  1. Every mock draft has the Pats taking a DT in the 1st round. I personally just can't see it. Yes Wilfork and Kelly are up there in age and both are coming off of major injuries, but Vellano and Chris Jones did a pretty good job filling in last year so that's 4 quality DT's already on the roster. I just can't see us wasting a 1st rounder on a DT who will be #3 on the depth chart behind Wilfork and Kelly.
  2. No market out there for Wilfork. Robert Kraft said today they are working on bringing him back (at a way reduced price of course) and categorized Wilfork with the likes of Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi when talking about all time Patriots greats and leaders.
  3. I disagree with the Russian Rocket dude, I don't think LaFell is over rated, I think he's under rated. He's got good size and speed and has been steadily improving each season. He was in the shadows of Steve Smith and was being thrown to by Cam Newton who has a run first mentality and isn't the most accurate passer. I think the best of what he has to offer in the NFL is yet to come and I think Belichick can get that out of him. For 3 mill a year, it's a great deal. He's a big body. Our 2 starting receivers last year were both under 6 feet tall. In the NE vs CAR game last season, LaFell stood out because of his size and ability to run block.
  4. Maybe they'll take a 4th and Amendola heh
  5. Eagles are shopping DeSean Jackson. Patriots & 49ers have already called on him. Rumor is the asking price is a 3rd round pick. Ain't gonna get a receiver with his talent and speed in the draft, I say give em the 3rd and let's give Brady a whole stock of weapons to play with.
  6. DRC signing anywhere but back with Denver is alright with me. Gaining Talib but losing DRC isn't that much of an upgrade in regards to their total secondary unit. Yes Talib is great, but without DRC, teams can just throw to the other side.
  7. Maybe a good ol' east coast vs west coast AFCCG showdown?
  8. CB: Browner SS: Harmon FS: McCourty CB: Revis LB: Mayo LB: Hightower LB: Collins DE: Jones DT: Kelly DT: ? DE: Ninkovich One of the best Patriots defense's (on paper) in a long, long time in terms of pure talent. Edelman, Lafell, Amendola, Dobson, Thompkins and Gronk at TE .. Brady finally has more than just 2 legitimate threats to throw to. Getting excited for the upcoming season. Free Agency all but points to drafting a DT in the 1st round. They could also go for Jace Amaro though and go back to the dual TE threat system. Gronk, Amaro and LaFell would be 3 huge(size wise) targets for Brady in the red zone. Edit: If Britt leaves with a deal from the Pats tomorrow, that would spell the end for Amendola. Which I wouldn't mind. Britt, LaFell and Gronk in the end zone would be a dream come true for Brady, who's only had 1 tall, strong target the last couple seasons.
  9. Was so happy to hear Edelman re-signed. Glad buying his jersey last season wasn't a waste.
  10. Don't even talk about Super Bowl yet when Brady's best wide receiver (not tight end) is Amendola, followed by Aaron Dobson ... I know defense wins championships, but you need some sort of an offense.
  11. I think jury is still out on Dobson and Thompkins. They showed enough last season to give me some hope that they can each reach 650/700 yards 4 TD's each this upcoming season.
  12. We need A receiver for him to throw to. Edeltron is visiting with 49ers tomorrow Breaks my heart
  13. Chad Johnson ‏@ochocinco 16m BC Lions RT @CaptainRodawg: The question everybody wants an answer to is where will @ochocinco sign this offseason lol
  14. It's a 2 year deal worth 32 million. Second year is a team option whether they want to bring him on for 2nd year at 20 million. Listening to Boston radio and talking to some of the Patriots insiders via Twitter like Mike Reiss, it's presumed that the team option for 20 million is just a disguise incase they can't get the extension done before next March 11, and that both sides already have the basic blueprint for a long term deal done. Of course, coming in as a long time Jet and having a rivalry with some guys still on the Pats roster, they want to see how Revis likes it in New England.
  15. Wilfork's production is on the decline, and is coming off a major surgery, and has a 11 million dollar cap hit. Yes, it's exactly like asking the declining Sedins to sign for 5 million. That's what they're worth now. MG is stupid for signing them to the contracts he just did. Paying Wilfork 11 million a year would be like paying the Sedins 7 million a year for 60 points per season each. Not worth it. Now, I absolutely love Wilfork. He was the heart and soul of the defense and his charitable work is second to none. But the NFL is a business, more so than any other sport. And if he wasn't willing to reduce his cap hit of 11 million dollars to something less for the sake of helping add depth to the team, then it was time to go. If any other team does give him 11 mill cap hit, they are going to regret it. Edit: Any GM who doesn't give more money to a guy who is going to contribute in a more significant way in games, not off the ice in charity situations, but solely just to help win games, should be fired. A GM shouldn't give a rats a*s if the Sedins feelings get hurt that they got 5 million and a guy who is going to score 45 goals 90+ points got more money than them, because he is going to contribute in a bigger way.
  16. I initially understood it as 2 years, 16 mill cap hit per year, but team could cut him after this season and not exercise their option on him
  17. There's a team option for a 2nd year for Darrelle Revis. Total deal is 2 years 32 million. Patriots also get 3rd round pick from Denver for Talib. Essentially traded a very talented, but possibly injury prone/hot headed Talib for an even more talented Revis and a 3rd round pick, and having the option of whether you want to keep Revis for the 2nd year. How did this Belichick pull this off? Edit: Reading more into it, the option for 2nd year would pay Revis 20 million. We all know that's not going to happen. Apparently what it does is force the two sides to visit contract negotiations again next year, and there's apparently already a blue print for a long term deal drawn up and agreed upon by both sides but it won't be looked into until next February/March.
  18. What? He's been with the Seahawks last few years.
  19. Where did you see this? couldn't find anything via twitter or google
  20. He's in his prime. Why go waste 5 years in sh*tholes like Jacksonville, or Oakland, or back to the Jets, or Buffalo..etc? He goes into New England on a one year deal, which means he will play his as* off, and if he proves he's worth 12-15 million a year, the Pats will extend him for probably 3-4 years.
  21. Brandon Browner visiting the Patriots tomorrow. Should be signed before he leaves. Browner & Revis on the Corners, McCourty and Harmon at the safety positions .. oh yeah
  22. Going from having Peyton Manning throwing to you, to having, what are supposed to be NFL caliber, throws coming your way from either Geno or Sanchez. Ouch. 5 years with only 15 million guaranteed is 3 mill a year, why couldn't the Pats match that?
  23. Can see why it's a 1 year deal. He will have to cover Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Brandon marshall, Demariyus Thomas, Jordy Nelson, Mike Wallace & Reggie Wayne this upcoming season. If he's worth 4-5 years at 12-14 mill a year, those receivers will be held to under 60 yards.
  24. Heyy I remember you, the guy that doesn't read entire posts.
