  1. no, being the captain and face of the franchise for the better part of a decade as well being the organization's first league mvp gets your number retired.

    An Apology

for all intents and purposes, the trade was player for player, not player for pick. the trade was made immediately prior to the selection, the canucks knew exactly who they would pick, and the trade wouldn't have happened if horvat had already been taken.
  3. if the morons that follow this team actually RAN the team, the plan would always be to win 5 years from now. draft a superstar generational talent? trade him for a package of draft picks. it's absurd the value that people place on what's hiding behind door number 3.

    An Apology

it's just that your assessment of value is completely arbitrary. market value is dictated exclusively by what someone is willing to pay.
  5. I admittedly haven't watched a ton of podkolzin, but from the clips I've seen and the analysis of his game i've read, the player that sprung immediately to mind for me was marian hossa. does that seem realistic in your mind?

    An Apology

if that was true the team would have got more than they did. it's called market value. the team got what they could. I think mike gillis and laurence gilman, with their decades of negotiation experience, have a bit more of a clue than you.
  7. captaincy announcement happens before puck drop, but there will be an extended preamble that starts early.
  8. down low, front and center, just sliiiightly out of the frame. at least going by petey's expression, anyway.
  9. i've really like his game so far. he's willing to join or lead the rush without hesitation, moves the puck well, and has looked solid in front of his net. but it's his offensive aggression that has stood out most to me. should help influence an attacking mindset rather than playing afraid.
  10. I think you missed the point.
  11. when bettman was talking about it at the draft he referred to it as "the 50th anniversary of the founding of the canucks."
  12. you might be right about the way they release tickets as I don't have that info, but I do know that they previously had to cap season ticket members at 17000, which left only 1600-1800 seats available to the general public for individual games. I don't know how those numbers have changed over the last 7 or 8 years, especially since the team stopped doing summer summits/state of the franchise events, but low availability for single game tickets from the primary marketplace seems fairly normal to me.
  13. it's a well known fact that hall was traded because you wouldn't stop posting baseless nonsense on the internet.
  14. the message being sent is that if you can't contribute to a special teams unit, whether it's pp or pk, you're not doing enough to justify a roster spot for yourself.
  15. green said loui had a good camp and he had to give credit where it was due. as for gaudette -- says who? work habits are what earn roster spots, not putting up preseason points against has-beens and nobodies.
  16. another reason to put him on waivers is if he was outworked in training camp and lost his job. remember, the preseason games we watch aren't what the players are being evaluated on.
  17. jobs are earned in practice and the gym, not in preseason games.
  18. vancouver->maple ridge->mission->calgary
  19. killed penalties and played a bottom six role.
