[GDT] Chicago Blackhawks vs Vancouver Canucks - Jan 29, 2014
timberz21 replied to canucktican's topic in Canucks Talk
Hawks in a slump, nothing better than their favorite goalie to get the engine running again. Blow-out! 5-1. Personnally my lines would be Higgins-Kesler-Kassian Sedin-Schroeder-Burrows Booth-Richarson-Hansen Sestito-Dalpe-Weise/Weber (is Weise injured???) -
[RUMOURS] Daily TSN Trade Rumours.
timberz21 replied to Warhippy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
True, specially since i've seen these Rumors cited sources like the FourthPeriod. Not even coming from BobbyMac or Dreger. Sometimes it has mentions of Lebrun from his ESPN column. TSN taking a page from Eklund's book. Trying to get traffic/more viewers, by doing more speculation than actually reports facts. But they are still 100 times more credible than Eklund. -
Really hopes Schroeder gets another weekend in the AHL, even though we could use him right now. First, to get some confidence back, two to really gets in a groves, otherwise he'll just come here and if he doesn't produce in his first 2 games will be relegated to 3-4th line duty quickly.
-
From what I see most of his goals comes from picking up the garbage in the tough areas. With his big body, he will be able to get those goals at the pro levels, compared to a sniper who has an above average shot in junior, but below or average in the pro.

Anyway no team will trade a true 1st liner for Horvat (ex: Perry, Getzlaf, Giroux, Tavares, etc.) And borderline 1st/2nd line player like Ryan, Kunitz, Neal, Pacioretty, Lucic, will not makes us top contenders (better yes, but not cup favorites.) Therefore it's not worth it trading Horvat and going all-in

But what if we win our next three game? Do you re-hire him? -
Hopefully if Kassian can keep up his development, come end of march and april, Kassian could be paired with the Sedin, which can be beneficial for many reasons. 1. Toughness, size to make space for the Sedin in the playoffs. 2. That line would be new and teams would have to adjust, not like with Burrows where every team seems to have figure out that line. 3. Kassian would be playing the other teams top players. Therefore, if someone wants a piece of Kassian, it won't be the goons it will have to be top players. Or if they are goon, then the Sedin can go to work. ... however, lots of IF lol ways to go before that.
-
They are good quality when they play 20 minutes a game. They gets mediocre when they play above 22 minutes. That is where a lack of a true #1 hurt us. These guys can't play that much and be mistakes free, that is where an elite defenseman rise above the others in those crucial extra minutes they still plays 110%.

2-1 shoutout loss. The high scoring from the last few games was nice, but doubt it lasts. PPG : Garrison (Sedin-Sedin) Koivu for Minny Shootout Santorelli-Goal Kesler-Miss Higgins-Miss Parisé-Score Koivu-Score Niederreider-Miss

You mean on the 3rd ? -
Too Early to call Kassian a dissapointment?
timberz21 replied to Go Go Canucks Go's topic in Canucks Talk
He needs to play with offensive player. Put Lucic with Sestito and Richarson, or Higgins, or Hansen, or schoreder and you won't get much more than Kassian. He only had 1 true shot to excel, 5 games stint with the Sedins, and he did a good job. Since, never really had a fighting chance. This guy will never be a defensive specially, to be successful we will have to live with his mistakes, but he should compensate with other aspect of the game, goals, big body, physicality, intimidation -
[Report] Canucks interested in Martin Erat
timberz21 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yes no off season training can slow someone down or create consistency issues. But if your a real 30 goals scorer, you should be able to easily get 15-20 goals without an offseason. Explain part of it but not all. Booth is playing like an AHLer right now, he's on pace for less than 10 goals. I would expect him to have at least 3 or 4 by now. -
Always great game against CHI, but man I'm glad we are only playing them twice a year.... great battle, but we win so few of them, and we'll definitely never win the war.

[GDT] Blue Jackets @ Canucks - Friday 7PM
timberz21 replied to Alex the Great's topic in Canucks Talk
I know Hansen and Higgins deserves playing with Henrik by their hard work, consistency, heart, etc. But one of the reason we're having trouble scoring is those two hands of stone are playing significant minutes with good players and can't convert on their chances. They are 3rd liners and it's where they belongs. They should still gets 16 min of playing time but we'll never win anything with them playing close to 20 min. For what it's worth, here's my lines Burrows-Hank-Kassian(18-19min) Dany-Santo-Kesler(18-19min) Higgins-Richardson-Hansen (16min) Fourth line (<8min) -

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. -
Watched part of the 2nd period. Saw a few shift from Gaunce. He looks huge. He kinda of looks slow, however seems to use his body well to protect the puck. Might compensate his skating with his long reach and good positioning.

Subway series OHL 2 - RUS 5 Watched part of 2nd period. Commentators seemed to say Horvat was having a good game. However he ended a -3.

Gaunce on the "third" line against the Russian. Thats pretty much 4 x 1st line though. Interesting to see what Gaunce does with a gifted offensive player like Dal Colle. Horvat on the "fourth" line against the Russian. Thats pretty much 4 x 1st line though. But surprised he's not paired with Domi. Anderson/Laughton/Rychel Domi/McDavid/Brown DelColle/Gaunce/Nastasiuk McGinn/Horvat/Kosmachuk https://twitter.com/RobSnoekLIVE/status/403568776308076544/photo/1

Lol people hate on Hodgson, but would sell the team for Kane. Yes Kane has more experience playing as an 18yrs old, even though he was drafted a year later, but when you look at the numbers it's pretty similar. Kane 282 86 86 172 (Thats 0.3GPG and 0.60 PPG) Hodgson 162 42 51 93 (Thats 0.25GPG and 0.57PPG) DOnt get me wrong I'd like to have Kane on the team, but not at any cost. People think he's in the Tavares, Benn, Duchene, Eberle, Hall category. I'd say one notch under. I'd say he's more of a really good 2nd line player more than a superstar, in the likes of Erik Cole (for Carolina), Franzen, Horton, Kunitz, Elias, Sharp. (i'm not comparing type of player but more the position on the depth chart)

And get your goal waived off !
