[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
timberz21 replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Ok I get it, Miller can do no wrong and better than Crosby. While Horvat is a piece of garbage that we should trade for another Highmore or Lammikko. I mean, I’m all up for debating objectively but clearly that’s not happening here. -

Tell that to Bob Gainey. Did we win anything more with these guys? We’ve have our up and down with and without these guys -

Miller might be the better player right now. But what about Miller from 2-3 years ago without knowing he would become a 99pts player, who’s the best? If Tampa or NYR would have known that he wouldn’t have been trade once, let alone twice. what’s to say Bo can’t be that player in a couple of years and we let him go? Being younger his contract will also age better than Miller and probably will be lower. -

This, Also leadership is not the same for everyone. There is a million different kind of leadership (vocal, silent, action, passive, etc) and you can’t ask everyone to be the same leader. Everyone display different leadership qualities, like Bo and Miller, if anything their different kind of leadership is complementary and not one good one bad. -
[Signing] Ducks sign John Klingberg

Nice move by Anaheim, if he has a good season they can flip him at TDL for good assets -
Sharks to retire Patrick Marleau's No. 12
timberz21 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I thought they already did -
Or we just let Brucey decide... Seriously, Hughes is our offensive engine on the back end, would be dumb to remove him from there. If the PP is in a slump, I don't mind shuffling things up and giving OEL more PP1 minutes for a couple of game, but otherwise should be Hughes' spot.

[Rumour] John Klingberg waiting on Canucks to make a move

You know that Garland had better PPG than Mikhalev last year right? I know Mikhalev brings more than points to the table still, I don’t think Garland is a bad contract -
[Signing] Oilers re-sign Jesse Puljujarvi
timberz21 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
3M$ for a 0.4PPG player, no wonder the Oilers have no depth and cap problem. Geez, the guy is a bust, trade him for a 4th rounder and move on Holland. Does he really think he'll get any value in return for him or that he will finally figure things out at the NHL level? This ship has sailed. -

Insiders will report a Canucks trade, CDC will crash and will turn out that we traded an AHL guys for future considerations. -
[Proposal] Van - Tor - Ari
timberz21 replied to Odjick the Warrior's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I don't think moving 5 roster players + Ferland in one trade is realistic. I'm not sure how many players Arizona have under contract but they are capped at 50 like everybody, not sure they can take that much player without having to bury some of they players in the minors. They are rebuilding, they need to find icetime for their young players, can't field a roster full of other teams cap dump. -
You can't be serious. Draisailt is 10 times the player Tkachuk is and look at the package he returned. Huberdeau who's in the same situation as Miller, 29, pending UFA who just scored 115 pts and has a better track record than Miller over his career and he needed to be package with Weegar and conditional 1st. Weegar >>> Myers Not to mention you are unloading Myers on them and prying away a young D (whether he's been underwhelming or not to this point) This is not even close.

Not saying we should let Miller go for free. But re-signing him for the sake of not losing him for nothing or little return has the negative effect of tying up cap space long term. If we let him go it would open up the opportunity of picking up good asset from cap strap teams for good value. (Bjorkstrand, Pacioretty, etc.) Silver lining if we indeed lose Miller for nothing.

(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works
timberz21 replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Or teams that missed out on Tkachuk will circle back at Miller after their rival possibly could land Tkachuk. Price for Tkachuk will also be much higher and might price out some teams that will now look at Miller. Who knows, can be good or bad. -
(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works

IMO not as off-course as EP at 5. He was 7th per Bob McKenzie, which IMO is the best ranking because it's actually based on NHL teams scouts survey and not off independent ranking. While Juolevi was 6th and 1st defenseman on Bob's list. -

Why do we bother having a scouting department then, we should just pick BPA off TSN and Sportsnet from now on… -
(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works
timberz21 replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Always easy to say now, but Petey wasn't the BPA either and look how that turned out. Moritz Seider wasn't BPA but turned out great for Detroit. Could've easily gone the other way. Puljujarvi was the BPA before Tkachuk that year and didn't turn out great for him. Juolevi was a consensus top 10 that year and him and Sergachev were pretty much consensus #1 D available, depending who you asked. Was it a great pick, absolutely not in retrospect, but was it a bad decision at the time, no IMO. Lose some win some. Nobody is perfect at the draft. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
timberz21 replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Colorado coughed up Justin Barrron and a 2nd rounder for 2 month of Arthuri Lehkonen. Ok, it worked out for them and ended up re-signing him. But they could’ve also been surprised in the 1st round and empty handed. we are talking a full year of Miller here or even a TDL deal should fetch more than Lekhonen. -
We don’t have all the info. Maybe Winnipeg pissed him off so bad with a low ball offer or maybe there is more to it than Maurice leaving in the middle of the year for no apparent reason…Not to mention Chevy getting off easy with the Chicago mess. Brisson is one of the most influential agent out there. Doubt he would have leaked that on purpose if there wasn’t an honest reason. Otherwise he would have purposely sabotage him own client since if he only wants to go to Montreal, they can lowball (relatively speaking) is ass off and still get him. so imo there is more to the story.
-
So players should just lie like Gaudreau did pretending to negotiate with Calgary knowing fully he didn’t want to re-sign? at least the kid his honest. He’s not the first player saying he will wait until free agency before signing a long term deal. Tavares, Stamkos, etc all did it I believe. He’s just doing it a little earlier than most, that’s it. IMO there’s worst diva behaviour than this in the NHL lol
