I agree on not picking up his option next season, but I disagree on 2 points.
1. I think picking him up this season was a good choice. While he isn't shutting down receivers entirely, have you noticed the Patriots have yet to get beat deep for a TD? Sure they've given up long receiving TD's which were 10 yards grabs + 50 YAC, but last season they were constantly getting beat on 40 yard throws down field. I think he and Browner will be a great tandem together and will be able to play man to man press coverage, right now there's zero trust in Logan Ryan to be able to handle that
2. They will make the playoffs. Yes they got blown out in week 4 versus a great Chiefs team that had the entire city out to that game, but one blowout loss does not mean abandon ship. They were blown out 31-0 early in the season in 04 before going on to win the Super Bowl. Many teams in recent years have had very slow starts and went on to make it to, or win the Super Bowl. Not setting those expectations for the Patriots, but they will make the playoffs.
There's still 3 months of games left, and I've seen teams get embarassed and then bouncing back, so I'm definitely not hitting the panic button anytime soon. Even if we fall to 2-3 after Sunday night, I won't panic. If we fall to 2-4, then there will be a hand placed on the panic button.
