[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
Gaudette Celly replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
More looking at it as it stands, as Hyman is out to start the season, Marner yet unsigned, and who knows where they're going to slot in all the scrubs on the Oilers, like who gets to be the next Rattie alongside McDavid. -

A bit generous. Some of those are AHL-level. -
[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here

Granted, we don't know the particulars but it was rumoured/speculated that Puljujarvi was included. Rather doubt there was retention on either side, but we'll likely never know. -
[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here

The bottom half of their roster is a wasteland, worse than the Leafs. Was surprised they didn't do like the Canucks and buy out Gagner. They do have just under $3mil and Puljujarvi to move, so perhaps they are waiting to resolve him before doing other moves but in the process have missed out on some UFAs like Dzingel that could have helped them (although at the high end of what they could afford). I say "locked in" because they don't have a lot of relief in sight either, with Nurse up as RFA after this season. For whatever reason, Holland hasn't tapped into that $3mil yet. For him to spend it just to get rid of Lucic doesn't seem very wise, especially considering they've done literally nothing to upgrade their roster over last year. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland

Guys like Kurt Fraser and Rick Rypien weren't that big but could handle themselves against nearly anyone because they knew how to scrap. Thing with Gudbranson is that although he doesn't weight all that much relative to his height is that he is mega-STRONG. He can handle anyone physically even if not in a punch-up, like the way he rag-dolled Tom Wilson when he was forced into dealing with him. -
[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
Gaudette Celly replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Sure, but problem is they'll never do that, and can't do that. That's just the thing though -- in their situation they can't, especially if they're already taking the full brunt of Eriksson in return. They're locked against the wall and can't do anything as it is, and adding $3mil retained only makes it worse, not to mention adding another asset. The only way that makes sense is if Lucic is such a detriment to the team that they have to anything short of legal contract termination try to oust him. -

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on

Have you ever considered that perhaps, just maybe... players actually love and want to play the game and win? And maybe the money isn't the #1 thing for most of them? Yeah fine, they could ALL just hold out then, screw all their teams over, and get those few extra bucks for sitting out while their teammates were busting their butts out on the ice. "Hey guys, I really put the screws to management and finally got all the moolah I wanted, gonna come play now so we can send that league-minimum guy who was working his tail off back to the minors now that I'm set for years. Drinks are on me on my yacht after the game!" Yeah, that goes over real well with the rest of the boys. Sounds a lot more like the typical BC union-management/government antagonism and catfights where each is trying to screw over and milk every drop out of the other they can.

[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here

"Pay off" what? Dollars aren't the issue -- Aqualini's loaded -- it's the cap. We can't have another dead $4.5mil eating away at it especially when the kids will be hitting their prime and starting to earn real money. Don't want him here at 50%, it's all DEAD CAP. Seriously, within a year (okay, months) fans are going to go wild with proposals trying to figure out how to ditch him when he's got another 3 years to go. If we thought moving Eriksson was difficult, moving Lucic will be like moving a mountain with a plastic DQ spoon. The Marleau trade will look brilliant in comparison to what it'll cost. I just don't get the fascination with this whole thing. -
[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
Gaudette Celly replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Three years of garbage and four more to go at $6mil per, I'd say that's a whole lotta risk for a supposed "window" for a 31-year-old and for which I've still seen no substantiation outside of empty conjecture, hopeful speculation, and wishful thinking. "Getting out of Edmonton" is hardly a panacea, no more than "coming home". He is a pure salary dump at this point, with no evidence to the contrary, and Edmonton fans themselves attest to it. And moreover, we are certainly not in the position to take on such a dump, especially since Holland is likely not willing nor able to pay an equitable price to do so. Again, it's their bed, let them lie in it. -

Ready-position for pill-poking as players blow by him or when he comes in late behind them. -

Lucic is the hot coals that has the Oiler tire fire burning so brightly. Their cap right now is a giant millstone with Lucic a ten-tonne anchor bolted right to it. His immense immovable ballast is welded to their hull and has them dead in the water, which is why they're trying to throw other assets like Russell overboard. The ONLY way they're getting out of these metaphors is to drastically overpay some team to rescue them. Their team is going NOWHERE until that happens, which again, is why it's so astounding the folks who are so eager to help them out when we have little to gain in the exchange, and potentially much to lose by taking the albatross onto ourselves. Let them burn and flounder for as long as possible. Please. -
Latest word from a Leaf's blogger is to grab some league-minimum players or PTOs by enticing them with the opportunity to play with Matthews or Tavares. But apparently they are real serious about this upcoming season, major changes happening: But what would Leafs news be without shortage of facts...

If I may be pretentious... Should Lucic and Eriksson both be traded, dollars to donuts Eriksson gets the better return. In fact, I suspect most people will be surprised at the return for him. -

A fan's made-up proposal makes you okay with taking on Lucic? Okay then... Eriksson for Boedker (50% retained) + 2nd Feel any different?
