I initially read on Twitter that both the league and the Browns credentialed the guy. See now that Rappaport corrected it and that only the Browns were aware - my bad.
Haven't seen anyone say he was wearing Patriots gear. By all accounts, he was wearing a Bruins jersey.
You're talking about high school ball. These are professionals. Even at the NCAA div 3 level (SFU) they change signals all the time (my old teammate is their DB's coach - got him to confirm this). Terminology does stay the same because there's only so much football lingo that is used. But signals do change, at least according to a NCAA secondary coach.
Again - if you're gonna be dumb enough to try and re-do spy gate, you're certainly not gonna get your guy to wear Boston gear and very obviously hold up a video camera in a suite full of people with the little screen flap that shows what's being filmed out in the open to everyone behind him.
..... maybe, he was purposely asked to be super obvious and dumb so that people think it was too obvious to be what it would appear to be.
Conspiracy.
NFL needs to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into this investigation and get to the bottom of it.
