  1. KLIMOVICH GONNA LEAD BELARUS TO THE GOLDDDD In seriousness - I think having Abby down the road & a new closer team in Seattle which will take up 10% of their road games if old division return, is gonna give the Canucks an opportunity to equalize some of the long travel distances they face which contributes to injury. Abby gives them a deeper roster as players can be called up more briefly and without as much thought or travel. I think those are two major pluses for the Canucks.
  2. I know I know, I'm just saying he has a pretty good track record, and has won a cup. Technically a legend or not, he'd be a great addition to the Canucks IMO
  3. Don't think he has. Clark did want him here tho, per Benning: Jaro has played under a Brad Shaw system before. In his last year under Shaw he put up a record of 29-9-4 w/ a 91.7 SVP and 2.23 GAA (2013-2014). Also a former teammate of Hamonic in NY.
  4. Meh, 159 goals in his last 429 reg. season games, with more playoff goals than Bo Horvat+JT Miller+Brock Boeser+Quinn Hughes+Elias Pettersson+Connor Garland+ Nils Hoglander combined. Only 29.
  5. Definitely a fair critique. I think the value for Vlad is really tough to gauge. He was offered up for free, and then passed on, during the expansion draft for example. Full article: https://theathletic.com/2737558/2021/07/29/the-latest-on-the-blues-and-vladimir-tarasenko-source-says-trade-value-is-decreasing-its-time-to-move-him/ This gives St.Louis two serviceable players, incl. an improvement on defense. If they're gonna move Tarasenko they're gonna need to take on some cap. If there IS a bidding war for him, as Benning I would be open to adding a bit more though.
  6. To Vancouver: Vlad Tarasenko (~10 percent retained), Robert Bortuzzo (8M in cap) To St.Louis: Tanner Pearson, Tyler Myers (9.2M cap) Why? Buy low on the absolute legend cup winning Vlad Tarasenko who has a chip on his shoulder now . THE COVER of EA Sports NHL '17 baby Don't personally have a problem with Myers but he's not that much of an upgrade on Bortuzzo. Rather have Bortuzzo and Schenn battling it out + the cap space Clears some cap for the Canucks to get the Petey and Hughes deals DONE. JP Barry said yesterday (On Dhali and Donnie) he expects another move from Jim Benning to clear cap before they sign Tarasenko is a year younger than Myers Pearson is fine but he'd be pushed down to the 4th line (Miller, Tarasenko, Hoggie) if this trade were to happen Pearson doesn't have a NTC until next season Gives Podkolzin a role model and some comfort in language Dougie Armstrong can save face a little 35 playoff goals in his last 77 playoff games Canucks top-9 would be pretty dominant Bortuzzo kind of got his chance to play again STL under Shaw (he'd played a significant amount in Pittsburgh a couple seasons before) Benning set a cool precedent with OEL having ~10 percent of his salary retained could be done again https://theathletic.com/2715841/2021/07/20/a-chip-on-his-shoulder-vladimir-tarasenkos-doctor-says-disgruntled-blues-star-is-healthy-and-motivated/ Miller - Petey - Boeser Tarasenko - Horvat - Garland Hoggie - Dickie - Podkolzin Motte - Sutter - Highmore MacEwen Hughes - Hamonic OEL - Poolman Juolevi - Bortuzzo Schenn, Bowie Demko Halak
  7. I don't think it's been reported yet. Seems like the best option for him would be to accept though
  8. ^ I think @Dazzle means he accepted his QO edit: But this doesn't necessarily mean he has yet
  9. I'd be fine with a two-year arbitrated deal. That way he won't have a NTC or NMC and if he's not a fit can be swapped out for another player at 3C, worst case scenario. Saying that, I think he'll be a great fit and am stoked the Canucks acquired him so far.
  10. I think it will really depend on training camp. Juolevi, Hunt & Rathbone will be given a fair shake at fighting for the 3rd pairing LD position. If Rathbone is the clear candidate then I could see Juolevi being moved. Green actually puts a lot of stock into training camps (which is great for real internal competition), and Rathbone did show some success, incl. with Tyler Myers who is likely the RHD without a partner right now. Saying that, OJ could've been harshly effected by COVID and may come back and out compete Rathbone for the spot. That would be the best case scenario since Boner is waiver exempt and could dominate the AHL while being a hour drive away for call-ups of brief and long lengths.
  11. As much as I want to make fun of Berg for signing all the Quebecois - I also cheer whenever the Canucks sign solid players from BC. I do think there are benefits to hometown energy (sometimes downsides too, in exceptional cases like Jake Virtanen).
  12. Nah man he's a third line winger to start the year
  13. wow huge props to the person who made this
  14. why did Ken Holland go forth and make Edmonton's D so bad?

    1. Alflives

      Alflives

Yup.  Holland really Soilered the bed this off season.

  15. this interview is solid: https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/peoples-show/july-28-hour-2-jim-benning-and-luke-schenn-join-the-peoples-show/
  16. Abbotsford is such a good spot for the Canucks farm man. Gonna be able to get way more brief call-ups who actually get to do something even if they don't dress in a game, kinda wild that they've had farm teams in Utica and Chicago (pre-Manitoba) lately. This could be a big a blessing.
  17. Benning just killing it with solid depth signings this today
  18. From DELTA BC. Destroyed the WHL under Travis Green. Absolutely solid offensive stats in the AHL. Great depth/AHL signing. Very stoked
  19. Already took a pay cut to have a better chance to fit under the cap and make it. Damn. Hope he looks good enough to make the AHL with a call-up in the near future
