  1. Of course, but they will almost certainly need to do so to get a deal done without getting relatively low return. I'm expecting the Canucks to offer up at most a 2nd, as they won't want to go two years without a 1st.
  2. And yet, behold: "Way lower". The bargains will be out there, for those willing to step up and grab them.
  3. Coyotes can't take on that much cap, as they're at $80mil for 17 contracts.
  4. FWIW from Canucks Reddit, echoing pretty much what I proposed earlier. ARI does not have the leverage here, and the Canucks/Bruins know it better than we. We don't "need" OEL, so the price has to be right. Coyotes can simply sit tight of course, but who knows at what level the ownership pressure might be. They are saving big-time cash in this, and that won't come without cost.
  5. No worries, you're allowed to be once in a while
  6. Actually, that's just showing the next 4 years. There are 3 more after that where the cost does go down: They must be looking at those 3 years x $10.5mil of actual salary coming up and hoping they can dump it. Something that probably doesn't phase Mr. Aqua to near the same extent.
  7. Yes, because of several factors: 1. Dat contract 2. Limited suitors 3. Rookie GM May cost us a Jake or such as well, but I don't see Jimbo taking on that big contract knowing full well that Hughes and EP are on deck next year.
  8. Don't be too surprised. 5 more years of that contract post-Eriksson is significant. And in actual salary, OEL will be paid over $31mil the next three years after 20/21, making LE's salary this year and next mere peanuts. The return is not going to be as much as most seem to expect.
  9. ARI is looking for futures, and with OJ's injury history and such I'd be willing to include him or perhaps Rathbone or Rafferty. With Brisebois, Sautner, and others like Woo on the way we have a bit of strength in that area. But yes, would love to include a Sutter, Baertschi, Benn, etc. but they're right up against the cap so a 25% retention on OEL makes it close to even-up with Eriksson.
  10. Jet Black Jim don't mess around -- when he really wants a player he typically gets his man. Let's see how JB does in welcoming a rookie GM to the circus.
  11. To wit: OEL 25% retained Eriksson Juolevi 2021 3rd
  12. I think a lot of those here offering 4-5 quality assets for OEL are going to be rather surprised at the return should he be traded. That contract is a big factor.
  13. So much for purported #proper-rebuild, now trending is the Benning #canuckmodel.
  14. Can't be doing the disastrous full-Coil model that'll ruin their youth, so they'd be well-advised to bring in a nice platoon of veteran mentors like Eriksson, Sutter, and Baertschi to round out their roster.
  15. Their roster is pretty barren alright, so they could certainly be a player in taking on other team's contracts, including those of decent players. #allthepicks
  16. Benning and crew are well-aware of all the permutations and possibilities with Loui and have been trying all the usual routes. Would appear they have been giving him every opportunity to either earn his salary or to otherwise find a way out with the aid of his agent. Well, now time has run out, and either they get serious and deal with it or the rug's going to be pulled out from under them.
  17. There's a reason why one considers maturity when hiring for senior executive positions, and for that reason not most millennials.
  18. 5'11 190 at age 20, and can play physical. Very good open-ice hitter. Cold, stone cold.
  19. First it was COVID, now it's BLM... mass mental delusions running wild, completely unquestioned.
  20. They're lying, all of them. Technically yes, their operating budgets can go into deficit but they will NEVER tell you about the CAFRs -- Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports. These are all the "off-books" accounts that every government maintains, and the amount they generate exceeds the tax dollars they collect. They are not easy to acquire, but when you do you'll see how much money governments really have.
