  1. No he would learn much more in the OHL than in Europe on a different ice, different philosophy. Then he has to readapt to North American hockey all over again. I don't get the non-sense of "Bo's too good for the OHL, can't learn anything else". Well if he's not good enough for the NHL, i'm pretty sure he still has some thing to learn in the CHL. Perry, Getzlaf, Richards, Carter, Giroux, all spent 2 years in the OHL after their draft, and even spent time in the AHL, so i'm sure if Bo is not ready CHL is still the best option.
  2. Wow I think people really overestimate Richardson here (why am I surprise i'm on CDC after all)?. Because Richardson was 55% on faceoff last since, you guys make him sound like he's better than Manny at it. Look back the past four years, Richardson was 48, 58, 50, 48. Nothing exceptionnal there, sub par 3 years, 1 good year and 1 slighty above average). He's nowhere near close to Manny as well as a third center on a contender (SC finalist). Yes he was ok last year, centering a 3rd line at the end where we were virtually eliminated and all the pressure was off, but before that he was our 4th line center with Santorelli healthy. Bo always dominated the faceoff at the junior and there was a question mark whether he could translate that to the NHL, unlike Hodgson who wasn't able to do it, so far at 60% in preseason is a really good indication, specially going against couture the other night. It's hard to judge exactly where is Horvat now defensively but he hasn't look out of place and it can only get better. If Horvat doesn't make the team it will be because Vey, Jensen really blew him out of the competition, otherwise Horvat needs to stick over guys like Hansen, Richardson, Matthias. (from what I saw so far, unless he really drop the ball in the rest of preseason).
  3. true but those guys are known for their nasty style of play, not Gaunce, he's more of a Taylor Pyatt type of player when it comes to physicality. I'd compare him more to a Malhotra type of player, positionally sound, great understanding of the games, uses his body to defend while not being physical (hitting). If he's anything close to Malhotra i'd be really happy.
  4. I believe in Gaunce... But I could give you 100 examples who turned out busts, you picked up the exceptions with your examples.
  5. Completely different environnement. Edmonton, was trying to develop their kids as first liners and core players with 22min ice-time per games. The Sedins, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Miller is still going to be the core and important player of this team. Look what LA did with Pearson, Toffoli and Boston with Krug, Hamilton and Smith. They incorporated them to the Carter, Brown, Kopitar, Doughty, Bergeron, Krejic, Lucic, Chara and not ask to replace them like Edmonton did with their kids. What am I saying is play the kids in a secondary, but meaningful role, give them a chance. Rather than leaving them in Sestito's spot as 12th and 13th forward and spending the year in Utica. Otherwise, we will bring them up only when the Sedins are gone or close and then it'll be like Edmonton when they'll be put in 1st line role without barely any experience. Management is not going to admit, yeah we'll run with kids this year and sacrafice the playoffs. But that doesn't matter because it's not going to fall on those kids wether we make the playoff or not, big part is going to be how the veteran/core plays (Sedins, Vrbata, Bonino, Burrows, Hamhuis, Edler, Bieksa, Miller, and not Higgins, Hansen, Richardson, Matthias, Dorsett). Also i'm not suggesting our top 6 should be Sedin, Sedin, Vrbata, Shinkaruk, Horvat, Jensen.....that would be a mistake. If the kids are awful of course you send them down/minors, but if like Jensen did last year, prove he can play in this league (not saying he tore it apart and will score 30G this year, but he proved he can play, despite making mistakes), let them play, they will bring a lot more rewards than playing safe low risk/low rewards players like Richardson, we have enough of them.
  6. This is where I don't agree, even if we ice the best combinations with the players we have at camp, we'll barely make the playoffs anyways or maybe not even. I'd rather spend time developping some prospect and get them 1 more year under their belt, at the risk of sacrificing another playoff, rather than fighting until the end with veteran without anymore guarantee we'll be there anyways. It'll be beneficial down the road. I'm not saying play the kids until they are minus -157 and not getting any points. If they can compete close to the level of a veteran like Richardson, who likely won't be here next year, even if they makes more mistakes at times, i'd rather keep a prospect in the line-up. Anyways, i'm pretty sure we can agree on one things, that we'll never agree on this year's line-up.
  7. Are you sure Horvat wouldn't be there to fight? Haven't you seen is summer selfie all ripped up. Jeez, download the sarcasm App, it'll help you identify them. I just said right after my comment, "But seriously" Anyway you can insult my "asset management" all you want, yours is to keep the status quo, with the only change replacing Kesler by Bonino and Vrbata. Good idea, let's keep the same roster as the one that finished 25th in the league. You really need to specify that Hansen is more talented than Sestito? D'uh!!! He also cost 2.5M for the next 3-4 years. And you suggest putting him on the 4th or the extra forward. Wow, that's awesome asset/money management. Hansen could actually fetch a decent return, which could help us acquiring future asset at the deadline or move up the draft or have a decent pick. Jensen is a projected top 6 player. It's not about pushing Kassian down the depth chart, Kassian is more versatile, can play up and down the line-up, where as Jensen is purely an offensive player. He need to be put in an offensive situation. They would probably end up with similar icetime, specially if Kassian plays with Higgins. Also ideally, you wouldn't put Horvat and Jensen on the same line, hence why I put the two rookies with veteran players. Wow big deal Richardson won 55% of his faceoff last year. The four previous year with LA he was 48, 58, 50 and 48%. When you have a guy like Manny who consistenly win 60-65% of his face-off....THEN you have an asset, Richardson is average at best. You really think a 29years old with a career high of 27 points back in 2010 is "DEFINITLY" going to get picked up and is that much important for our team?. Wow no wonder there is so many conspiracy theorist on CDC, people actually think all of our roster are "irreplaceable" and wonder how could we finish 25th with such a loaded team LOL.
  8. Hell no, I don't want Horvat to fight! But seriously I completely disagree. Sestito plays 4-8 minutes a night in a specific role. If Horvat cannot dislodge any of Vey, Richardson, Matthias, Higgins, Hansen, then he needs to go back to junior, as he won't play more than 10 minutes per game and will waste his time. Sestito is the kind of guy that you keep around because he likely won't complain being a healthy scratch. I think Richardson is another one who might be safe, due to the fact he's cheap and has only 1 more year remaining. JB/WD won't mind keeping him a healthy scratch or even send him down a few time to make room as he likely won't get picked up or if he does we won't mind losing him, as he's definitely not in the long-term plans. IMO, if Horvat earns a top 9 role, Burrows, Higgins and/or Hansen will be shopped around (my wish is Hansen). Specially if Jensen is also top 9. Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata Burrows-Bonino-Jensen(wild card) Higgins-Horvat-Kassian Matthias-Vey-Dorsett Richardson-Sestito
  9. The only reason Vey might be ahead is for waiver purposes, otherwise he hasn't proven anything more than Horvat. Richardson is cheap and 1 year left, if someone is going to be left out if the kids plays well it's him, even if he performs, due to the fact he's not a long term project and he's not Benning/Willie's guy, he will be left out and/or kept for depth in case of injuries (healthy scratch). And I don't think BH will be forced to play 3C, he'll either earn it (either through preseason or 9 nine game) otherwise he'll be back in junior.
  10. Isn't his wife an actress? Also I think some agents are based in LA too
  11. For those saying Iginla wants a cup, Money Talks...if we have the best offer you never know. Plus he signed/trade with two of the best in the NHL (PIT and BOS) and couldn't even get to the final. If he really wanted to win, he would have signed with Boston for less than 5M already. However as much as I like Iginla he would only take a roster spot from Jensen, Shink, Kassian, Horvat. Rather spent the time to develop them.
  12. But I bet you were OK with Schneider's 98 career starts, right?
  13. Miller for 2-3 years, playing 50-60 games and Lack playing 20-30 is not bad for his development. Was elevated to #1 pretty quickly, without behing tested really. All depend on Miller's demand. I assume Hiller would be for a backup role, insurance policy. That way Lack could play 50-60 instead of 65-70.
  14. Shinkaruk isn't really of any use for Florida. If indeed they want Ehler or Nylander, they will prioritized them over Shinkaruk. When you include Huberdeau, Barkov, Bjugstad, not much room left on that top 6, and they will need a veteran at some point.
  15. Why would it be a waste. We only have to pay 2/3rd of his salary instead of the full 4.25. And it frees up a roster spot for Jensen, Horvat or Shinkaruk, which will give them 1 more year NHL experience and should end up with similar TOI and PTS as Booth would have done. I say it's a win-win for the Nucks.
  16. And how many of these 1C were drafted later on. Getzlaft 19th overall, Giroux 22th overall, Bergeron 45th overall, Kopitar 11th overall, Kesler 23rd ovearll, Richards 24th overall, Carter 11th overall. While the Oilers are picking 1st, RNH, Yakupov, Hall and none of them are dominating (90+pts) 1st line players yet. You would give up a potentially great 2C + potential 1C with the 6th overall. Yes, Reinhart has more odd he will make it, but i'd rather take my chances with Horvat + 6th overall than go all in for Reinhart.
  17. I'd have to disagree with that. When the top 5 is isolated so much, it means that the cream of the crop is there. Anyone outside is a longshot (might be good players, yes, automatic star, No!) If anything it is useless to move up in a deep draft like 2003, 2013 or 2015. Look at last year, Mantha, Horvat, Rychel, Shinkaruk. Monahan, were all available between 5 and 25. Therefore is it useless to move up since your are almost guaranteed a pretty good player (unless it's for the top 2, but the price will be even more steep than this year).
  18. Jake Virtanen 43rd on Button's draft rankings! LOL what a goof, no wonder he's doing mock draft on TV instead of being in the NHL. http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=49649
  19. Hard to say when neither of them we're traded in the past 10 year I believe.
  20. Surprised a few aren't on it Philly (offer sheet, plus style of play of the organization) NYR (Big City, American boy, good team, I guess he wants to move on from AV) LA (Fit their style of play, California, contender, although crowded at center) Surprised about Tampa. - No guarantee that Callahan stays - No guarantee underrated prospects will overachieve again. (best examples is Conacher) - Had a cinderella year (like they had with Boucher), I wouldn't be surprise if they'd miss the playoff next year
  21. It's highly improbable that TurboTax made the mistake. If the refund is not the same, it is because you either entered the information wrong or not at the right place in TurboTax, or you forgot to enter some information. For example if your income is 31,900 but you entered 39,100 instead. That would create a huge difference in your return. And TurboTax cannot detect/correct a typo error, but CRA will as they have your T4s information on file.
  22. But what if Benning But couldn't Chiarelli just resign from the Senators at the time? He was guaranteed the other job. Same for Benning if he resign from the Bruins, he's not bound anymore and can sign whereever he wants. The danger, of course, is if Benning resigns and he's not hired anywhere else, he loses his job. But if somehow he knows he's the next Canucks' gm, then why not. Not sure how that works exactly.
  23. People assume too much. Chances that all of Gaunce, Horvat, Cassels, become all NHL regular for the Canucks are pretty slim (bust, trade, UFA signing that will take their spot). We can never predict how prospect will translate their game into the NHL. So to say Gaunce will be stuck as 4C behind Cassels is way too early to tell. For once, they probably won't join the NHL at the same time, one might spend 2 years in the AHL while the other 1 or 3. Also most of the good players in junior are center and are converted to wing in pro. I wouldn't be surprise to see Gaunce transformed into a Winger because of his size and lack of foot speed. Specially since he spent the last 2 seasons jumping from center to wing. I see Gaunce making the team as a 3rd/4th line winger and if he reaches his true potential then maybe he can he brought back at center (2nd/3rd line)
