  1. Shouldn't Garth Snow should be more "concerned", considering Dal Colle was cut? After all, he was considered one of the "top five" in the draft and Virtanen was projected as second-tier.
  2. You know, if Forsling would grow his hair out, he could probably have a primpable coif just like Nylander. Perhaps that would placate DownUnda a bit -- maybe even replace his ceiling poster should Gustav continue to progress.
  3. Nylander's just riding Forsling's coattails, picking up bunny assists from Gustav's cannon. "Welcome to the party, pal!"
  4. You only wish you were that pretty. H8rs gone h8! lol, indeed
  5. Looking forward to a Jake/Jared 1st or 2nd line next year. Preview of many years to come.
  6. Once he went to that line, he played down much lower -- on the boards, behind the net, and right in front of the net. For such a difference, would certainly expect that came from the coach, as must have the high playing.
  7. He's on the boards! ...and things are happening.
  8. Okay, so Carter has almost 3x the skill set as Virtanen, and every skill Jake has Carter also has? So Jake does not have anything at all that Carter doesn't already possess?
  9. Looks like they're on an extended break? Haven't played since the 13th, and too bad as he was heating up -- 5 points in last 3 games.
  10. This my first time watching and yeah, no doubt this will be a great experience for Jake. Little doubt he will be back next year, and be ready to take on a leadership role with McD, Domi, Lazar, and probably Reinhart and others likely full-time with their NHL teams. Hurt (so they know they got hit) yes, but to injure no. At least that's the impression I get. He plays tough but not dirty, physical but clean, aggressive but not retaliatory or cheap-shotting.
  11. I hope that's the case, because whenever there were puck battles in the offensive zone I kept thinking, "Get in there!" but he rarely did. In most systems, is it not the center that stays high in the zone, of anyone?
  12. First time seeing him and wow, totally impressed. So huge yet moves side-to-side so quickly. Always in position, never caught out or scrambling, just plain solid. Looked like a machine in there. And only 19?(!). Well done once again, Mr. Benning.
  13. Thing is, he isn't really "in the slot" -- if he were he'd be a scoring opportunity to pass to and thus be attracting a defender to him. He's more in no-man's land, sort of halfway out to the point. Too bad he can't make the AHL next year; would be good to have Travis mentor him with the other boys to get his cycling and positioning going. Kind of seems he's almost lost playing with skilled guys, maybe too used to being the fasted and most-skilled guy on the ice so he's had to do it all himself.
  14. Yes, Jake is not the only one out there doing fancy dangles instead of making safe plays. I've wondered too why in the O-zone Jake seems to be high and not either in the slot or battling on the boards, so he's not in scoring position neither in getting the puck. Coachs' direction?
  15. So, the third-youngest player on the team is now playing with who's considered a generational talent, and for his speed and skill. Something sounds pretty good there.
  16. Yeah, he got a couple of pretty good direct pops in there.
  17. ...and nailed a guy (nearly) over the boards a few seconds earlier on the same shift. As does nearly every junior player... especially those barely 18. Yeah, that's what I've been impressed with. Typically most guys who have hitting as a big part of their game are either out looking for the opportunity (running around) or waiting for the opportunity. Jake simply has it as part of his game. If he and another guy are going to the boards for the puck, the other guy often ends up on his butt. He doesn't go out of his way to make hits, and he never seems off-balance nor throws himself off-balance nor takes himself out of the play. Pretty important too when considering the propensity for injury when playing physical. He's not even the biggest guy, but must be quite strong, especially for his age. Plays tough but seems clean and disciplined at it, doesn't hit to injure, and doesn't seem to let emotions lead to retaliation -- at least not in the games I've seen. Just like on that one play where he got checked from behind. He didn't play it up worse than it was, didn't squawk at the ref, just picked himself off the ice and got right back at it with a scoring chance and another clean hit. Sweet stuff.
  18. Admittedly hates Kassian, disses Jake... seemed there may be a pattern (size, skill, truculence).
  19. Yeah, but he's agitated enough already.
  20. Kassian... Virtanen... Pedan... terrorizing the league in a couple years. Whatever will you do?
  21. He was putting guys on their butts all game.
