  1. With the moves they are making, they are positioned to go all in this next season. Miller may put them over the top. Miller for Boqvist etc, since we seem to be collecting Sweds lately....
  2. Agree completely. Suddenly a number of teams who missed out. As the chips fall, we'll have options during the rest of the week and the weekend. If Pittsburgh wants another shot at the cup with Crosby and Malkin, that is this year, not next, they can't really afford to wait till free agency, their clock counting down to rebuild is ticking loudly.
  3. Calgary seems to like former Canucks, maybe they can fill the gap with LE???
  4. Edmonton should sign him, 6 million for 8 years to play with McJesus lol
  5. As I said yesterday in the Miller trade thread, we may have specific trades preloaded in the event of specific signings.
  6. Whooohooo!!!! Okay, guys, that's it....show's over, move along, nothing more to see this Free Agency....we are done, all in....
  7. Or, he'll just have a nervous breakdown from dealing with their swiss cheese defense!
  8. Absolutely does, fans that don’t think he does just really want flashy player. You need solid middle 6 guys like Pearson to win a cup.
  9. It's extremely possible that we have some trades on the table that we can complete if certain players we're interested in, sign with us. Happens fairly regularly in the first couple of days of free agency. "If we sign this guy, will you trade this pick / prospect for this guy"?
  10. Considering Poolman was struggling with recurring concussion like symptoms during the season, which kept him on IR through the end of the season, I don't believe that we could trade him right now. Not till we see if he's got a doctors all clear to resume playing.
  11. Not sure it does. Miller is a LW as well as center, so they could throw him on the wing of either Crosby or Malkin and get really good results. Signing Malkin and Letang for the type of contracts that they did tells me that they think they can squeeze one more cup out of them before they go into a rebuild again. Question would be, who would get a deal done for us? Marino, Kapanen and a 2nd 2023, 3rd, 2024? Is that enough or do we need another piece?
  12. Who could we trade Pittsburgh for Marcus Pettersson? I think management is on a mission to have a team fully populated by players with the same name....
  13. Just in case fans forget what Pearson brings to the team, I just posted this video in the Miller trade thread to defend his value there, I'm going to go ahead and post it here as well. He gives us exactly what we need, every single night. One of the most consistent guys on the team.
  14. He takes so much abuse from fans on this site and yet, he just keeps quietly producing, every single season. Rarely takes a night off, just does his thing. A lot of fans think you have to be flashy to be effective. He absolutely makes us harder to play against. Doesn't mean that he won't get traded as there's not many guys who I think management consider to be protected right now, but he has significant value if we do move him, he knows his role and plays it every night.
  15. Sometimes he shoots from the blueline, but he also goes hard to the net and drives the play with his size and spends time in front of the net on power play. He's also one of only 2 guys who has won a Stanley Cup on the team, the other being Schenn, although Schenn was in a much more limited role than Pearson who averaged .5 points per game in the season he won the cup with the Kings. That's the same point total he averaged last season, which if you look around the NHL, you'll find a LOT of guys making the same with lower averages and who don't have the coaches trust to play in ALL situations. You might want to watch this because, I think you're thinking of a different player....
  16. I would also offer him 8, as long as its proportional. 10m yr1 Full NMC 10m yr2 Full NMC 8m yr3 Full NMC 7m yr4 NTC, submits 15 team no trade 7m yr5 NTC, submits 15 team no trade 6m yr6 NTC, submits 10 team no trade 6m yr7 NTC, submits 10 team no trade 6m yr8 NTC, submits 5 team no trade 60 million, 7.5 million hit. Takes him to 38, or until he reaches a believable LTIR. Starts 23/24 season when we have a 83.5 million cap. Ends 31/32 season when the cap should be in the 92 - 94 million range. I'm sure there are a lot of you who wouldn't do that, but you can't build forever, sooner or later you have to commit to a core and start building support pieces around them, same as we did to get to the cup final in 2011. I would personally take that deal all day long on Miller.
  17. Pearson is a hell of a lot better player than a lot of fans think, his numbers reflect it as well.
  18. WOW, NASA just released another one showing exactly how much detail they can get with this thing. Look at the detail they managed to pull in from the other side of the Galaxy.... I'm hoping we didn't just start an intergalactic war....
