward, someone who was extremely defensively sound and was good at settling a game down when it's on the line. Basically your take on blaming Benning for the Juolevi failure is in line with, if we draft a guy next summer who leaves the building after the draft and gets run over by a car, it's Allvin's fault for drafting him in the first place. For your reference, direct quote from Brian Burke on Juolevi: -

Would be interesting to know what the offer from Vancouver is. And, how much we're offering to Horvat. I'm thinking if we can nail Horvat down for 8 years at 7 per, 49 million total. -

The more I think on things, the more I think Garland will be moved before camp to address RD. Jersey is deep on RD, what about something like: To NJ: Garland To Vancouver, Reilly Walsh and 2023 2nd round pick I think with Nemec, Walsh is expendable and I think he's pushing for a spot this year. I think NJ either has to move him or risk losing him on waivers coming out of camp. -

Okay, don't think anyone has posted this yet, if so, apologies for clogging up the thread with unnecessary posts... Wait, let me think of what I just said for a moment.... Okay, moving on... Miller's agent see's path to extension with Canucks: https://www.tsn.ca/jt-miller-vancouver-canucks-contract-extension-1.1827501 -
Hypothetically, (which is what we do here...), that's probably pretty good value for both sides. Issues are, Pulock is just starting a new contract with a full NTC, and I don't believe Poolman has been cleared to return to play from the migraine issues he fought will all last season. Good effort though!

If he decided that he really wants to hurt the team after he leaves, that is definitely an option for him. Calgary is hoping that they can salvage the situation. -

Remember though, Calgary had Juolevi and Tkachuk ranked equally, Burke has stated publicly that they would be extremely happy taking whoever Vancouver didn't take. We have no idea how the Juolevi pick would have played out if he hadn't followed up the draft with multiple, major surgeries. -

I fully expect this to be either extend and trade, or receiving team will already have an agreed upon extension that will be signed as soon as the trade paperwork is filed with the NHL. -

VegasCanuck replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Doesn't matter what they offer him if his intention is to leave. He now has the leverage based on the arbitration filing. The Flames bought time, but they haven't fixed the problem. If they don't trade him and run the risk of having him awarded a 1 year, 10 million contract, they lose some of their leverage on trading him as he will be locked into UFA next summer. IF they can trade him before that hearing, they have the option to trade him somewhere that he will negotiate a full 8 year extension with while he's still a RFA. The way this is playing out right now, he should almost be considered a UFA as he has all the control if he wants it. -
[Report] Calgary files Arbitration with Tkachuk
VegasCanuck replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Ohhhh, I think he's realistically going to get closer to 11X8. He's more effective and complete player than Marner who is getting 10.9 and he's proven more than Tavares who got 11 million per at an older age. If he makes it to UFA, I wouldn't rule out someone throwing 12 million per at him. -
[Report] Calgary files Arbitration with Tkachuk
VegasCanuck replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
They bought themselves a couple of weeks to negotiate and try and find a partner. Essentially, they froze the clock until the arbitration hearing. He'll come out of that with 1 or 2 year contract that will essentially give him full control of his destination next summer or the one after. From a Chess standpoint, their Queen is in check and if they move it they lose the King... lol -

To Calgary: Tyler Myers, 2023 4th round pick (from Rangers) To Vancouver: Tanev This fixes who plays top pairing with Hughes, lowers our cap and gives us a little more wiggle room to make another trade from forwards, to bring in another young RD to play with OEL Hughes / Tanev OEL / ??? Rathbone, Dermott / Schenn, Burroughs, Keeper -
[Signing] Canucks sign Dakota Joshua
VegasCanuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It's too early to worry about us being over cap. Lots of teams do this during summer. #1, there will still be trades targeting improvement on defense #2, there is ALWAYS injuries in camp resulting in IR
