  1. Well, he did win the Norris The James Norris Memorial Trophy, or simply the Norris Trophy, is awarded annually to the National Hockey League's top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position. Like I'm not making stuff up here lol
  2. His first year he played for a playoff team, that 2nd year he was playing for a team that finished last in their division. Did he struggle, yes, but what that really due to his partner or himself, or because the whole team sucked. IMO it's much more because of the latter.
  3. Of course, take any players in the league when paired with the "ideal" partner or linemate will always play better. That's just logic, but it also has it limits, you should still be able to stand your ground with anybody. If you're a legit top 4, whoever you play with shouldn't really matter and your base level should still be good. If you're reliant on that "fit" to play to the level expected from you, then maybe you're just not good enough and it's your partner making you look good. Anyways
  4. If that was true, why aren’t teams lining up to trade for him? Lots of teams are looking for top 4 RHD and we’re willing to give him for free. if there’s no market for him, means they must see he’s not top 4 material anymore too or someone would take the bait he played for 3 coaches, had the chance to play with QH. I mean Luke Schenn certainly took that opportunity to rejuvenate himself. You can argue the “not a fit” excuse if it’s one bad year but 4 years, that’s on the player.
  5. Facts also says he only had 18 pts and was a -15 and was well over his head at the position. Doesn’t mean because he played top 4 minutes that he necessarily played at a level of a top 4 player. Hence why I said we never had a top 4 RHD in 10 years. He played those minutes because we had no other choice not because he deserved those minutes. anyways, let’s agree to disagree
  6. We have one of the weakest defense in the league and have been searching for top 4 RHD for 10 years, he’s not a 4 on a lot of team, otherwise he would be a 4 for us. at best he’s a 6.
  7. Seriously if he’s worth a 1st at deadline, he would have good value right now and be gone already, so I think you’re over optimistic here his season salary might be only 1M after bonus, but cap hit is still 6M. So your depth argument is pointless unless a Canucks retain. Contending team won’t have capspace for him as depth
  8. Unless he get a career ending injury. It's nice and all when a players says that, but when push come to shove and you have the option 3 years/30M+$ or 8 years/80M$, nobody is going to leave 50M$ on the table because he wants to win. He'll take the money and hope the Canucks can turn it around. Kudos to Petey if he actually follow through with that plan, but his "camp" like you said, is not really doing their jobs of securing his future and his children's children's future if they agree with him. (Unless it's an obvious, insulting low-ball offers from the Canucks, which I doubt).
  9. Yes we know what the middle 6 market is, but we also how hard it is to move capspace. However, In the past few years, there was a big change how UFA were perceived. Of course, you want all stars players locked up with term, but the others? That flexibility of letting a middle 6 player walk is gold for cap management. 5 years ago, GMs didn’t want to touch a rental player with a 10 foot pole. Now, they don’t want middle 6 players like Garland and Boeser who has term left. Pretty big shift in philosophy. IMO, the “biggest” return for the Senator is they get to use that Debrincat money in someone else, whether it’s a trade or UFA signing next summer.
  10. Good deal for the sens. Not overwhelming return but they were clearly backed into a corner. Plus never really liked Debrincat, he reminds me of Taylor Hall, great individual skill but doesn’t not really make his line mates better nor help his team win. so good for them to move on.
  11. Dumbass is dumb enough to get him back, pay him more than Crosby and promise to never trade him, again.
  12. Funny, i forgot about Tolvanen. The first names that came to mind were Puljujarvi, Hodgson, Yakupov, Dal Colle, Griffin Reinhardt, Kravtsov. For every Tolvanen, there are at least 50 busts. Is it impossible, no, but highly improbable. Teams would take a chance at league minimum, but I doubt someone will take him at 1.85, except maybe Arizona or SJ.
  13. Agree but do we need to fill all the voids through free agency? If we are patient and keep some cap space, we could actually trade for guys like Bjorkstrand or Pacioretty last year, who were basically given away. Who knows, Carolina spent a lot today, maybe Pesce will be available for cheaper than we thought Honestly I’d pack it in for Free agency and play the waiting game. We don’t need to fix all our problems today, which imo was the problem with Benning, because he could didn’t mean he should of.
  14. Man, people around here are going to get disappointed thinking we are going to sign 3-4 guys on that list. i don’t think these names are going to be the first name we here tomorrow. There are bigger fish to fry At best the Canucks will kick the tire on 3-4 of these guys, make 1 or 2 serious offer, and end up signing 1 or none. We have to move players first before even thinking of signing depth, project players.
  15. I don't think I've ever seen a team who just signed a guy to a league minimum 2-way contract (aside from an ELC), play on the top pair lol. If that is the case, Juulsen should fire his agent for making him sign that contract lol
  16. Same here. I would've embed the tweet but forgot how. I'm trying to figure it out and it drives me crazy
  17. https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/status/1674797068240703490?s=20 @DarrenDreger The Winnipeg Jets are processing Blake Wheelers buyout. He will be on waivers today. There will be a number of teams with interest in signing the veteran as a free agent, including the Dallas Stars.
