(Rumour) COL Burakovsky to become UFA?
timberz21 replied to RWJC's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Good player but will ask for a contract based on his Colorado production, which has been an offensive juggernaut the past few years. Definitely benefited from playing with good players and I doubt he lives up to his contract. Pass, unless he wants a reasonable deal, but if COL is letting him go it’s because he’s not. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
timberz21 replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Quite an (disturbing) accomplishment, but If the VAN-NYI non-trade thread makes it to this point, then I think I have no choice but to delete my profile. -
Much is made about his size, but the kid is still 17, can easily grow and inch or two. iirc, Bo was listed as 5’11’’ too his draft year. its mot like he’s 5’8, six feet is the average.

[Rumour] Canucks and Islanders Trade
timberz21 replied to Honourable Hughes's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Islanders have been overachieving the past few years and with Trotz gone, it can go side ways, I’d take that bet. but I’m sure Lou would request a top5-10 or lottery protection -

[Rumour] 7 Overall Pick to Habs (Anderson/Dvorak)
timberz21 replied to AngryElf's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'm guessing MTL's later 1st rounder and/or 2nd rounder (1st from that round) would be involved, otherwise Anderson/Dvorak is an underwhelming return for the 7th overall. Dorion going all out, since now that Melnyk is gone, whoever takes over as owner (succession or purchase) I'm guessing they'll want to clean the house and start fresh. His days are numbered. I think that would be good for that franchise, especially if they want to invest a little more resources in the front office. -
Rumor: Tavares Part of a Deal With Canucks?
timberz21 replied to BureBurrito's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Not suggesting this is actually legit… but the way it’s reported that Canucks are « «involved » doesn’t suggest Tavares will end up here but rather be involved as a third party. just don’t see how the Canucks would be involved in a 3-way deal also… -
[Discussion] Brent Burns!
timberz21 replied to BabychStache's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Not sure a cap crunch team like Tampa can afford to trade cheap players like that, without unloading cap in the process. Question is do we want to take cap back with Foote? -
[Discussion] Brent Burns!
timberz21 replied to BabychStache's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Honestly, I would prefer we focus on finding the next Devon Toews, rather than chasing a has-been like we did with Myers and OEL. Not a shot a these two, but i'd rather focus on finding someone that complement Hughes like Toews complemented Makar. Someone young enough that can solidify that top pairs for multiples years. -
[Proposal] Let's Go Get that 2nd OA Pick
timberz21 replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Lol if your sources is hockey podcast, that explain everything. Maybe you should follow real hockey and avoid clickbait podcast as reference. if you think Schneider, Chytil and 2nd rounder gets you a 2nd overall, you’re crazy, yet you thinks it’s better for Miller than a 2nd overall. All prospect May or may not end up to something but only a 2nd overall gives you high % of having a type of player that will entertain your franchise for 10-15 years. While the others might be solid players Your lucky if they’ll give you 5 good years. anyways, I guess we’re arguing for nothing, you don’t want the deal, and I’m sure NJD doesn’t take it anyways. -

And how do you know that? NJ might be willing to deal but if Philly isn’t the price will be high anyways. -

Jeez what’s your definition of a stud? crosby mcDavid and Matthews only? -
[Proposal] Let's Go Get that 2nd OA Pick
timberz21 replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Since when does quantity > quality ? That mid 1st rounder odds are probably below 30% of getting something better than a role player. It’s well documented that a 2nd rounder has < 10% or playing 100 games or something Nobody is going to trade you a guaranteed potential 1st liner with that prospect or young player. I think you need to reevaluate your risk analysis algorithm -

Looks at the history, outside 2012, there is at least 3/5 studs in the top 5 pretty much every year. That's 60% rate for top 5 selection. Are there bust, of course, this isn't exact science. If I could get 60% success rate with my 2nd overall, I'd take that bet any day. Whether its the 2nd overall or a 20 years old former 1st rounder, you'll never get a Matthews or McDavid in return for Miller. That's as good as it's going to get. Anyway, it's all moot because NJD probably won't even consider it. 2010 Taylor Hall Tyler Seguin Erik Gudbrandson Ryan Johansen Nino Neiderreiter 2011 RNH Landeskog Huberdeau Larsson Strome 2012 Yakupov Murray Galchenyuk G.Reinhart Rielly 2013 Mackinnon Barkov Drouin Jones Lindholm 2014 Ekblad Reinhart Draisaitl Bennett Dal Colle 2015 McDavid Eichel Strome Marner Hanifin 2016 Matthews Laine Dubois Puljujarvi Juolevi 2017 Hischier Patrick Heiskanen Makar Pettersson 2018 Dahlin Svechnikov Kotkaniemi Tkachuk Hayton -
[Signing] Canucks sign Andrei Kuzmenko
timberz21 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I mean it’s nice we won the derby, curious to see where this could go but my expectations are pretty low. People are acting like we just landed the next Panarin when in fact, the odds are more like we just signed the next Slepyshev. low risk move so worth the shot, but i like I said, my expectations for are pretty low. Really hope that’s not our big move of the summer, otherwise will be a similar season as last. -
Is there really a difference between pick #12 and #15? I'm pretty sure after pick #3, the Canucks and CBJ's prospect list is probably 90% different from one another. There is a good chance that the player we would pick at 12 would still be there at 15 anyhow. So basically the trade is: #44, Ceuleman and Marchenko for Miller. That is not enough. They are all projects and no guarantee. Whether is something to help us now or in the future, if we trade Miller, we need somethig concrete like a top 10 pick or top blue chip prospect.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
timberz21 replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
A lot of them yes make stuff up, I agree, but some of them got real connections inside teams and NHL offices. I get there is a lot of click bait and we like to bash on them, me first, but the majority of them are still professional and have real information. Are there exaggeration, of course. They can't be 100% accurate either...I mean teams don't decide to put a player on the market, talk to 1 teams and that trade happens. I would assume if JT Miller is on the market, JR would have at least 10 meaningful conversation with others teams. If those 10 conversations gets leak, there can only be one trade, therefore your rumors cannot ever be more than 5-10% accurate anyways, even if they are all real. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
timberz21 replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
However, the alternatives also carry risks. Risk #1 Miller walks away for nothing. Risk #2, I think Miller's value is going to be higher at this year's draft than at the trade deadline next year. Trade deadlines often involves non-roster players/picks, I would assume Schneider wouldn't be a possibility at that time. Risk #3 signing him to a long-term deal that he will not live up to. -
Always thought he was overrated and overhyped by GTA media, especially Dreger (if Keefe loses his job, first candidate mentioned by Dreger as a replacement will be him, I'm calling it). Inherited a lot of good teams every time, had early success and then all his teams stagnated or regressed. IMO letting go of Gallant early was a mistake. Vegas' early success opened up Pandaro's box and they got greedy. Instead of building on their strong debut, they started making rash decision (i.e., firing gallant, trading for every possible UFAs and signing them long term, Stone, Paccio, Pietrangelo, Eichel and waste lots of cheap and young assets, Goaltending fiasco, etc.). Ah well, too bad, at least that's one less potential powerhouse in the way of the Canucks in the Pacific
