  1. as I've mentioned previously: 1. if you let teams know you're willing to take the best available offer and not walk away from the table if you don't get your price, you're never going to get their best offer ever again. 2. to send the message to the players in the room that you value them and their contributions, not like they're disposable. 3. to not subtract a popular guy from the room for so little gain. yes, he'll be gone in a few months anyway almost certainly, but the optics are different for the remaining players.
  2. you can rest assured they won't exactly be offering richardson a long term extension in the summer.
  3. I'm not talking about playoffs. I literally think 20 meaningless regular season games of motte is more valuable than a 4th round pick.
  4. doesn't change the reality that they're human. it's been part of the business when my best work friends have left in the past, but it still sucks a lot.
  5. you see it as "something" is better than "nothing", I see it as "nothing" is worse than "20 games of motte". a 4th rounder IS nothing as far as I'm concerned, since there's a 90%+ chance it'll never help the team in any way. not to mention the deflating effect of losing a popular teammate.
  6. I'd rather not send the message to other gm's that we're willing to accept scraps, and I'd rather not send the message to the dressing room that this is how little we value important parts of the team.
  7. I'll bet you my next paycheque that keeping motte and letting him play out the last 20 games of the season and then walk would still be more of a contribution than that 4th rounder will ever make to the team.
  8. I didn't even know which poster(s) got sucked in to the fake tweet until you pointed it out.
  9. I'd rather have him for $2.5 m than give him away for nothing like this.
  10. i seriously cannot believe how easily people are duped. no wonder half the population thinks a vaccine is secretly beaming their thoughts to george soros or whatever.
  11. this is the most arbitrary nonsense I've ever read. says who? what defines a "motte"? $1.8 in 2016 or 2022 or 2028 or regardless of context? what's the significance of $1.8?
  12. how many times does management need to say, in plain english, "I don't think this team needs a rebuild" for people to actually listen? apparently mentioning it in every single interview they do isn't getting the point across.
  13. it's a terrible system when you don't have the infrastructure in place to turn those prospects into winners. it's how you create a losing culture. precisely why turning all of their assets into prospects is a terrible idea for the canucks.
