  1. had an underwhelming season last year, but was part of an extremely good PK and secondary shutdown line with Blueger in Pitts. Hopefully PA has someone scouting his PTO
  2. trying to think of a final crazy trade proposal to go out to. originally joined this board to advocate for trading dan cloutier, hahaah

  5. usually can't keep up with @King Heffy's level of disdain, but Tyson Barrie definitely can't play defensively at the NHL level. Ekholm is a huge improvement, esp. if he feels a bit rejuvenated to be in a playoff race with McD. Edmonton has needed a defenseman for a long-time, can't say this isn't worth it for them.
  6. Schenn for Kerfoot , Topi, Minten or Schenn for Kerfoot, Topi, a 3rd and 5th Let's go
  7. Same Schenn for Kerfoot, Niemela, a 3rd, 5th Schenn for Kerfoot, Villeneuve, a 3rd, 4th with Toronto's cap sitch, should be able to pull something like that.
  8. don't mind Kerfoot on an expiring contract if it comes with goodies (Kerfoot + 2 picks (or 1 pick/1 prospect) for Schenn?). Kerfoot and Mikhe were bomb on the PK together in Toronto, so if he'd consider re-signing on a cheap-ish 2 year to come home, could be like some free early bargaining rights to give the Canucks a new look, speedy af PK to start next year.
  9. Barabanov would be fun in the sense of keeping the Russian lovefest going as he was also former teammates of Podz and Kuzie, but unfortunately another middle-6 LWer in his mold is not a Canucks need lol.
  10. I am even more stoked on the Bear acquisition today The dude clearly needed a fresh start with a new coach but regardless he had a 81% WAR as a depth d and a GVSA by Dom of 2.7 million last year - his worst year. By all reports he was struggling with injury and covid and was out of shape, but that has been dealt with. The fact that he's a smooth skater who can both transition decently and is proven on the PK are exactly what PA/JR were looking for last year - albeit they obviously wanted a more proven solution. But a 5th rounder for Bear with retention? That's extremely low risk. Coming in just as the team is turning it around again and some injured players are getting their feet (incl. Mikheee let's gooooo) might be just what the doctor ordered for an Ethan Bear revitalization Lane Pederson dating Schenn's sister and getting 2 points in his debut is a nice little community-oriented bonus at no cost.
  11. how much stress ptos and 1 year contracts they gonna put this guy thru lol
  12. Any sense of how Tierney did at camp/pre-season? Would've been on my list last year, but has his play fallen that much? Tierney - Aman - Lazar (Joshua) could be nice, with all 3 players with C experience.
  13. Tierney! wow edit: didn't pay as much attn to pre-season as I thought I would, but dude has had a major fall in value - can't even make the team on a league min. contract.
  14. Loved Simmonds as a player in his prime - but he's well past it, can barely keep up now - however, maybe a top-6 player in Arizona.
  15. Was just about to post about Friedman before I saw your post. Definitely think there's a decent chance the Canucks take a flyer - Allvin was part of Hextall's staff when the Pens picked him off waivers. League min deal right now. Very good as a #7-8. Lots of competitive drive; upper echelon of blocked shots per 60; some time spent on Pens 3rd placed PK last year when he played; a hit per game; some 'pest' tendencies to his game (from Bowling Green--some Bieksa vibes to some degree IMO lol). Right-handed. Some under rated offensive abilities/reads that haven't been given a chance at the NHL; good mobility. Not "huge" but as he says below not afraid of going against the biggest player on the ice. I'd consider taking a flyer at the price, can always be waived again if not a fit. https://twitter.com/futureofphilly/status/1256597562334892032?s=20&t=S9g9zVAA-brmZgyS8M10Bw
