  1. If this is accurate, how much does it suck to be in Calgary now if you've got 2 major guys leaving, 1 of which literally saying, I'm going to take 15 million out of my own pocket so I don't have to play here anymore!
  2. No one can say that for sure, but I believe he's waiting on someone. Dallas has the room, if he was going to stay there, I believe he would have signed there already.
  3. I felt that this probably deserves it's own thread as it's widely speculated that this move was done by Calgary to prevent Tkachuk from signing his Qualifying Offer for 9 million, which would have been a 1 year deal that would have made him a UFA next summer and free to sign wherever he wants. It's believable, based on the fact that he didn't file for Arbitration for himself. If accurate, then Calgary is trying to buy time to either convince him to sign a long-term, or to trade him somewhere that he will. It would mean that Calgary may be forced back into rebuild with one major loss already and another one looming. It also means, it's time to breakout the popcorn and look east across the mountains... 2 high profile guys essentially saying, I'll do whatever I have to, to leave Calgary! https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2022/07/calgary-flames-file-for-salary-arbitration-with-matthew-tkachuk.html
  4. This whole issue could probably use it's own thread as it looks like Calgary may be forced to trade Tkachuk before the start of next season.
  5. So, unofficial word on this is that the Flames did this as they believed that Tkachuk was about to sign his qualifying offer for 9 million, 1 year, which would have allowed him to become a UFA next summer. The Flames did this to buy time and try and either work out a longer term extension, which he seems reluctant to sign, or to trade him somewhere that he will sign long-term with and not lose him for nothing next summer. If the Flames are going into what's essentially, a forced rebuild, maybe we should see if they want to ship Tanev back here??? He was a really good partner for Hughes.
  6. At the moment, we don't know if Poolman will be resuming his career, or staying on LTIR. We can't trade him until we know if we are trading a functioning player or someone who will sit on LTIR for the remainder of their contract. It's obvious that we need to make moves to free up some space. It's only a matter of time until something gets done.
  7. Open to it, unlike many. His contract was overblown, but he's still and effective offensive guy. Would depend on other moves we make though. If we could: 1. Trade Garland or similar for a 2nd pairing RD 2. Trade Myers for 2nd or 3rd round pick or another defensive prospect if needed to balance contracts He's not the best defensively, but he transitions the puck well and still has solid offensive instincts. Hughes / Schenn OEL / ???? Rathbone / Subban And, a top powerplay unit where we have a defense on the ice of Hughes / Subban, should be fun to watch and would free up another higher end forward to play second unit powerplay, balancing it. This is worth considering, but only conditionally. We need another stay at home D on the right side to allow OEL to activate and start achieving numbers again.
  8. Alf, your post is 100% speculation with zero support. It is completely hearsay that we were ever shopping him, or that this package was ever offered. It was speculated by the media, its along the lines of, "Someone living under a bridge overheard someone up on the sidewalk discussing what they thought was fair value" ALL trade approvals stop on Rutherford's desk. He would not have taken the job under any other conditions. He would not have pulled himself out of retirement and moved across the country at the age of 73, without control of all hiring, firing and trades.
  9. I think Myers is a better D in general, but it would smooth out our cap on the back end and give us a little more flexibility on the trade front, to make further improvements to D.
  10. Question, how happy is Shattenkirk in Anaheim? To Vancouver: Shattenkirk 2023 7th round pick To Anaheim: Myers 2023 5th round pick Would give us flexibility to do some other moves on defense. We are down to a little less than 1 million LTIR space as we sit right now, when we factor Hoglander would come off LTIR and if we assume that Poolman will have recovered from concussion symptoms in time for camp. This would, of course, assume that both players would waive their modified NTC's for these destinations.
  11. IF we decided to trade Pearson, on his contract and with his production and consistent play, he has significant trade value.
  12. Agree There will still be trades this off-season, but it might not be involving Miller. They may decide that with other signings we've done, that Garland is expendable to address defense.
  13. Most of the teams that we are targeting to trade with, will likely need to make trades to accommodate a Miller trade.
  14. I figure we're either going to: #1 Resign him and live with it #2 Trade him and live with it Other option worth considering... #3 Get wiped out by a big rock from space like the Dinosaurs did. #4 Similar to above but involves us starting an intergalactic war because of "spying" with the our shiny new space telescope.
  15. So, if Miller gets traded below what this board perceives as market value, or signs for 9 million + for 8 years, are there assigned buildings that CDC members are going to throw themselves off of, or its it first come, first jump still?
  16. I don't believe anyone who wasn't drunk would have ever proposed that trade, and it wouldn't get signed off by the Islanders unless someone had some good pictures of Lou in a compromising position with some sheep...
  17. Ohhhhh, never thought that @Alflivesmight be hungry, hates getting hairballs maybe??????
  18. $&!#, I thought this was the board for dead horse beatings! Did I wander into the wrong discussion board again??????????????????????? I hate it when that happens...
  19. Seriously, how funny would it be if they got a few hundred of these delivered from fans all over Canuckland, to their head office?
  20. I don't believe that Poolman has been cleared from the concussion symptoms he's been dealing with for quite awhile. Until then, we can't trade him.
  21. Okay, tell me this wouldn't be funny if hundreds of Canuck fans arranged to have Seives delivered to Maple Laughs head office with a note saying "We heard you need help with your goaltending and defense, hope this helps..."
  22. Some people are short sighted, this kid will have a great year once he's healthy again.
  23. Everyone should send Seives to the Maple Leaf's head office.... Although, that's just me, I can be passive aggressive when I feel like it....
