With canceling this forum I suspect CDC will have very few visitors to their site. People can check the roster, stats and schedules etc anywhere. Besides, I also believe the new forum will provide team updates, video tweets etc anyway. Treating fans like this isn't nice, why would anyone want to visit this site knowing that?

Short sighted move not unlike one of Jim Benning's specials when he dealt away 1st round picks like candy.  Now we know why he lasted so long as GM.

Yep. Same here. There's already a ghost town vibe taking control in here.

They'd be welcome to join as members. Why not. I'm guessing they're fans just as much as anyone else.

Also. I came in here to see if the JR, PA, Coach media thing got posted yet on Canucks TV. Apparently not yet. I'm going to the new forum now..........

    Bye, bye!

With all due respect you aren't a marketing specialist or high end strategist so as an outside opinion you may have a valid one but it's based on your own limited understanding of the true metrics behind the stats/numbers etc.

Canucks and the NHL spend a lot of money (150k) easily on top trier marketing execs and social media analysts who know a lot more about this than you me or any fan on here so if a decision came down to close the forum it was not an easy one and had countless people analyze it, study the numbers had to go through many approvals etc. Its silly to say this wasn't a smart or strategic move. If they made it clearly it was for them these moves are made by smart people highly paid people lets respect that too.

Kind of like the "smart people" who designed/marketed this:

Kurtenbach was the king of the late bloomers.  Hit his stride for the first time at age 34 with the Canucks.  Goes to show some guys just need the opportunity to be the man.

Shows you just how hard it was back in the 6 team league to break-in.  I might laugh at the Bruins expense about how they traded away then prospect goalie Ken Dryden to the Habs for two nobodies but there were only so many roster spots in those days (even if you include the farm clubs).

Lol.   Coaching.   The same coach that noticed his ability right away and gave him the minutes and the first unit PP time.   Also did that with Brock and QHs.    Thank god we didn't have Babcock.    Not sure are you talking about Tochett as an AHL coach too?   Guess so.   Jack Hughes made Tatar become one of the best WAR cards (ask Boblaw about that).   He's good.   You for sure have to compare at the same age.

With that said, if EP goes down now, we have no playoff aspirations.   Not that we should be planning the parade with the current roster anyways.   Brock was the best player forward we had the covid year.   Miller has had five or six coaches now, didn't seem to matter whom he had did it?    It's not coaching, it's the roster.   We haven't had a top one in over a decade now.   At least we got to see some offense last year at the expense of defense though.    Green put his time in.   I agree with Tochett, he's a good coach.   People just expected a lot more for whatever reason.   No idea why.   That was a pretty mediocre roster.   What else was he supposed to do with that defense anyways?    Edler and Tanev.   Myers helped and look at how people hate on him.    We haven't had a good D for so long now.   People like Pearson and rightly so.   Makes any line a little better.  Who does he give accolades to for helping him stay in the league?  Green.   Why in the world, would you expect us to be good during the worst part of our cycle?  WD and then Green for awhile.    Our team just sucked.   The Sedins weren't nearly as good as they used to be.   We're so slow.   Brock gave us some hope.   EP got a lot of points but also had a lot of his points in 3 games (as a rookie under Green), you could tell he was special though.   Too bad JB didn't think we shouldn't have a Reaves type to help because nobody else seemed to care about his health.   We still lack that.

So far EPs had Bruce, as an "experienced" coach.   Miller also scored a lot of points.   And Horvat scored a lot of goals, under Bruce, they sure forgot how to keep things close though, how many leads did Green blow?.   Even during the Bruce bump, media pointed out the steam was let out of the room, but those defensive lessons, didn't just disappear during the ten game winning streak either.    A couple practices lol.   Didn't make a difference.   Bruce inspired them, but didn't teach them squat.   Let's see how EP does with another "AHL" coach.

That dogshit coaching, won him a Calder.   I'm sure if he had Babcock, he'd get 14 minutes a game.

That, imho just means he was THAT good.  Bruce was a seasoned NHL coach, though not without his faults.  Still MILES better than Willie D or Travis Green.  Agree to disagree.

    As for Babcock?  A dinosaur.

depends on the team make up. if i already have a hirshier type player on the team ppg selke caliber guy as a 2c.. i 100% would take Jack Hughes... offensively Jack hughes at age 20 and 21 blows EP age 20 21 out of the water.. Jack is over a ppg both season and prolly would have hit 100 if he didn't miss the 4 games and already is a 40 goal scorer while ep was slightly below a ppg both season and then struggled the following season.. so who to say if Jack hughes won't continue and be a 120 point guy by the time he reaches EP's age? the knock on jack hughes is he's god awful in the faceoff circle.. i wonder if he's better off just being a winger and have hirschier as the center.. though i think Jack hughes would explode this year offensively with better linemates. Meier is a massive upgrade over haula sharangovich tatar and mercer whom hughes played with last season. and if luke hughes can put up anything close to quinn's number.. so really depends on the team and situation.. pure offence i'll take hughes 2 way player probably EP? so really its gonna depend on situation and team composition.

Unfair, IMHO, to compare him to EP at that age.  Why?  Because of the dog**** coaching EP had (two AHL coaches that were better off staying there).

Ron Delorme, Mel Bridgman, Craig Coxe, Ron Stern, Jerry Korab, Shawn Antoski...

Orland Kurtanback (sp?).   In the mold of Ted Lindsay imho (not saying he was as good obviously).  Problem was Orland didn't have Howe (among others) as a teammate

As an aside Geoff freaking Courtnall would be the toughest guy on the roster in comparison.   Which is pretty funny.   Walker would be one of the most feared fighters in the league the past five years.   Times have sure changed.  Hordichuk, who was a tier below the best fighters of his era, would be the scariest guy in the league.

JT Miller, Myers, Joshua wouldn't make the top 100 "toughest Canuck" list.   Maybe Myers and Miller if we didn't include cups of coffee, but they'd be near the bottom.

I can't help but think the coaching of Willie & Travis told Myers (and Gudbranson) to 'turn the other cheek' rather than 'return the receipt' (eg., retaliate for cheapshots to Canuck players).  But that's just speculation on my part.

That's what I thought.    Was hoping we'd trade a winger and keep him.   Wasn't in the cards.   Our D was trash.  And he was a big part of the solution.    Didn't like his pacifism personally.   But he was good for us and we will miss him.   Our 3C hole is glaring now.  If Miller or EP goes down we are screwed.

Was a hole *with* Horvat.  While I don't think sucked handling defensive duties, neither was he great either.  Team simply has not replaced that ability since Sutter was no longer on the roster.  I think the team can handle either Miller or EP going down (not saying it wouldn't hurt...like alot).  Problem is if Hughes goes down (imho) or Demko.

It's evolution is team sports, a form of tribalism, safer battles than wars to wage against each other.

You know, not all fighters are the insults you use...meatheads, chimps.

Just like, not all none fighters are ...pansies, wussies.

I am sure you can make your points without using insults.

However, in my opinion, being compared to chimps isn't a reduction to me. We are just naked apes ourselves. Evil, hating, smart apes, that are filled with conflict and are killing the planet we walk on. We should hope we could be as gentle as those chimps.

I suppose you are against body checks too? legal bodychecks are the leading cause of concussions.

I have seen body checks break backs, necks, legs, you name it...they even end careers.

I see no reason to bring Alflives into this discussion.

He just makes the most sense for so many reasons.  Idk how to say this without offending someone so I'll just say it. QH hasn't (to my knowledge) slowly sulked his way off the ice and then turned around later and freaked out at the backup goalie when they didn't get off the ice fast enough (due to confusion not attitude)

In JT Miller, I see similar qualities as Jovo and Bieksa.  Were they not also leaders? This team absolutely made the right call!

I couldn't see Kesler as a "C" (though he never took a night off even when a playoff spot was already clinched).  Bieksa I think had the right temperament to be a "C".  But that is just my opinion.
