  1. ^ Elliott Friedman https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/31-thoughts-nhls-olympic-participation-stands-off-season-begins/
  2. Detroit only has like 10 players signed going into next year?? Could easily take on some cap. Friedman (a more reliable source IMO) is stating Toronto has some interest in him too If Canucks do get involved I wanna see our RHD from Richmond coming back too. Let's goo
  3. Again, I still think he has potential too. But with the emergence of Rathbone it might not be in Vancouver that he finds the space to reach it. This swap allows both players a different scenery with spots they can compete for to reach their potential in the NHL.
  4. https://theathletic.com/2690474/2021/07/07/blues-winger-vladimir-tarasenko-requests-a-trade-per-sources-why-he-wants-out-possible-destinations-and-more/
  5. I wonder if Vancouver is on his list of acceptable destinations, maybe Brad Shaw being a main part of the coaching staff during some of Tarasenko's most successful years could play a role in that.
  6. Gotta think Hoggie and Arvi on a line with 3rd tenacious (maybe bigger tho) forward (Miller?) would help that guy bounce back to 20-30 goal form; it's not like he was that far off last year, pacing for 16 over 82.
  7. I'm not anti-Juolevi by any means, and I agree he's shown progress. But if Edler or another top-4 D is signed, plus Rathbone looking NHL ready, I'm curious as to what would happen. He's no longer waiver exempt. I get the sense Aqua wants a playoff appearance from Benning, so I doubt he'll go the summer without acquiring another, proven NHL-ready D, and it's hard to see where Olli fits in. Brown has similarly been derailed by an injury, but the Canucks have spots up front that are up for grabs. Yea that's fair. As does Juolevi though, and both are fringe to make their respective teams out of training camp. That's part of why I think it's a fair trade.
  8. To Vancouver: Logan Brown To Ottawa: Olli Juolevi These two were chosen 5th and 11th overall in 2016, respectively. Both have struggled to maintain a roster spot. Juolevi has now been surpassed by Rathbone. Sens reporter Garrioch has written that Brown could likely be moved or be sent to Belleville to start the year again, as have Sens bloggers. Ottawa strangely has a plethora of RD but not a ton of LD, giving Juolevi better chances of competing for a spot. While Vancouver has Sutter un-signed and Beagle injured, they have two C spots that could be competed for. Brown was drafted as a tough, big (6'6), centre who is responsible in both ends. If Beagle remains LTIR esp., Sutter and Brown could compete for 3C and 4C. Over at The Athletic, Ian Mendes has a put his two cents into an assumed Brown trade: Fun fact: Logan Brown is the son of former Canuck Jeff Brown.
  9. Haha dare to dream.....Maybe a swap with the kings for Maatta and Athanasiou to round it out....if Green falters, ask/beg Dale Hunter to consider the NHL one more time. Also Juolevi makes the team over Rathbone if we're doing a Knights redux lol
  10. depends for me - if Clarke is gone and Cernak+ or Parayko+ is available, I'd consider it. If Canucks got Parayko and a St Louis 2nd next year when scouting will be clearer, and could maybe include a Roussel or partial Eriksson dump, I'd definitely consider that.
  11. Or you bring him back as a Jalen Chatfield replacement instead of continuing his current role if he's willing to take a cut to stay home.
  12. I agree re: "he doesn't move off it," and I was actually forgetting about the comments he made in 2016:
  13. If Bowman would do this, that would be an unreal deal for Benning. The cap change from Holtby to Subban would also allow him to sign Zaddy without any real issue. On top of the current Bowman-Benning relationship the blog mentions, Zaddy and Horvat also played together in London, incl. on a big playoff run. Subban was also drafted by the Bruins while Benning was still involved with their drafting, and we know how loyal Benning is to players he once scouted positively. Saying that, I feel like it's a bit of an unrealistically low price for Zadorov. Maybe Holtby + Lind or Gad + our high 2nd for Zadorov + Subban, still seems like too good of a trade for the Canucks IMO - but if Blackhawk fans are suggesting it let's goooo
  14. I think Goodrow would be a good pick-up for sure. Like you said, his underlying stats are solid & he's one of those guys who puts in a solid heart & soul game all the time. He has a ton of playoff experience "winning culture" over the past few years too. He's being trusted with 16-18 mins a night in the semi finals - I haven't watched every Tampa game but pretty sure he's being utilized on the wing in these important games (played heavier C minutes in the season). With his limited offensive #s and that factor, I would have the same question as @smithers joe, can he drive a line with either Pods or Hoggie on his wing? If not, how does he fit into the Canucks' plans? I think he would maybe be a shrewd winger pick-up who can play C at times, and bump Motte back to the 4th line, Roussel to 13th forward, and step into C as on as needed basis. I could also see Goodrow, Miller and Hoggie forming a solid high intensity offensive line if Miller is moved into C at times too.
  15. Max (50%) cap would definitely have to be retained on the Canucks' side for Toronto to be interested, and it would have to happen post-expansion if Seattle does not claim or become incentivized to claim Kerfoot. I like the deal if it could be worked out though. Not sure Mikey is ready for back-up duties so Benning might have to go out and sign another G which would cost cap too.
  16. 9OA, 2nd round pick 2023, Juolevi, Lind, Loui for Reinhart, Ristolainen let's goooo
  17. Mostly this sucks for Abbotsford's return. A lot of productive forwards likely gone this year from last. Baer, Jasek, Anas, one or both of Lind & Gad, Stevens, McKenzie. Plasek in, and Focht likely to take on a bigger role but still. Hopefully they get a decent vet in the top-6.
  18. Dude had some explosive improvements offensively this year in the SHL. 34 points in 46 games. He has shown flashes in NA before, 2nd round pick & 29 points in 60 games as a NJ Devil. Big guy. Not a bad depth pick up IMO
  19. great news about the Clark signing i like the Shaw signing, he tickets the experienced, systems guy boxes the Canucks desperately needed on D after last year. Also like that on top of what he brings, Travis Green picked him (rather than management) so there won't be a strange dynamic of having someone breathing over his shoulder Gustafson and Green also coached together in Portland. Dunno much about him. I don't dislike Brown but it was definitely time for a change ^ this is from the Province, but I hope Shaw gets a bigger say in defensive systems
  20. I would happily swap Juolevi and a late pick (or Juolevi + Lind) for him if they're forced into selling below value Re-sign Hawryluk and re-unite the 2015-2016 Brandon Wheat Kings Patrick is still quite young and was rushed a bit. Alain Vigneault is terrible at developing young talent (we all witnessed this). He wouldn't be coming here with the pressure to perform like a #2 overall pick. Juolevi's been surpassed by Rathbone and is pretty expendable from a Canucks' standpoint.
