  1. People seems to forget that there is a huge difference between top 5 and top 12 protected first rounder. Ottawa is a rollercoaster and have no goalie, who knows where they’ll finish. Also Hronek will be RFA vs Chychrun UFA a couple years later. Even though Hronek contract is shorter, that a big difference in leverage. not to mention RHD vs LHD, we can’t play a 3-1-1 system
  2. Funny when everyone keeps thinking that someone we traded at the deadline will come back this summer. How often does that actually happen? Like 1 out of 1,000?
  3. guess what, we still sucked even with these two leaders. now a new group will have a chance to emerge, let’s see what it does, can’t really get any worst
  4. Objectively, the return is about right. But did we seriously needed to sit him to “protect” our return? I get it for Meier, Horvat, Kane type of player but Schenn? Ah well it’s done, nice to have extra pick.
  5. Watch us claim him and then complain in September that we couldn't do anything because we have cap issues
  6. This thread, do we really need it? Not defending OEL, but 3 games is not a good sample size. A replacement can take his minutes in a short span, but for a full season? I believe we went 2-1-1 when QH was injured early in the season, doesn't mean squat.
  7. 2/4 isn’t that 50%? Jury is still out on Podz, that the only other top from Benning isn’t it? plus Boeser and McCann were pretty good picks too. Where it went south in the development part which is different than drafting and at that the Canucks is one of the worst franchise since the early 2000s
  8. So then shouldn’t we blame Virtanen and Juolevi on Brackett’s predecessor. Can’t put the good one on someone we « like » and the bad one on someone we « hate ». Gotta be objective here, ultimately it wasn’t one man’s decision but rather a group consensus. But the GMs does have final say.
  9. Can’t bat 1.000, I’m not a pro-Benning, but I give credit where credit is due and EP was a grand slam and QH a home run.
  10. Would Toffoli have accepted 4M from the Canucks though? Yeah he got that, but I’m assuming he settle for it after the market was underwhelming
  11. That's too much lopsided in favor of the Canucks 1. Dermott + Joshua not worth 2nd rounder 2. Hogs+Stud+Stillman wouldn't get you Greenway and 2nd even on the PlayStation 3. Cal Foote would never sign that offer sheet 4. If Cal Foote signs that offer sheet Tampa matches and has to pinch themselves making sure they are not dreaming. Got to assume if anyone would've been dangling a 2nd for Boeser it would have been done by not. I don't see how we move him without taking another contract in.
  12. I find it curious that somehow Miller has no value anymore while he was probably one most discussed player last year. We all knew he wasn’t going to repeat his 99 pts season. He’s still in pace for a 75pts season and been basically a ppg player since joining the Canucks. Whether the Canucks signed him last year, he would have gotten his 8Mx7 this summer anyway. So someone would pay that salary, so he must have some value. Yes his new contract eliminates potential suitor like Tampa or Vegas who wants nothing to do with Term. But a bubbles team with decent cap, who isn’t a primary destination for UFA should be interested. His worth is not going to fetch a Horvat package but should be better than get whatever we can, imo, but I guess not.
  13. So if we ever win something with EP, then will Benning get the credit as the mastermind of that trophy?
  14. Columbus. Crosby et McDavid's first couple of years didn't propel their team into playoffs contenders, much less powerhouses. They would be better to keep Boqvist and develop him, they could always trade him later too for other asset if he's expandable. Boeser would be with them for 2 years of Bedard's ELC. They won't re-sign him since that money will go to Bedard's extension. And I'm sure they have a couple of hoglanders (NHL/AHL tweeners) already in their system.
  15. Haven’t they been doing that since the team moved to Arizona?
