  1. Hutton's back! Another strong game.
  2. JB really loaded up on the smallish speedy skill type of player the past couple of drafts, plus the TDL. All we need is for a few of them to pan out, then bolster them with some grit and size.
  3. Right, so it's about "a couple of our kids". They are also looking at signing college FAs.
  4. Suppose once he's done we can bring him over on an AHL TO? ...or would he need release from his contract, which I think runs until June?
  5. Relisten, he did not specifically say college but rather kids in general.
  6. Injuries haven't helped either. If Dorsett and Rodin had been healthy Megna and Chaput would have been down helping Utica.
  7. Great to hear, especially with Bachman unavailable. Sounds like the whole team is really coming together, and at the right time.
  8. This is what's meant when we talk about what he brings aside from scoring numbers. Draws penalties, puts defenders on their heels (and heads on a swivel), and is great at causing turnovers and retrieving loose pucks.
  9. Did not Draisaitl have similar reports as Vilardi about his skating and mobility before (and after) his draft?
  10. He was still in position to shoot too, so the goalie had to freeze.
  11. Have to figure he was injured last year, the way he's skating so much better this season and back on his game. Can only hope (wish) that's the reason for the Sedins to have fallen off like they have this year.
  12. "I wish I can choose number" -- perhaps, as likely with Stecher, it will change once he becomes established.
  13. There you have it. He could score 50, no matter to some.
  14. “Loui (Eriksson) was a unique opportunity. His relationship with Daniel and Henrik…through the Olympics in 2010 he knew and liked the city. I don’t think that’s the way to build this team now. We’re more in the market for ‘bridge’ support, shorter term.” - Linden
  15. Pastrnak was drafted at 168lbs. He went straight to the AHL then put up 27 points in 46 games for the Bruins. He now weighs 181. Ehlers was drafted 165lbs. He played one more year of junior then joined the Jets, putting up 38 points in 72 games. He now weighs 172. Dahlen is listed at 181 and is nearly 2 years younger. Not saying he will follow in their footsteps, but not every player has to bulk up to 190+ to play in the NHL. We don't know who can make the game at those lighter weights. Scouting report is that Dahlen is "stocky", with his weight in his lower body which should make him difficult to knock off the puck. Will depend on what mgmt deems best, but odds are we see him start in the AHL next year.
  16. As well, every team from #3 down slides down a spot in the other rounds behind Vegas. Finishing top-2 is thereby additionally preferable this year.
  17. Foil can be pricey. What matters most for marginal guys like him are his desire and compete level, two things that have been pretty much common denominators for every player this management team has brought in: For a non-skill guy, he checks all the boxes they're looking for. Even with skill guys, they don't want perimeter players that take nights off or simply rely on their natural ability. We've seen the increased compete level of the team this year already, and there's more of that to come as the transition continues.
  18. Stylin' cars and clothes -- the Russian Laine! Frankly, with guys like Bieksa and Burrows leaving it's time we got some new characters on the team. Sports is about providing entertainment as well as winning games. Confidence and flair are great, cocky and flake not so much. If he's on the wrong side of that the Sedins and others will cure him of it pretty quick, but the vets in San Jose likely worked on it if they had to.
  19. We're back to the same spot as last year, 28th, but with Vegas sharing those odds our most-likely position will be 5 or 6 again, and could go as low as 7th. Need Arizona to keep going on a run and overtake us, but without Hanzal that'll be tough to sustain.
  20. Scores from anywhere. And yeah -- the PP needs him, badly.
  21. Plus two more first round picks. Three first rounders including two top-fives for "potential".
