then you've borne witness firsthand on countless occasions that a pass to oneself off the back of the net is a completely viable maneuver for creative enough and smart enough players. the d-man will bite because he's been taught to first force and then take away the safe, easy play, which leaves him vulnerable to "higher risk" and more innovative options.

are you new to canucks hockey or did you just skip the 20 or so years with the sedins?

so 16 teams all make it into the top 10 on both pk and pp? mind-blowing. -
I think a lot of it boils down to belief. these guys aren't idiots -- they can read a depth chart as well as any of us. if they look around the room and think to themselves, "we don't have a prayer ..." things aren't going to turn out well. when the team makes key additions and puts together a strong roster that allows the guys to think, "you know, we've got as good a chance as anyone ..." it hugely impacts the collective confidence and determination of the group.

How Do We Manage Hughes's Ice Time So He Doesn't Burn Out?

agreed. the kid is like 5'9" and looks like he could glide from one end of the ice to the other in about 3 strides. -

I think the blues are solid enough that they still get in, and then they get a gamebreaker back right at the start of the playoffs that injects some life into a run. -

the team was overdue for a reality check/refocus game against a veteran contender. just a valuable lesson along the way. -

sure, but I think it's disingenuous to view that factoid in isolation. it's obvious from watching that he hasn't been having the same level of effectiveness as he did last year -- which is totally fine and understandable, and personally I'm not worried at all. but watching him right now is like watching the canucks in 2011-2012. they still won the president's trophy, but it was obvious that they weren't the same team that went to the finals the year before. it wasn't as convincing if you know what I mean. -
[Report] Canucks assign Adam Gaudette to Comets
tas replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
the canucks did him a solid by letting him stay on the roster for an NHL pay period while he wasn't playing, which should net him about the equivalent of his yearly ahl salary. -
Edmonton can't keep up this pace... Colorado can

I don't disagree that the oilers are going to come back down to earth (with a hearty thunk like always, I imagine), but ... what do you think the rest of the league has been doing so far? it's not exactly a secret where teams need to focus against the oilers. it's the exact same every year. -
I've never noticed before that the 'n' in toronto is the lone lower case letter in that logo. awful.

not arguing about petey's performance, but seeing corsi as the "big picture" is a little bit funny. -

bert is easily as important to the legacy of this organization as burr. bert was arguably more emblematic of the wce years than naslund was.
