    When you can deal a guy like Weise for an Olympic defenseman like Diaz, I don't think you worry about the 'rental' aspect too much.

      Exactly...people are too narrow minded when MG says something. Bring up talk to trade for x player and they say 'no, MG said no rentals'...don't read too into what it said and an excellent deal by MG.

      Higgins and Lapierre were initially rentals too (UFAs), but they were re-signed. Gillis will probably try to re-sign (7th d-man) him if he does well here.

    Having youth in the lineup just for the sake of having youth in the lineup is never a good thing, for the team or the player. Hopefully Hunter (and Bo for that matter) benefit from the extra development.

      I am with ya 2 extreme. Honestly if Kassian gets more time than Kessel the fix is in and we can then know what to expect from the league and refs this year. you DO NOT swing your stick twice at a guy, once while he is totally defenseless and then spear him 2 minutes later again defenseless and get off free. especially with another player in the league facing a 5 game minimum from a careless stick swinging incident
