  1. except for goalscoring virtually every season, and points per game to this point in their respective careers. zibanejad took $8.5 mil as a top line center with a 40 goal season under his belt. miller has never even hit 30.
  2. why was this version the real version and not the team from tuesday night?
  3. looks like he got autocorrected from out "shot" to out "hit". that said, in regards to your correction, it's hard to outhit an opponent when you dominate possession for 2/3 of the game.
  4. they don't grow on trees. and someone should let florida know they don't have a chance with bobrovsky's contract.
  5. dressing rooms without voices that people are willing to follow don't win.
  6. a) boston is reportedly looking for left d b) top 4 d are hard to come by, and oel has had a solid (if unspectacular) year c) boston were curious enough to at least kick the tires previously d) additional salary retention isn't off the table
  7. I might agree with you if the canucks had anybody in the pipe that looked even remotely poised to step up and be the alpha dog, but they don't. and I don't see that coming back in the trade, either. and don't forget, $9 million 5 years from now, after years of even incremental cap increases and under a new cba, won't be the same as $9 mil today.
  8. shoring up those secondary and tertiary considerations are what teams who are finalizing a championship-seeking roster are focused on, not teams who are still solidifying their core. the gains in the bottom two thirds of the roster won't come close to making up the loss of primary offense and, even more importantly, leadership and culture.
  9. I don't think it would be smart to roll those dice based on what we've seen from this group.
  10. hypothetically, if you could work out a deal with philly based around either boeser or garland for provorov (who has allegedly had a tough year and fallen somewhat out of favour), and a deal with boston based around oel for jake debrusk: a) what do you think would need to be added to each side of the equation to balance things out? and b) would you do it? once again, that's: to phi: conor garland OR brock boeser + ________ to van: ivan provorov + ________ to bos: oliver ekman-larsson + ________ to van: jake debrusk + ________
  11. it won't be returning a player who will be the team's best player, leading scorer and primary leader within 2 years. this group has demonstrated a lack of leadership. if jt leaves, they will flounder hopelessly like the other failed rebuilds around the league.
  12. it won't be opening in 2 years if you don't retain miller.
  13. choosing the future is how the oilers and sabres got into their current situations.
  14. I don't see inflation being significant enough to hurt attendance numbers in a noteworthy way (depending on your economic status, going to a game is either affordable or it isn't -- tickets going up $20 is unlikely to change that), but I do see the inflation as providing the necessary bump, in addition to the new broadcast deal, to bring revenues back to where they need to be in a hurry.
  15. down the middle and top d are where you want to allocate your dollars.
  16. and I don't see an issue giving miller $8-9 mil x 6-8 years because by the middle of that contract the salary cap will have gone up to $90 mil.
  17. the current management sees the contention window in 2 years.
  18. in this specific instance, I don't think there's a team that's going to offer brock $7 5 mil +, especially a competitive team, and I don't see brock being interested in signing with a bottom feeder. what's happened in the past with other players is irrelevant.
