  1. And Reinhart isn't an uproven prospect? What if Vancouver had the #2 pick, believing Reinhart was going the team at #1 -- do you still "do it"? What is going on here, has Reinhart suddenly become Gretzky? He isn't even consensus top-2. "#1 pick" is meaningless, it's what you're getting, and relative to what you're likely to get at #6. Again, people here seem to think the #1 pick in the draft is like winning the Stanley Cup.
  2. And he's played how many NHL games? So an undrafted player is worth as much as a proven award-winning NHL player who he "more than likely" (by nothing but your opinion) will be better than? Oh, but now Shinaruk hasn't proven anything? So much for "being fair" with such an obvious bias. Sorry, you can't have it both ways.
  3. Rutherford's 65 -- that qualifies him. Sorry, you got a ways to go still
  4. "Was just told Desjardins spurned #Pens b/c offer was for 2 years only, no authority to hire own assts. Now expected to be hired by #Canucks" Well done, old-timer. Stay by your phone -- JimmyB's gonna be calling, ready to relieve you of some nice assets...
  5. By that logic, then us picking Reinhard means he's likely to be a bust, too.
  6. "The Canucks are Refusing. They want to give Jason Garrison instead." Benning perhaps just wrangling to squeeze out something like a third-rounder or minor prospect.
  7. Unless it's a deal Benning can't refuse, he will almost certainly expect a roster player in return. Not to mention the 22nd pick is worth significantly less than the 10th overall. Replace the 2nd with Bennett (preferably) or Sutter.
  8. Kesler's gone by the draft, but looking more and more likely before. Much of the groundwork was laid at the deadline, so they're probably finishing up the short strokes on prospective deals, and it gives Benning more assets to work on moving up in the draft.
  9. Would certainly hope there's more than "a little left over", otherwise it's like trading Kesler for nothing but the #1 pick. Reportedly, MG had deals on the table but ownership nixed them.
  10. Because they believe fairy tales told by local media paid to write columns and act like they know something.
  11. Why is FL considering trading the pick? Because they want more immediate help. Where are they decently stocked? Centers. And yet you want to ship them our best C prospect, who may not even be ready? Seriously, how much sense does this make for either team? Does anyone actually think about this, or are shiny new toys in the window all that matters? Just because some local writer COMPLETELY FABRICATES a proposal and the rest of the media then parrots it does not make it one bit valid. So much chirping about this, now people are believing it's actually legit. Benning and Tallon must be shaking their heads.
  12. The proposal isn't the #3 for Tanev straight up. We're arguably better-off with Tanev + 6th than any one of who go top-5.
  13. 1. High character 2. Ability to play in tough areas 3. Intangibles -- play in big games Pretty much what I'd expect from Linden: reflective of himself. Canucks won't be drafting any flakey danglers or mindless ruffians.
  14. Pretty much what I'd like to see as well -- MDC and grabbing local boys Virtanen and Theodore. However, MDC should be on the wing with Cassels, no?
  15. Listened to the interview with Mason. Taylor pops a random thoughtless question, "Would they unload Horvat?" and now everyone thinks that's the deal? You actually think Benning would do that, trade their TOP prospect just for another even younger one? And have to add more on top to do it? Okay yeah, maybe not... so let's make it Jensen instead! Right, let's start unloading the most promising youth we have just as they're becoming NHL-ready. How about we just keep trading one year's pick for the next year's? Swap Horvat and some other assets for Reinhart, then trade Reinhart plus more assets for another pick next year.
  16. Why is there this constant drumming to trade away developing prospects... for even younger more raw prospects? Is it a gambling addiction or something? Florida and Buffalo are not likely to trade down for more prospects. They need established roster players, not more lotto tickets.
  17. I grew up hating the Habs. Why? Because they'd regularly kick the crap out of the Canucks. MDC likely feels the same way about Vancouver for what they do to the Leafs.
  18. When you've got a potential Dougie/Toews on the board, with a lot of headroom still strength-wise, you gotta grab. Every team needs this sort of player.
  19. Would certainly hope a GM doesn't base his decisions on superstition.
