  1. Wut the A straight point totals exchange??? If Miller is gone, someone is going to get his ozone deployment and PP time - or it'll be spread between a few players who will likely have their point totals increased (Petey, Bo, one of the wingers at times most likely). Mikheyev had 32 points....but he only played 53 games. Ilya and JT actually paced for the same goal total last year. Petey had a rough start last year and his point total is almost certain to increase, and like you said Pods is definitely set for the next step. Hoggie really depends on ice time. Plus, if Miller is moved hopefully some goals are brought back in the exchange - or signed via FA (i.e. Miller for Severson, Boqvist or for Morrow + a pick, then Rodrigues is signed, Miller for Girard and Newhook, etc). Most analysis goes by goals cuz teams don't need assists to get into the playoffs. The cut off is typically 250 right now to be considered a playoff team. Last year Dallas had 238 and snuck in, the second lowest was Boston with 255. The Canucks had 249 last year, losing Miller would hurt but a large # of his 32 goals will be replaced by committee via increases in TOI, plus improved players/signings and whoever he brings back. With Rathbone's potential and Dermott over Burroughs/Hunt/Hamonic, the Canucks are also going to have a 3rd pairing next year that can actually exit the zone (and also cuz Baumer is gone from the start, thank goodness) which will lead to more goals by committee too.
  2. wild that Evan Rodrigues is still unsigned. Would be a great pick-up if Miller is moved in a deal with no C returned.

  3. pure fantasy sh!t but what do we have left . To Vegas: Varlamov To Islanders: Miller 33% retained, Nils Hoglander To Vancouver: Scott Mayfield, Ivan Morozov, 2nd round pick 2024 VGK, 3rd round pick 2023 VGK, Lukas Cormier Re-unite Kuzie - Morozov - Pods as a 3rd line - depth wise Canucks get a young, RH C with decent size Try Mayfield as an upgrade on Schenn with Quinn, extend him if it's working Lots of futures for the Canucks Isles clear cap for their boi Kadri while still boosting their offense Vegas gets a solid, 1A goalie for Morozov, Cormier, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick. Not a bad deal for them, but they are also functioning as a cap relief in this situation Millsy goes close to home
  4. Wow, I'm shocked he took a paycut for a bigger role in the SEL on a 3-year deal (unless all the NHL offers were 2-ways). He'll be 33 when the contract is done, so good chance he won't be returning to the NHL. Would love to have had him on the 4th line/PK for under 1.125.
  5. I'm not just looking at analytics, esp. not for Rathbone whose development in Abbotsford, which I'm stoked on, is essentially stat-free, but bringing stats into the convo certainly helps to add something tangible to a debate lol. I agree that Myers is choatic, overpaid and unpredictable in his zone - if their contracts were exactly the same, I'd prefer Myers to de Haan slightly. Burroughs might be a fringe NHLer, but de Haan is right now too - he hasn't landed a contract yet, if the rumour is correct, because the term he's seeking is too long..... 2 years, which Irf reports Vancouver wasn't comfortable with. I agree de Haan is good defensively both positionally and physically, he brings effort most games, and again I'm fine with offering him a contract, even a 2 year that is mostly able to be buried. But if zone exits are a concern with the Canucks' D, de Haan is a bit of a liability, averaging approx a giveaway per game, and had more giveaways per 60 last year than ANY Canuck. Schenn had his stats buoyed by Hughes, but de Haan played with Jones or Murphy most of last year too, and doesn't have many redeemable stats outside of dzone coverage. Schenn rose to the occasion and happens to have some chemistry with Quinn, but IMO de Haan may or may not have the tools to do so, so he'd essentially be battling Burroughs, Rathbone, and Dermott for bottom pairing minutes, or Schenn to be Quinn's partner if the Canucks don't upgrade there - so comparing them seems fair. As a physical, stay-at-home d, Burroughs has proven he's good in the role and comes at a cheap cap, de Haan has never played such a dimished role and might flourish there, which would be great.
  6. 1 year of Sevy for 1 year of Millsy Sevy from western Canada with Kelowna ties, Miller from eastern states and rumours he wants to return. Similar aged players probably would both be very very very very happy to have 8 year deals from their new teams which they can't get on FA market. Jersey shored up their RHD, need a PWF for Jack Hughes, Canucks have over abundance of forwards, need RHD for Quinn Hughes. Boqvist has ability to play C and is OK physically, escapes hits well, decent speed - pace for 35-40 points make sense for 3c in terms of cap structure for Canucks.
  7. I agree. Lehner is a starting goalie for 5M, they're gonna need to replace him at a very similar salary. I doubt they're using this to circumvent cap - maybe if a team gives them a starting goalie at 50% retained we can start to think in conspiracies. Both of their NHL goalies are now out.
  8. Sevy has a 4.1m cap hit himself. Miller, Hoglander for Severson, Boqvist, 2nd round pick 2023, Kevin Bahl. Ferland to LTIR. Devs send down one player.
  9. Conor Garland, 3rd round pick 2024 for Scott Mayfield, JG Pageau. Who says no?

Garland is 26, Pageau is 29.

Garland is a much more prolific scorer.  Don't get me wrong, I have liked Pageau ever since I first saw him on the Sens and I'd take him on our team in a heartbeat.

Scott Mayfield is a glorified Luke Schenn.  I'd take him as well, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he would be over Schenn and Poolman.

  10. the Rangers internal cap structure is pretty impressive going into next year

      6 RFA's and 4 UFA's will do that.

  11. I agree on the signing - and 1 or 2 years at 1.125, or even slightly above - like 1.3 or 1.4 would be fine with me. But disagree on the assessment. Dermott has been much better than him in the last couple of years, and has shown he can also play right-side, and provide a much better transition game, something the Canucks lack. I know ALL of Schenn's stats are buoyed from playing with Quinny, but he brought a lot more value than de Haan has in recent years. IMO, de Haan is an upgrade on Burroughs defensively and in his ability to play both sides pretty well. He's just as physical as Burroughs and they both skate pretty well for players that are most defensively-oriented and physical. I thought Burroughs played a really dependable, safe game and was good in his role. Let's not forget that de Haan averages a give-away per game essentially, and Burroughs only one every 5 or 6 games. I also thought Burroughs showed flashes of offensive ability/high hockey IQ , but there's no statline to back that up. He wasn't in that role but I remember many nice passes up the ice to Petey and reading plays pretty well. I see de Haan as a slight upgrade on Burroughs as he can play both sides, and brings a certain veteran presence to the blueline. But to say he'd be an upgrade over Dermott, Myers, Schenn & even Rathbone is a big stretch IMO.
  12. Excuse me, Pearson - Horvat - Hoggie played 102 minutes together 5-on-5 and there were 0 goals against on average???? with a decent xGF% too. Unless there's movement at the C position, seems like that line should be reunited, no? Esp without an alternative answer for a 3C shutdown line Mikheyev - Petey - Podkolzin Kuzmenko - Miller - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Hoglander Dickinson - Lazar - Garland Really seems like something has got to give on the wings, there's no way any of: Mikhe, Pods, Kuzie, Boeser, Pearson, Hoglander or Garland are 4th line players lol.
  13. I personally think the Canucks should extend Burroughs for another year to reduce the risk of losing him on waivers if Poolman is recovered. Subban would definitely be an upgrade, and having Burroughs as extra depth, even if he starts the year in Abby, would be ideal. There's no way KB would demand more than 900k and depth players are less likely to be claimed if there's term attached.
  14. I don't know much about Samberg tbh. Personally, I'm very excited for Rathbone to be on the 3rd pairing. I think he's poised to be a contributor on the team next year after he seemed to refine all the right things in Abby last year. If the Canucks land de Haan as a partner for him, I think that would be a shrewd bottom pairing that can play all three zones - I'm still kind of dreaming of an o-zone oriented deployment bottom pairing of Rathbone - Subban but I know it's more fantasy than anything.
  15. I agree, he's worse than Dermott, Burroughs or Schenn on either side, we really don't need to move a decent young winger on an ELC for him.
  16. 3.70 giveaways per 60 mins played last year (56 in 58 games), EV CF of 47.6 despite 56.7% ozone starts, 1 goal despite his 'shot' being one of his attributes, these are all stats that are buoyed by a decent start when Nate Schmidt carried the pairing. Bad at zone exits (part of the league's worst team in 2021, haven't seen a ranking for 2022). Low hockey IQ. Very tall which overhyped him in .jr is my opinion. Would rather ice Kyle Burroughs nevermind keeping Nils Hoglander
  17. The problem with this is that Logan Stanley isn't good
  18. Rumour has it he waved his NTC to come here in 2016, of course things were looking good for Jordan at that point, but I don't know how much of role that would really play, guess you never know. Sign Jordan to a AHL deal if it's a deal breaker lol
  19. they can only go 10% over until end of training camp right? then they can cash in LTIR @mll? if that's true they have 11 forwards, 6 defensemen, 0 goalies and 3M in space to navigate with until LTIR starts in October??
  20. yea, that's why I limited the amount at a buriable amount, and I agree, he's likely holding out for a 2 year - if that puts the Canucks ahead I wouldn't be against it. Not a super exciting signing but not bad depth either.
