  1. hellllll ya. A perfect depth signing to rebrand the Canucks after last year's soft performance. Stoked he wanted to come back. Got rid of all the toxic players and bringing in people who wanna be here. Gonna be a different team next year from last
  2. Solid term and amount. Stoked they kept Hamonic at this rate
  3. Motte led the Canucks with 100 hits last year - Zadorov had 190 in Chicago Would've been 3rd on the Canucks in blocked shots. Bottom pairing or top-4 would love adding him and Schenn. The D were soft last year, goalies hung to dry so often, esp. early in the season.
  4. MacEwen for Zaddy. Sign Khaira, Sutter, Hamonic, Zaddy, Schenn, Halak. Call it a day Miller - Petey - Boeser Hoggie - Horvat - Garland Pearson - Dickie - Podz Motte - Sutter - Highmore Khaira Hughes - Ham OEL - Zaddy Juolevi/Boner - Myers Schenn Demko Halak Let's goooooo
  5. ^ saying that, the contract better be equal or less than 1.75 per year. If he wants more, time to move on for sure.
  6. Surprised on the amount of hate Sutts is getting here. He's worn the A, he's shown up with energy, he's sacrificed his body incl. on the PK and in the playoff run, he's been a solid right-handed face-off guy, has been overpaid but has played any role asked of him, can play C or RW fine. He's paced for around 15 goals a year despite a number of injuries. We have Motte, Highmore and MacEwen battling for the 4th line W positions. I'm on the 'sign Khaira' train, but in terms of what they'd bring to the team, they're pretty close. Sutter is much faster and might actually compliment Motte and Highmore pretty well. Khaira is bigger and his puck possession skills are probably a bit better. Sutter has a nicer wrist shot and higher offensive ceiling if he's healthy. Both PK well. Maybe Benning can fit both in and ship Mac off . I like MacEwen - but this team needs someone to replace Beagles' PK abilities somewhat, and dunno if Mac is the best fit for that. Plus - maybe he's another whiner, with his mom advocating for more TOI lol. Might just be a case of - good player, not the right timing to make it as a Canuck.
  7. I agree, I think it's pretty much guaranteed to be one - saying that I'm fine with two if he's open to playing in Abbotsford if Dipietro beats him out next training camp. Doesn't hurt to have the competition, and Silovs will be the only Canucks prospect ready most likely for the A next year. 2 years @ >2 is fine to me. Said this before, but I think Halak will be a great Clarke guy for a year. One year removed from back to back .920 SVP season. Played well under a media microscope in MTL which seasons him for this friggin city, playoff performer as far as back-ups go. Played under Brad Shaw in St.Louis, so Shaw must have a positive view of him. Name sounds kinda like Hasek. What's not to like?
  8. (kind of thankful Benning won't be able to offer him anything)
  9. yeeee In honesty wouldn't be surprised if he reunited on MTL's 4th line with Perry. Also some chatter around Edmonton being interested Would love to see him here tho. Give him two high motor wingers in Motte and Highmore and all he has to do is be a stable presence
  10. Depends on the role. Z-Mac doesn't really have any NHL centre exp, hasn't been relied on as a PKer - Khaira has both of those things. MacEwan is a faster skater. From my view, if they're in a 4th line role, they're both 20 point players tops. I'd personally prefer Khaira if the opening is gonna be at centre. I think the Canucks could sign both and have them compete for the spot.
  11. an underrated thing Benning has done this off-season already is cleared out players who were around but bringing baggage or half-heartedness to the team (Virt, Schmidt, Eriksson, Holtby somewhat). I think the Canucks will be in the playoffs next year, filing those roles with players who wanna be here and wanna win.

    2. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

Pretty much every whipping boy from the past couple of seasons is gone or probably gone: Virtanen, Eriksson, Beagle, Roussel, Schmidt, Sutter, Edler.

Wonder who the fanbase will settle on next.

    3. King Heffy
    4. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

Yeah, probably. Figure Pearson might also get some flak with the contract extension and all.

  12. I'm gonna predict a one-way deal, and that's the incentive of going back to the AHL. Probably close to 1-1.250m (under the bury threshold).
  13. Yea I think so. Rumour they're trying to bring in Ty Ronning as well
  14. He's been in the Canucks' system before, playing for their affiliate when it was in Chicago. He's been in the NHL more recently but is definitely a fringe NHLer and will be brought in as an AHL defenseman as a 'star' d man in Abbotsford for their inaugural season.
  15. Hunt is presumably gonna be the number 1 D in Abbotsford - local player to get it going (from Maple Ridge).
  16. that would be a huge win lol - doubt Benning would be able to pull that off.
  17. So you're saying it's pending and will probably happen in the next few mins
