  1. Casey with the two-step -- one, two, bustaroo!
  2. Hey Jake -- get on a full cage, then sit his arse down and score on the resulting powerplay.
  3. Not when it comes to people who are well-paid to be knowledgeable about it because it's their job and career and has been their entire lifetime.
  4. Hughes is tied for 10th in league scoring for defencemen, as a rookie. He's already there. But you KNOW that "he won't ever be as good as X, Y, Z..." with such certainty after just 51 games in the NHL? Recently an article was posted on how Hughes is actually producing as a "shut-down" dman already, best on the Canucks. He may not play the PK but he knows how to defend and is very effective at it. He's already a two-way defenceman and only just turned 20. He's not Jordan Subban, the kid knows how to play. Not wise to underestimate him in any way, imo.
  5. I recall the definition of charging as quite specific -- taking more than three strides (or maybe it was three or more) towards a player to hit him.
  6. So an opinion based merely on the statsheets of 16 games this year is more valid than Benning and his staff and scouts who've actually watched and analyzed him and his games over at least the previous year before drafting him?
  7. It's not a zero-sum game, or that a player is either offensive or defensive to the exclusion of the other. Hughes plays D very well, he's not "purely offensive." It's more about getting good matches that work well together. You could have 6 offensively-talented defencemen and still have a solid defense overall.
  8. Mebbe hurt someone's feelz, 'cuz that ain't allowed no more.
  9. Not sure how that's a thing. 2nd most RW, and with games in hand on every team.
  10. Or jelly Oiler/Flame lurkers, terrified that the Canucks are heading back to Pacific dominance and regular spankings of them like during the Sedin years.
  11. I'd be "okay" with moving one of our bottom pairing to get an asset out of Dubas, but Benning has shown to be pretty conservative in making roster moves without direct replacements available. Rafferty had only two NHL games so far, but definitely showed in his second one that he was a fast-adapter to the pro game, and likewise has done the same in Utica. Perhaps they're confident enough to bring him up and between him and Fantenberg that they can cover 14-16 min per game. And there is still big NT on the horizon. Others like Brisebois could also be brought in, as they must figure he is near-ready by now.
  12. Clearly Kassian didn't learn the "whistle-to-whistle" Canuck way of dealing with those things...
  13. Speaking of, where's all the tankster trolls with their negative memes? Yeah, just wait for the next loss, no matter how far away...
  14. Right, that's the way business operates.
  15. Ah, THAT John Stevens. A bit surprised he was never signed by an NHL team.
