  1. Where are these Whitecloud thoughts coming from? I'd love him too but he hasn't actually rumoured to be moved is he?? Hamonic, Myers, Whitecloud, Schenn down the right hand side would just a complete change of hockey brand from last year - in a GOOD way. Solid, aggressive, good size - with PMD down the left, Hughes, OEL, Rathbone, Juolevi. Big change from Schmidt, Hamonic, Myers, and Chatfield IMO.
  2. Ooooh didn't even consider Halak - could be a great Ian Clark guy . Only one year removed from back to back .920 SVP seasons. Some decent playoff exp. for a backup. Played under Brad Shaw in St.Louis. Played under a media microscope before (MTL) and performed well. Would not be against this at all
  3. i'm pretty pro players using their NMC as they please - but asking for a trade after one year then rejecting another city is somewhat annoying lol. at this point I kind of hope this guy gets traded and we sign someone who wants to be here like OEL and Garland
  4. Taj just posts a slightly more dramatic thing than what people actually say to get the CLICKS
  5. 900k seems pretty good for Yandle. As a third pairing, PP specialist he's still gonna produce, and can move up as needed.
  6. To Boston: Nate Schmidt, Braden Holtby (~10% retained), Olli Juolevi = Approx 10M + Juolevi contract To Vancouver: Jake Debrusk, Dan Vladar, Jack Studnicka, 3rd or 4th pick 2022 = 4.425M Why? Boston only has 4 legit NHL D signed right now - Schmidt fills their needs nicely Boston has zero goalies signed right now - a Rask/Holtby combo gets them thru the year - one reporter apparently suggest Boston already made an offer at Holtby Juolevi has been surpassed by Rathbone and is not waiver exempt anymore Studnicka is a right handed defensive center who IS waiver exempt for one more year, and could center Abbotsford second line, and compete for the Canucks 4C spot all year DeBrusk has been rumoured to be moved for ages. Both he and Schmidt need changes of scenery Canucks were rumoured to be interested in DeBrusk last off-season and you knowww once GMJB likes a player he does for a long time Both Holtby and DeBrusk are overpaid on expiring contracts. Kind of a wash Boston gets the better players, and they have the cap and roster space for it (Canucks get a 3rd back and could use an extra pick) Vancouver gets the cap flexibility they need to sign Hamonic, Schenn and maybe even a Savard type who wants to be here (or maybe Benning will pursue Barrie, for better or for worse) Benning wanted 2 top-9 wingers to have the ability to run three high powered lines. Let's goooo DeBrusk - Miller - Podkolzin This is contingent on Schmidt not wanting to be here as rumours suggest, I think him and OEL would make a good pairing TBH Canucks get a very cheap back-up who is already signed (750k), with DiPietro just a hour away they can compete for the spot as well (hell ya Abby). More cap flexibility Would normally not predict/suggest a 6 player trade... but after the OEL deal...Benning DOESN'T EVEN CARE
  7. from Duhatschek: https://theathletic.com/2730619/2021/07/26/duhatschek-notebook-panthers-got-better-over-draft-weekend-maybe-the-canucks-and-blackhawks-did-too/ let's goooo
  8. I think based on his cup-pedigree now and the higher taxation in BC, Schenn will get a Andrew Alberts type contract circa 2011. Probably two years roughly 2.3 million (1.1 each year and maybe a 100k signing bonus). And I'm totally fine with that. Can still basically be buried in the minors if completely necessary but I foresee he would be solid depth for at least 2 more years.
  9. Would look good starting the year on the 1st line in Abbotsford
  10. Riley Nash would be an intriguing option as he does have some offensive ability, and brings a right hand shot, decent f/o stats. I think Khaira has been a more effective PKer recently, but depends what Benning feels they need from that position.
  11. haha many combos are possible, but Garland is pretty talented! Could go with DeBrusk riding coattails: DeBrusk - Petey - Boeser Hoggie - Horvat - Garland Pearson - Miller - Podkolzin Motte - Dickinson - Highmore Khaira/MacEwan/etc
  12. Technically yes. They have 20M currently with 12 forwards incl. DeBrusk (Krejci or a replacement to be re-signed), 5 defenseman (this would give them a 6th), and no goalies signed (Holtby and Rask re-signing would be the likely combo in this fantasy scenario).
  13. Everyone has to compete for the spot, yea. He's overpaid for sure, but so is Holtby. If we can clear all the cap and sign Hamonic, Savard and Khaira or a similar combo could round out the team nicely . Also Green does have the option of running 3 offensive lines Hoglander - Petterson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Garland DeBrusk - Miller - Podkolzin Motte - Dickinson - Highmore Khaira/MacEwan/etc
  14. Could see DeBrusk, Vladar + a 3rd for Holtby and Schmidt making sense for both teams Would give the Canucks space to sign David Savard and Travis Hamonic
  15. Would be an ideal Holtby replacement, but most of Holtby's contract would have to be off the books to make it worth it, because Brossoit is likely to command around 2M next year
  16. Hawryluk and Michaelis can probably be let go IMO. Hughes 7 + Juolevi 1.3 + EP40 7 + Garland 3.5 + Dickinson 1.75 = 20.55 Holtby likely has to go to fit Hamonic/his replacement, a 4th line C and another depth D right? Maybe moving Schmidt for cap space and paying David Savard slightly less is also a possibility
