  1. without addressing the rest of your post, I would target ottawa as a trade partner for myers. dorion is on the record as wanting veterans with leadership, specifically mentioning top 4 d, and has stated his willingness to spend money. I'm not sure if you could work a deal for an artem zub or connor brown, but ottawa is the direction I'd be looking. edit: for context, I like myers but something has to give and that money could be spent more efficiently.
  2. I don't think I've listened to a single kris letang interview in the last 10 years. but assuming that he's just forgotten about and moved on from the death of his best friend is pretty obtuse.
  3. I think you're delusional. I think it would be a feeling of respect towards an organization that has done a ton to continually honour the memory of his best friend, and an opportunity to pay it forward and do right by everyone involved. again, obviously not as a deciding factor. if the contract offer is competitive and the opportunity and city are appealing, I think the bourdon connection would provide a nice bonus for him.
  4. it's obviously not going to be the deciding factor, but all else being equal do you really not think that would cross his mind?
  5. and maybe as a little homage for luc bourdon.
  6. I like bruce but I wouldn't extend him either. aside from the reasons mentioned, I also feel like once the upbeat, nice guy attitude wears thin and stops motivating, I don't think he has the technical coaching chops to steer the team. his systems and in-game adjustments and whatnot are far from elite nhl coaching level. there's a reason why his teams in the past haven't succeeded when it counts. I felt, even before he was hired, that he was the right midseason replacement for this group because of how negative things had gotten and because he is a super positive guy that would refresh the room. he's definitely not the coach I would choose to start trying to build a contender around.
  7. I would be shocked if at least one of myers or oel aren't moved, and equally shocked if allvin didn't go hard after kris letang on a reasonably priced retirement contract to teach the new crop of d how he wants them to play.
  8. since the player himself has said he was totally ok with the question (via his agent), maybe it's time for the peanut gallery to
  9. sweet, hopefully allvin can draft some bodies to bolster the group.
  10. he's constantly gaining confidence, and it wasn't lacking to begin with.
  11. top priority for this team is keeping the core together. 53, 40, 43, 35, 9, and 6. not finding a way by subtracting around the periphery will be as damaging as letting tanev (and marky and toffoli and stech) go. I hear dorion is desperate for veterans, is interested in spending, and has his eye on a top 4 d. I like myers, but that $6 mil could be allocated more efficiently.
  12. I'd have to ask brock to know how he feels about it. you can be very emotional and also still be totally ok with the question. it would have been pretty easy to say nothing after quinn (awesomely, btw -- you can tell how much these guys care about each other by how quinn and pete both completely ignored the next question and had all of their concern focused on brock) said "next question".
  13. according to iain macintyre on twitter, brock genuinely wanted to answer the question. as imac says, brock and his family have always been open with sharing about duke's troubles.
  14. sure, as soon he grows 5 inches and 60 lbs.
  15. more like the "xxxth of xxxxxth" offseason thread.
  16. if that's accurate, it bodes terribly for his nhl future. he's no dustin byfuglien.
  17. woo is a defenceman ... (and nowhere near making the nhl)
  18. their coverage has been abysmal since they went cheap and abandoned legit regional coverage.
  19. 2 of their players have given them a shot. I'm happier with the team the canucks have than the oilers regardless of what the standings say.
