  1. So you're saying that next year the Sedins, Eriksson, and Edler have a resurgence, and the kids like Goldobin, Boeser, and Virtanen come in and put up 20+ each and get us back into the playoffs?
  2. This has been Benning's bread and butter -- would think he's there as well?
  3. Rather ironic, considering Alf is always harping about "no more McSofties".
  4. Professor's right -- you cannot teach what he currently has, but the rest of the game is up to him. He seems like a pretty motivated kid who loves the game, and couldn't have a better mentor going for him.
  5. The NMC drops after the 2nd year, NTC after the 4th. https://www.capfriendly.com/players/loui-eriksson
  6. Sounds like Thatcher is thumbs-up for Green making the big squad.
  7. This rather debunks contradicts the previous intel. If this is more accurate, then their ranking is likely: 1/2 - Patrick/Hischier 3 - Mittelstadt 4 - Necas 5 - Makar/Suzuki, maybe Vilardi
  8. Sooo... he's worth less than Larsen?
  9. Edler will be traded, most likely within a year.
  10. Yeah, but considering it's very unlikely we sign any UFAs of significance this year, I'm expecting one of Jake or Goldie to likely make the roster, if not be the first call-up. In addition, JB's said there are two guys in the draft who will play in the NHL next year (almost certainly Patrick and Hischier) so unless he (and the other two) bombs at camp he likely makes the team, too. Have to keep the transition moving forward, and this could well be the swansong for the Sedins and the leader/mentorship they can offer the yutes. Also perhaps the reason there's smoke around them really wanting Juolevi to take a good shot at camp, too.
  11. Jake with one of his signature "reverse hits" to spring Goldie.
  12. The Brothers Strome overhype train rolls on. Do they own a marketing company?
  13. Evidently that 19 is a tough hurdle for some.
  14. For a second there I thought you were talking about Jake last year, but he wasn't cut such slack.
  15. This was probably the biggest caution for me. Kids aren't always the same as their fathers, so we'll see if WN turns out that way. His dad was a good player and put up points wherever he went, but he was never a "big game" player nor a driver or leader of his teams. In at least one of his games with the Canucks, he lead in hits. So far he appears to play no less physically than Bo, as he doesn't come in on the forecheck and pull a Sedin-stickdig or Huggins but staples guys pretty effectively and aggressively against the boards in efforts to free the puck.
  16. Don't think there's ever really been a doubt that he'd become an NHL player -- his raw skills are NHL-calibre. The question's been how far he'd develop, whether into a top-line player or a bottom-6. Worst-case his skating, shot, and physical presence are very usable. It's not like he's a turnover machine or penalty magnet that hurts the team when he's out there.
  17. A top-pairing RHS dman in his prime is worth significantly more than a mid-first draft pick.
  18. But he makes too much money, so best we get rid of him because of cap spa... well, okay we don't need that but just don't like him anyway so turf him out for nothing so Subban can play... I mean, Grenier. Oh, then with Vegas being better they can spank us and we'll lose more and get a better draft pick the next few years. Make sense now?
  19. Quite remarkable that they considered him a prospect destined for the AHL to start the season, then ends up named their best d-man. Not so much a commentary on the rest of the corps, either.
  20. Almost 900 pages of incessantly crucifying Jake was enough, apparently.
  21. Where's @S N Y P E R S 7 with his take, now that we're picking top-5?
  22. ...or maybe the Avs take him 1st or 2nd overall and leave us with a better choice of forwards.
