  1. well stop expecting. you're not entitled to some baseline level of perceived improvement in another human being.
  2. he's improved in every other area of the game while also being keyed in on by top shutdown players as one of the team's offensive leaders. there's a lot more to the game than goals and assists on his hockeydb profile. but the point is, maybe you should be more appreciative of his superlative, calder trophy runner-up rookie season instead of expecting it be the starting point of a non-stop linear build.
  3. maybe the problem is your absurd expectations.
  4. I don't know, he's never struck me as that vocal a guy.
  5. this deal will look bad as soon as seattle gets a single decent nhl forward on their team to compare it to. there are a whole lotta 3rd liners out there who will put up mccann numbers if given first line and first unit pp duties.
  6. do you or do you not think "coma-toast" is an actual word that people use?
  7. he'll retire and get some sort of stupid hosting gig on sportsnet.
  8. the ghosts of college free agencies past. canucks were in on both these guys during their respective college ufa bidding wars and ended up settling for kellan lain.
  9. where have they stated that they're building to contend 5+ years from now?
  10. the league prior was borderline criminal. the league is so stable now compared to how it used to be. but unfortunately the guy will never get the respect he deserves because he bobs his head while he speaks on camera and is naturally on the defensive because, a) it's his job and nature as a lawyer, and b) he gets booed and harassed by meatheads everywhere he goes.
  11. bettman is the best thing that's ever happened to the nhl. he's turned it into an actual big league sport with a sustainable business model instead of the bush league nonsense he stepped into.
  12. like I said originally, management, for the sake of their continued gainful employment, doesn't have the luxury of that mindset.
  13. there's no guarantee, but it's their job to make it happen. taking over this team as it is and not getting it back into the playoffs within a year or two is an abject failure.
  14. a guy like travis boyd getting a multi-year deal at more than double league minimum well ahead of free agency is basically an offer he can't refuse.
  15. management doesn't have the luxury of planning to compete 5+ years from now, nor should they have that mindset in the first place considering the pieces they have in place.
  16. nobody said it didn't apply to government, but the other definitions apply, too.
  17. Definition of regime 1a: REGIMEN sense 1 b: a regular pattern of occurrence or action (as of seasonal rainfall) c: the characteristic behavior or orderly procedure of a natural phenomenon or process 2a: mode of rule or management b: a form of governmenta socialist regime c: a government in power d: a period of rule
  18. seemed like a good guy who was a little (lot) soft between the ears.
  19. not at all. they should apologize for flaying management and screaming about how they have no idea what they're doing.
  20. there should be a lot of people around here offering up mea culpas through mouthfuls of crow, but it's weirdly quiet on that front. just like always.
