  1. Yea, Seattle would just have a few extra days to sign him if they picked him. Landeskog is entitled to say 'no' and sign elsewhere come the 28th.
  2. As much as I want Lind to succeed, he didn't look ready to make the jump in his short NHL stint. Still a small chance Seattle takes Holtby - a Driedger Holtby combo isn't out of the question. Altho with Carey Price potentially exposed..
  3. This would bring Price closer to home. Tarasenko & Price could be some decent building blocks for Francis if he believes they can stomach the cap.
  4. Wonder if Todd Harvey's increased role with the team played a role in this, as he coached him in Guelph.
  5. That's Corey Pronman's top 9. Full article here: https://theathletic.com/2708052/2021/07/16/nhl-mock-draft-2021-from-1-to-224-corey-pronman-projects-all-seven-rounds/ Brandt Clarke so close you can almost taste him...
  6. Doubt he gets as high as 9 unless the Kraken wanna build their forwards around him. Would look so sick on Petey's LW, my hunch is he sticks around Denver tho
  7. There's a few high motor players available: Coleman, Goodrow, Armia, Hyman. Would be great if Benning could land 1 or 2 plus Pods.
  8. A 5.8x5 or maybe a 6x5 would be fine but an longer term at that rate would be a huge mistake IMO.
  9. I could see Hyman getting 6 per year - but 8 years term is way too long. Canucks' could really use this guy in front of the net, and generally for his grit and scoring ability. I could also see Benning liking him. But if he offers him 6mx8y he should be fired.
  10. The D was awful last year, so bringing back all the same personnel seems risky even with some improvement from a system's point of view. But I like Hamonic and RHD won't be that cheap. Hopefully Edler signs a super cheap vet contract if he's brought back. Maybe moving Schmidt for a better right-sided fit will be the difference between this year and last.
  11. Betcha Lamoriello tries to sign Parise - another team that JP also played for too.
  12. Greatest McGuire story: https://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-xpm-1994-05-21-9405210429-story.html
  13. Pretty big age difference, Beagle being 32 at the time, and these guys being 28 and 29. Not to mention Canucks had to overpay for a veteran 4th liner, as they weren't gonna be an attractive destination that year + before anyone would've predicted a COVID flat cap era. I get your point that playoff performers are generally overpaid a bit, but if we're bringing in 2/3rds of a successful line we also know they'll have some chemistry and work well together.
  14. Yea, my thoughts as well generally (and more realistically). Giving up some low level picks to get in early would give Benning the time to propose/present keeping them together in the line-up...probably one of the few ways Vancouver would be a tempting destination for the pair of UFAs. They're defs getting raises - esp. since they're both underpaid right now. I think the #s I've proposed are pretty close to what they'll get with the combined facts that they deserve a raise but it's also a flat cap
  15. Yea, I think Schmidt would have to be moved in a separate deal, just as he was for VGK when they signed AP, as Arizona would mainly want the cap space for other areas.
  16. two conditions and I'd be all over this deal: we know that Brandt Clarke will be picked for sure, and the pick is conditional on a re-sign (i.e., Benning gets to talk to Colton's camp first).
  17. To Tampa Bay: a pick or two (5ths?) To Canucks: early negotiating rights to Coleman & Goodrow if they know they can't sign them Sign Blake Coleman for 4 years @ 4.25 Sign Barclay Goodrow for 4 years @ 3 Let the mishmash bottom sixers all walk: Sutter (unless <950k), Graovac, Boyd, Hawryluk, Vesey, Michaelis. Buy out or cap dump Roussel. Terminate Jake. Beagle and Ferland remain LTIR for now. As much as I cheered for the Canucks' bottom sixers last year to make it (..and will likely have to this year, too), this suddenly gives the Canucks an elite, super high energy 3rd line whether Miller centers (cap wise most likely!) it or they acquire a decent 3C by UFA or trade (Kerfoot, Gourde (!!), Nic Roy, Logan Brown, etc.) These two players are unlikely to be able to be retained by Tampa due to salary cap concerns They've just won back-to-back cups with each other, and I wonder if they would be willing to come to Van if they got to stay together Bonus: if Schmidt is moved, maybe a Brad Shaw-David Savard reunion could be had too. Some analysis from Darren McCarty
  18. Pretty much this. Which could make him more interesting to the Canucks. If they retained 25-50 percent of his salary and take on some dead weight (aka Roussel or Eriksson) I could see the Canucks re-visiting the trade. This was Scott Burnside's analysis on his trade worth: - https://theathletic.com/2690216/2021/07/07/is-this-the-nhls-summer-of-the-blockbuster-here-are-5-stars-who-could-be-traded/
