Almost like it's all planned out, years ahead... -

Must be Benning's plan to spend recklessly then lowball Boeser with the excuse "Well, we just don't have the money now. We can give you a $5x2 bridge." 'Cuz that's how Benning rolls. -

No small coincidence in that time frame. We have this year and next as a relatively stable roster, then changes happen -- Hughes, Petey, and a bunch of contracts all end. It's almost like we have a bit of a "2-year window" or sub-plan right now. Will be very interesting to see where it takes us. -

For one, there's no "hate". Second, his question isn't legit because he either hasn't read the numbers or simply cannot understand them. We do not "have" to move salary to sign Boeser. As has been said, he's excellent with relaying information, but falls short when trying to analyze or render insight let alone speculate. In this case, he's failing on both. -

They could even use the same garbage truck to deliver them up and down the #2. -

Right, so back to business. Buffalo needs forwards and to move RHD: Risto for Sutter (50%) Baertschi Schaller or Sutter (no retention) Virtanen Schaller We then move Tanev elsewhere to free the roster spot and cap. -

Recall Dorsett's "thank-you" tweet when Benning signed Prust. Well now, no one or two guys have to do all the heavy-lifting. Like JB envisioned, team grit and toughness will be a team identity throughout the lineup. We won't be relying on a single guy to be an enforcer or to clean up after incidents. No matter what line's on the ice, there will be pushback and accountability for opposing players. -

We had speculated about adding Lee, but that is suddenly one HEAVY top-6. Petey the only one under 200lbs, how quickly it changed. Plus the two additions on the back end. -

That's what I was wondering, so the ED must be after July 1st? It would make more sense to be intended as a protected spot, but if it comes off before, all the better. -

...and one that can still get around the ice and play. Same term, younger, almost half the cost. -

Recall long after the 2015 playoffs Benning still saying that he was very disturbed by what happened. I think this basically closes the circle, acquiring the nemesis for our own, and can unleash him back against the enemy. Both Alberta teams are capped out, and can't really do much to improve aside from try to make trades. Calgary needs to scramble just to re-sign Tkachuk and 18YO. Perhaps they'll move Russell but then need to replace him, unless they figure that'll be with their younger ones. -

Columbus has $15mil in cap space with 2 more contracts. We could certainly throw some assets at them now, not only to dump a couple salaries but with value to grab Jenner. Doing that, and it would even further the possibility of moving Sutter, which frees up even a bit more cap in the exchange. One aspect of all this is that it could indeed make Virtanen available. I don't want to see him moved, but it's no longer so much that he's a lone commodity in our lineup anymore. -

That idiot, what's he doing collecting so many assets when we're bottoming out in the rebuild that hasn't even started yet? What's he going to do, start trading them for picks... oh wait. Man, this clown is totally blowing our chances at getting Lafreniere. Don't know how much more of this I can take, fire this bum already, Aqualini, wake up and do something! This is too stressful, I gotta get back to the safety and comfort of HF Boards. -

Exactly. From day one, he first had to start moving out things that wouldn't be part of the future like Garrison and Matthias plus the NTCs, and start filling holes in the roster so the team didn't completely crater. Yes in some cases he had to give more term than maybe wanted, but now we're seeing the FULL SHIFT into the next stage -- no longer a floundering rebuilding team, and THIS is how you turn the corner. Of course, under the #shanaplan the way you make that transition is to sign three 37-year-olds and trade 2nd round picks for rentals. -

Amazingly, someone is actually reading and understanding the numbers: It's really not that difficult. Patrick Johnston and the others in the media could certainly take 2 minutes and learn to comprehend this stuff. -

Rick has to learn to leave the trolling and inciting of the fanbase to the experts. They're quiet right now because they're scrambling to find a way to spin this negatively, but oh wait... CanuckSmarmy, right on cue lol -

Ferland neutralizes Tkachuk. So what're the Flames going to do about everyone else, unleash 18YO? Sure, go ahead and start something in your usual Flames style. We're ready. -

Yeah Boeser's going nowhere. He is one quality stand-up kid who's been nothing but a straight-shooter (literally) and upright both on and off the ice. Still two months until training camp, three months until the season. Sure they want to get things done now to have it settled well before camp, but don't think we're done yet. Timing sure indicates something happening to lose cap once Loui's paid. Hopefully a JB presser shortly to get a bit more insight. -

Talk way before free agency was Ferland at $5mil+. Amazing deal, and just 4 years, too. "Too many players" -- what a shame, know what that means? More assets will be coming back in exchange, or we simply move one as a Loui sweetener (looking at you, Goldy, no room in the top-6 any more). -

But but... how can we sign Boeser, Goldobin, and Ferklund with only $5.5milyunsez?!?! Someone needs to relay what the media muppets are saying right now, it must be hilarious. "Boeser must be traded... maybe they traded Bo for capspacez! They're going over by the 10%, gonna end up losing assets for nothing, for surez!" Meanwhile, Capfriendly has finally updated, yes: Won't stop the freak-outs of course, as they still won't look at the roster size. That being said, clearing Fantenberg and Biega will put us at just over $10mil in cap space. Boeser at 6 and Ferk at 4 fit nearly perfectly and we will get LTIR relief for Roussel, but would have to think something else is brewing to get some breathing room. Where's all the ninnies who were ringing their hands but two days ago about "Benning's done nothing"? Pay attention! lol -

For those who followed on July 1st, a poster on Reddit had this to say: He called it, and even put up donation money when it didn't happen by the next day. Dude was legit after all. What this likely means is cap being cleared, alright. We could potentially still fit him without other moves but it would be rather sticky and we'd lose cap flexibility throughout the season. Added bonus -- this almost certainly means NO LUCIC TRADE! All along Benning has said the same thing, "We have a plan". Hopefully everyone is now seeing it, and by the sounds of this thread I think we have finally Slain the Tank and all are back onboard the win train. Can't wait for the season to get here! -

Okay folks, time to get a couple of facts straight. First off, it's: FERKLUND And always will be, for the Bietska legacy. Second, it's: LORD Benning
