  1. I could live with a 30-40 pts player like Bolland but being a monster playoff performer. Mike Richards wouldn't be bad either a 40-60 pts players with one or two 70+ season.
  2. When a player is not wanted, usually he doesn't want to stick around. When was the last time you heard a player not waiving his NTC at all and staying put on a team that doesn't want him. Usually all the NTC does is provides the option to the player as to where he wants to go. Last player I remember that really didn't waive at all was Redden and a few months later signed as a UFA on a contract that pretty ended his career. You can say a player won't mind sitting in the press box and getting paid for nothing, but hockey player's ego and their love for the game will make them reconsider waiving.
  3. No he wasn't... ...but he wasn't the solution also, neither was Torts.
  4. McKeown, he's pretty far on Button, NHL's list but 20th on ISS and was 17 on Mckenzie's January ranking. Unfortunately the latter ones are more accurate most of the time.
  5. as of this day I thought Virtanen was a Europeen, a Finn more precisely LOL. guess I dropped the ball on that one.
  6. Horvat, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Jensen, Hodgson (now Kassian), Cassels, Mallet, Grenier. These are pretty much all of our 1st and 2nd rounder since 3-4 years and all we've done since then is fall from 1st in scoring to 28th. Did that change anything? This year's offense ranking shouldn't dictate what we select in the draft, specially when our top 3 offensive players missed 26 games combined. I don't mind drafting a forward again, but not because we finished 28th in scoring. If we do, it's because there is nowhere near a defenseman good enough to beat him.
  7. And you think by drafting a forward we will miraculously jump in the top 10 scoring next year or the one after that?
  8. Yes and it's his fault. GMMG said he wanted to get younger. What does Torts do? - Doesn't even give Shinkaruk and Horvat 9 games. Not saying keep them for sure, but at least give them a shot. - Plays the "old players" 20-28 minutes per game, right from the get go. - Plays Kassian < 12 minutes per game until the season was virtually over. - Doesn't give Jensen a shot until the season is virtually over (even though he didn't deserve it really). - Sent Corrado down for basically the whole season. D'uh!
  9. Any consideration for Fleury with the 6th overall? I don't know much about him, as i'm from the east, but I like the fact he's 6'2-6'3 and per Bob Mckenzie an excellent skater "Haydn's an excellent skater who uses it to his advantage very well. He's a smart defender who will transition the puck but is a real steady force on the blue line who steps up when it matters." He also put up more than 0.5PPG and +15 on a non playoff team. With Jensen, Horvat, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Cassels upfront and Hamhuis and Bieksa over 30 (GArrison, Edler close to it), who do we have in 2-3 years to replace them? Tanev and Corrado will be good 3-4 defenseman at best, but no one to play on that top pair and Fleury might be our best option. I mean, if Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett or Dal Colle fall to #6 i think that a no brainer. But not completely sold yet on Draisaitl, Ehlers and i'm on the fence for Ritchie. I'm wondering if Ritchie is having success because he's 6'3 and he's playing against kids and wheter his game will translate in the NHL where 6'3 is just above average. Could be like Kassian, where we don't know yet if he's a Milan Lucic or just another 3rd-4th line players. Anyways got sidetrack there my point is I want your opinion/comments on Fleury if we should even consider him. Thanks.
  10. Just got a message from the Canucks App too.
  11. For those who wants Gillis gone, think about it...I doubt the owners wants to pay Gillis and Torts 17M in the next 5 years on top of the new Coach and GM. If they do fire both, then imagine the raise in ticket prices for this one If Gillis is gone, Aqualini would probably ask the new GM to keep tort around for a year a two. Do we really want our new GM to be limited in such a way early on and be a pushover by the owners? Don't think that will help more than keeping Gillis and canning Torts.
  12. Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and LA didn't need the ref to put away the whistles to win.
  13. If he trades them and tank for 3 seasons he will get fired too. So it's a lose-lose for Gillis. If he holds on to his core he will crash and burn in 2-3 years. If he trades them all and tank for 3 season he will also get fired and the new GM will get the credit for the rebuild (if it pans out). Gillis' only option is to trade either all the supporting cast and keep Kesler and Sedins until the Horvat, Shinkaruk, GAunce, Jensen development into true NHL player (hopefully). Or Trade maybe Kesler and hope the Sedins can hold the fort until a new "franchise" player is ready to takeover.
  14. No team ever build or rebuild it's team via Trade Deadline. Heck nobody ever won the cup via Trade Deadline Hossa to PIT Iginla to PIT Jagr to BOS = FAIL
  15. Canucks retaining Salary on Luongo's contract. Per Duthie on TSN radio in Toronto. He believes Matthias is coming back, not confirmed but pretty sure.
  16. Beside Seabrook, Keith, Kane, Toews and Sharp, what does chicago has that is better than Schenn, Couturueier, Laughton, Sutter, Pouliot, Maata. Really don't think PHI or PIT would trade Kesler back. Maybe if the deal would be Columbus or Nashville, then it could happen.
  17. Philly would probably include Meszaros for cap reason. Specially if Edler is going. But if the trade is early, we could ship him to Boston too afterward.
  18. LOL Tanev untouchable...yeah he's playing great and is not too expensive, but wait until he ask for 4M+ for his next contract. Cue to the overpaid threads (probably will have an NTC too). Tanev will never be a #1 or #2 defenseman. He is replaceable, specially with Corrado waiting for his turn. Tanev is great because he his overachieving comparing to his salary, just like Burrows, but will he be worth it at 4M+???
  19. Does anyone know where is H.Sedin during the Olympics break? Sochi? Sweden? Stayed in Vancouver? On vacation down south?
  20. OMG Franzen is not the answer. I'm all for trading Edler but not for an old injury prone Franzen. Unless Mantha comes with him.
  21. Well i'd say he still a top 6, but definitely not top 3 anymore.
  22. Shouldn't this thread be lock for a duplicate thread? Gillis always says the same thing, no real news ever comes up from his interview.
  23. I think the best upside in this trade is probably more playing time for Archibald and/or Lain. Will probably be full time 4th liner next year, AHL stint probably over for 1 of them, maybe both.
  24. I think Burrows might be on the bubble. Maybe to montreal for Bourque, but of course MTL would have to add either a 1st or a good prospect, like Collberg or De La Rose Tinordi or Beaulieu.
  25. Corrado recalled. Interesting did anybody got injured last night?
