  1. To me I think the opposite. If they get 40 low chance shots on net, those are 40 'chances' to retain or regain possession and break back out. The issue with 'swiss cheese defence' is when it's 3-1 and 2/1 or 2/0 breakaways given up 5-6-7 times a game. Those are extreme high chance shots on net. I don't like our defensive scheme, but my issues with it don't stem from goalies seeing a ton of shots from the outside.
  2. Covid is JB's fault. Polio was JB's fault. Bubonic Plague was JB's Fault. Alexandre Daigle was JB's fault. You need to get with the program here, everything is JB's fault, until the next GM when everything JB did was also the next guy's fault too.
  3. Welcome. "We" are not a good benchmark for fandom. On a scale of 'the sky is falling' to 'leafs fan in February' we are firmly in the middle of those two. And yes, the scale starts out at 'past worst case scenario' as you've seen. Every move criticized regardless of it being hindsight or not and people who have never played any level of hockey except on Playstation deciding they know better than people who played pro. Don't be like "us". You can be so much more. Also don't be like those smarmy spoiled Vegas fans.
  4. I suppose on thing can be said about this game. One team is definitely going to lose this game.
  5. I find it funny now that all the boo birds that were like "TRADE TANEV OMG NO POINTZZZZ" are out in force saying "BENNING SHOULDA SIGNED TANEV WTF"
  6. Stfu craig, it's Perry. He meant to trip him. He always meant to trip him. Because it's Perry.
  7. Petey has been caught offside way too much. I saw two last game where he was dragging ass getting out of the zone, and again this time. Even if you can't rejoin the play, get out of the zone and let your guys get in. I wonder if he's just absolutely exhausted for some reason? It would stand to reason why he can't make the plays.
  8. I bet Laine is actually stoked. Everybody saying "Lol Laine with Torts". He'll be number 1 PP, number 1 winger. And if he skates and hits (something he seems to be good at), he'll get all the ice time he can eat. Remember how the twins did with Torts? Because they worked their asses off training and in games... so it was a buffet of ice time for them. Trouble is they weren't in their 20s anymore so they kinda ran out of energy. Apparently he really respected their attitude though. If Laine shows up, puts his head down and just works, he'll get along great with Torts - remember, guys who are 'skill' guys can do great with him as long as they work.
  9. Remember, only cap space is the most important thing. The team with the most cap space wins, right? You should know that, gawd.
  10. I agree with you on most of what you've said, particularly the overvalue of the picks. Picks are a 'future asset'. That's all they are. Where I don't agree is the comparison to any other team. I genunely don't give a ***k how another franchise (except Columbus, who I am also a fan of) decides to run things. It does not matter one iota if they think missing the playoffs 5-6-7 years in a row is fine. I know that I'm not okay with it. I understand it's going to happen to the best and worst of teams at some point, but demanding "more" until the goal is reached is the only way to get there. I want Vancouver to have a cup. Anything less is ultimately failure, so everything should be going towards that goal. If it means popular players, picks, whatever have to be moved on to get there, so be it. The cup is what matters, at least to me. Other people might be okay with an exciting team that will never go anywhere. If that's the case, the Leafs and Oilers are that way ---> Comparing us to Buffalo or Arizona or indeed anybody else is not 'relevant'.
  11. Dana Murzyn’s only real knock was his foot speed. He was a tough net clearing machine and wasn’t out of position anywhere near as often as these clowns are. 90-95 Murzyn would be a significant improvement.
  12. This goes far deeper than how much somebody gets paid / cap hits etc... It's hockey, not public accountancy. This is a team who doesn't want to play, isn't willing to play, and when they do aren't even playing the right way. Coaches need to go. I was on the defend Green line but now... no.
  13. Bench every single person on that line who wasn't Gaudette. ZERO feet moving on the back check. Okay, fire them all.
  14. If I *must* I suppose I can, but only if it's for somewhere between 4-6 years. And front loaded so the buyout is pointless.
  15. I'm technically still a free agent. I'll play for Sutter money, I'm big, I hit really hard and I can actually pass a puck TO a stick of a teammate, not in their feet. Downsides: I skate like my feet are glued to the ice, my slap shot is more muffin than an *actual* bran muffin and I am notably streaky as hell. But I'm available.
  16. I too would like to predict the future with accuracy. To know when players will go way beyond their expected levels and to know which ones will fall off a cliff and at exactly what age. And which ones get hurt.
  17. I think I see the Canucks D problem. And if I see it, every other NHL level coach sees it. There's far too much weak side gap when the puck is in the zone, it just lets a guy park right in the "far side" spot with total impunity. Nobody under him, they hold too high a line and it creates that gap. Watch for it.
  18. And then falls over. What the hell was he doing there... he's not passing through two guys on the blue line.
  19. You're right on both accounts. Or all 3 accounts. Maybe not fourth, but if "somebody" else were doing what he's been doing the past couple games he'd be a healthy scratch by now.
  20. Well, sometimes the water quality can be a bit iffy out that way. Whichever way it is. I mean it wasn't a late hit if he never had the puck to begin with so technically I suppose it's correct.
  21. That's ****ing right. If Myers got one for a shoulder, that guy takes a long ass run it's interference.
  22. Yep, and you can see the difference in people who have played actual hockey vs played Xbox. That play was pure BS refereeing comparatively to what happens at the other side of the ice based on size and power.
  23. I guess the ref thinks he's at a figure skating competition rather than a hockey game.
